Homosassa is a wonderful community with down to earth friendly people - the location of our property is perfect - right on the water - close to shopping and great restaurants.
Boating - Kayaking - Jet Ski - Fishing - Bird Watching - See Manatee and Dolphin right out our front door - birds of all kind including a very friendly Blue Heron that loves to visit.
Nice place. Comfy and spacious with lots of dock area and places for kids to enjoy the water and the wildlife. We saw manatees, dolphin, stingrays, and baby wood ducklings.
We did not bring our boat but plan to next time. Even had a bonfire to roast smores. The dock is not covered at all so we used a pop up canopy to provide our own shade - a must if you are fair skinned.
This house is in a excellent location and a great value. I highly recommend it and will be returning again soon!
Our thanks to the owners for making it even more perfect.

We had a wonderful time at the "boat house" as we called it. We brought our boat down with us and were able to borrow a couple kayaks from my parents. The location could not have been more perfect. Located on the main river as opposed to a canal, at the fork of the Halls River and Homosassa River. Easy kayaking distance to the springs (the kids were able to kayak along side our boat). We spent the majority of our time visiting with family that is local to the area, out on the deck. Between the boat rides up to the springs and a couple out to the Gulf, kayaking and just plain relaxing none of us wanted to head back up north. We even extended our stay not once but twice! Growing up in the area but living in other states for the last 20 years with only coming home when visiting family, we forgot what an amazing area Homosassa Springs is. Between the manatees & dolphins (which were out in abundance while we were there), the beautiful scenery, the springs, the clean and well stocked boat house and the screened in gazebo...we will definitely be back renting this property. Several of our friends saw what a great property it is through some pictures and inquired about renting it for family get-aways, one reserved a week before we even left! The owner/property manager was wonderful. We had no issues renting or extending and she was always quick to respond to our emails. The home itself was very clean and well stocked. All we needed to bring was ourselves, suitcases, food and toiletries. We hosted Easter dinner for our family while we were there and had all kitchen items necessary to prepare the meal. We have 2 teenagers and they enjoyed themselves very much. Fishing off the dock, watching a group of manatees play about 50 feet from the dock, swimming in the springs all kept them entertained. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking to relax and enjoy all that Homosassa Springs has to offer.
Our family had another wonderful vacation at the little house on the river. We brought our kayaks and were fortunate enough to see a mother Manatee and her precious baby up at the head of the Springs two days in a row. Though the scallops were not plentiful, we picked up enough for dinner and they were delicious! The weather did not cooperate for a second scallop day, so we headed to the Homosassa Zoo animal sanctuary just 1 mile away and met "Yuma" the baby Florida Panther! He was quite the big baby jumping in his waterfall and pond, and playing with his ball-just a big lucky kitten who has found his forever home! We hope to return to this awesome retreat, and catch up with "Yuma"!
Back in February two fishing buddies and I started thinking about taking a trip. After many hours of looking at a tranquil and inexpensive place to lay our heads at night we happened to stumble on this river house in Homossasa. Thank goodness we did because it was everything we could have been looking for and then some. The property owner could not have been nicer and helpful. The house had plenty of room for the 3 of us. The only drawback was not being able to use the boat lift, but it really didn't matter that much because there was ample room to tie the boat off at the dock, and the water there is almost fresh. I can't wait to take my dad back in the fall when it cools down a little bit.
Our month visit was wonderful. The house provided all we needed. We enjoyed fishing from the dock and watching the manatees. We liked the quiet surroundings and nature along the river. We hiked the many trails in the area as well as canoed several rivers. Would recommend to all for a quiet winter get away.
