We provide a bonfire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Situated south of Stony Point in Cherry Cove, the water is shallow and calm (good for children). A dock, canoe, kayaks and sand toys are available. The water has a mix of smooth sand areas and areas with small stones/rocks.

BEDROOM/BATHS - The master has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen; and the third bedroom has two full/twin bunks. There is an additional twin bed, and a pull out queen couch as well. Two full baths, both remodeled in 2015 – one with two sinks and tub/shower; second with one sink/shower. There is an attic fan which cools the bedrooms, ceiling fans in each room, and additional floor fans available. The home does not have air conditioning.

AMENITIES – You'll have "home away from home" conveniences including Wifi, cable, bed linens, pillows, towels, coffee maker, blender, griddle, toaster, waffle iron, toaster oven, tableware, flatware, kitchen utensils, cookware, bakeware, serveware, brand new kitchen appliances March 2017 (stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher), washer and dryer, gas grill, and deck furniture. We provide a standard guest supply of body wash, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, and napkins. There is typically an array of condiments and most common spices as well.

There is an air hockey and foosball table, as well as a selection of children's toys and books, movies, games, cards, novels.

THINGS TO DO - The area hosts many activities. In addition to the over 20 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is close to the Leelanau Sands Casino, shopping, excellent dining, local farm markets, golf courses, bike trails, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of Leelanau Peninsula. The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes are very popular, and Fishtown in Leland is a great afternoon visit. Catch the sunset over Lake Michigan in Leland at The Cove and Rick's Café. About Mary and Brian

We live in the Detroit area with our 3 children. We grew up in Michigan - one on the west side and one on the east, and have vacationed in northwest Michigan since meeting in 1996. We have always loved the Leelanau peninsula and love having a home here. Purchasing a home up north was a dream of ours. We've built great memories with family and friends, and have been continuously improving it over time; rescuing the home from years of inattention, the beach from disrepair, and the yard from major overgrowth. We love it and we hope you do too!

Mary and Brian purchased this house in 2011

Why Mary and Brian chose Northern Michigan

We fell in love with the home the minute we walked in the front door and saw the spectacular view. The open layout of the place makes it great for families. It's beautiful in the summer, stunning with color in the fall, and calm & cozy in the winter. We love the location with so many activities nearby, yet the quiet of being out of Traverse City chaos. It's the perfect place to relax with friends and family.

What makes this house unique

It's great to be in an area where you feel 'away from it all' but also to have access to restaurants, shopping, grocery and hardware shopping, entertainment, wineries, a casino, and amazing outdoor beauty all within 15 minutes.

My family and I (all 11 of us) loved our time and experience at this Suttons Bay Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing long weekend at this house and never once felt cramped for all 11 people that were there. We had our small children and teenagers with us and everyone found plenty to do and play with. The water was amazing and it was great having the kayaks available to use by the owners. They have a great set up for grilling out on the deck along with a nice fire pit on the beach. Even though there is no air conditioning and we stayed there over the 4 hottest days of the whole summer no one every complained about the heat. The owners give great instructions on ways to keep the house cool in the daytime which helped and the cross breeze at night let us all sleep peacefully. They had a ton of games to play while we were up there and lots of kids toys for the little ones. The bathrooms were nice and updated. Even the neighbors were extremely friendly and helpful. We also loved going in to Suttons Bay and exploring along with some fun wine and beer touring for the adults one day. We definitely would book again next summer!!!

So very accommodating!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three days at the Birks home on Suttons Bay and had a FABULOUS time! The house is very thoughtfully stocked with everything you would need for a relaxing time right on the water. The kitchen had everything we needed, which allowed for us to cook a few meals right there when not dining out in downtown Traverse City or Suttons Bay. Water toys galore! We did not have children with us this trip, but it is a perfect family getaway for kids of all ages. Plenty of room for gathering and/or spaces to find peace and quiet in the home or by the water. Comfort, accommodation, and pure fun! Thanks so much, Mary and Brian, for a perfect trip!!

Well kept property that has everything

  • 5 of 5

The owners were highly responsive to our questions and requests, from initial conversation through our stay. Everything -- kayaks, canoe, kitchen, grill, toys -- was in good working order. The house was left very clean and is well appointed for kids with plenty of games, toys.

It feels more like stepping into a comfortable summer home than a rental. We commented that the photos understated its condition and cleanliness, not the other way around. Our family of 7-8, with a few visitors for dinners, really enjoyed it.

Clean and Family Friendly Lake Front Home

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent week at Mary and Brian's lake house! The home is even nicer than in the pictures. The listing is a very accurate representation of the home. The newly renovated bathrooms were great! The Kayaks, Canoe, Beach Toys, and Kids toys in the house were all a big hit with our crew of 4 Adults and 5 Kids. The house was clean and very well stocked with everything you might need to have a great summer vacation at the lake!

We really enjoyed the area and proximity to Traverse City, Leland, and Sleeping Bear.

As is mentioned in other reviews and in the property description the house has no AC and is located on the M-22. We did not find either to be an issue in June. The house stayed cool with the ventilation fan and the traffic noise did not bother us.

I would highly recommend this property and would love to come stay again soon!
