Built as a retirement home by an avid fisherman, this house has been used by our family for many years. We love Quimixto! We plan adventurous day trips into Puerto Vallarta, or other locations like the nearby zoo and the botanical garden. We then retreat back to the seclusion of our lovely village with the luxuries of a real beach house apart from it all.
Nature lovers enjoy the ecology of the area with tropical birds, flowers, exotic fruit, marine life. We love getting to know the people in the village, learning spanish, and boogie boarding of course!
Please inquire about our list of day activities we have enjoyed over the years while visiting Quimixto.

We fist visited Casa Pelicanos inDecenber 2014, we fall in love with the place and the service provided.
The house is so comfortable, the area so quiet and peaceful, but most important we feel safe as the caretaker always keep an eye on the property for wathevet you might need, they make you feel like family.
We been there three times and had make it now our new vacation spot.
You won't be sorry when you visit Casa Pelicanos
Our family of 4 stayed for almost 10 days at Casa Pelicanos this spring... As I write this, three months later, I can still find that feeling in me of absolute relaxation that we found there. Quimixto is a very small village, accessible only by boat, and simply being without the constant hum of traffic that is so pervasive in our world was incredibly refreshing. This is not a vacation rental for folks who want lots of tourist-town life -- this is a vacation for those who want to see the real coastal Mexico and connect with the people of Mexico in a deeper way than a "tourist" ever could. Raul and Palita were wonderfully helpful .. Palita's cooking is incredible. Raul took us out for a day of ocean fishing. My 11-year-old returned wide-eyed with amazement -- he caught 40-something fish (we ate some, and Raul took some to sell in town). What an incredible vacation. We're going back next year, we hope!
Great spot, no wifi, but sand, waves, quiet, friendly town. An amazing spot for the family, kids had a blast, Raul is an amazing help, not to mention the amazing food from Paulita, delivered to your door! We would go back anytime!
We stayed in Casa Pelicano from 10/26 to 11/16/15, the house was adequate and exactly as described, it was roomy and adequately furnished. The kitchen had all the necessities to cook your own meals. The Ocean is literally your front yard and is a perfect location for enjoying the sound of the waves or just gazing out to sea. It is a very tranquil and relaxing part of Mexico.
If you need a getaway from your cell and your emails this is the perfect spot to do it.
We found the village to be very sparse and minimal in the way of food and other provisions so you better shop in Puerto Vallarta before coming into Quimixto .
If you have sensitive skin or are prone to insect bites, this may not be the place for you, especially during the time of the year that the bugs and mosquitos are prevalent. This is at the base of the rainforest so it is to be expected. They had a feast on my body!!
It is however absolutely beautiful for swimming and fishing . We really enjoyed Charlie's restaurant about 100 yards from the house, he is an excellent cook. Also Coco's makes great Ceviche and fabulous Margaritas and that is about 50 yards from the house.
the care takers Raul and Paulita are wonderful people and will do all they can to make your stay comfortable. Our day trips to Yelapa and Los Animas were very enjoyable where you can find clean restaurants and bars,
My rating of 3 stars is only because of the disappointment I had of the village and the hygiene conditions throughout.
We knew we were in for a treat from the pictures and info we had ahead of time. But we couldn't have predicted how much we'd love all the people, the food, the pace, the way we found something grounded and peaceful inside ourselves being surrounded by so much beauty and so much simplicity. Some highlights: the beach and view; Raul and Palita, who made sure of everything; Palita's cooking (including hot dogs y pappas fritas at the stand in the eve); boogie boarding; the waterfall and jumping off the cliff; hike and beach at Las Animas; our house dog, Punto; meeting all our neighbors; Cocos (the restaurant); cocos (that Raul cut fresh off the tree); riding the pangas; being unplugged (no cell phone signal); sunsets; everything!
If you are looking to escape from a crazy busy life in the city, where you are commuting for hours or checking emails constantly, then this is the place for you! Quimixto is a small fishing village, about 35 minute from P.V by water taxi. Staying there for a week certainly showed us the 'true' Mexico, and we had fun getting to know some of the locals and their way of life. Be prepared however, as there are no doctors, no vehicles, few stores, no ATM machines. You have to come with all the Mexican currency you will need (unless you are willing to travel back to PV to restock your money and supplies). There is no internet (a huge benefit in my opinion!). The ocean is steps from the house (ensure you have a bowl to wash the sand from your feet before entering the house or you will be sweeping constantly!), bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the waves, dogs and roosters will wake you up! Quimixto feels very safe, it is very friendly, and we can't say enough about the hospitality of the caretakers, Raul and his wife Palita. You should learn some basic Spanish to converse with the locals, although we knew very little and got by. A great place for kids, Jen supplies beach toys, although I would suggest bringing life jackets as the waves can get very large. Overall, a great holiday, and I really appreciated the letter prior to arrival to help us get prepared for our trip. This is NOT an all inclusive, this is a getaway with a touch of adventure. If you want to experience the real Mexico, and are happy to live without the luxury, this is the place for you!
Quimixto is a fishing village that also thrives on small scale tourism offering horseback riding, scenic tours, fishing tours, small locally run cafe/restaurant, local food vendors, and mercados/ small grocery shops. Local cuisine includes fresh fish entrees such as ceviche, fresh coconut, and oysters in the nearby village of Las Animas.
Come to Quimixto and stay in this lovely beach house with optimal privacy RIGHT on the beach. Enjoy exploring the village, taking in A+ beach time, world class fishing opportunities, & day trips by foot, or the frequently running public water taxis.
Then the ferry comes to the village, the community comes alive with festivities including food stands, shopping, horseback and the offering of scenic tours, pictures with iguanas, and vendors on main street.
In the warm evening, take a stroll into town along the foot path for more low-key local life- have dinner at the local hamburger cart, see the delightful village in its true element with kids running around and townspeople visiting.
Visitors can spend the afternoon hiking along the coastal well worn path to the nearby village of Las Animas for a drink and a plate of fresh oysters from your choice of several restaurants. Las Animas also offers a zip line and parasailing- google it to make reservations.
From Boca Tomatlan you catch the 15 minute panga ride to Quimixto, day trips are possible to the zoo and the botanical gardens.
Beach combing, boogie boarding, FISHING, sunbathing, swiming, surfer watching, whale and dolphin watching from the porch, kite flying, frisbee... Truly a memorable experience and unique.
