Chimo House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Sleeps 5 -6

A clean cozy beachhouse to relax and reconnect ~ escape from it all to simple paradise!! 40 minutes from old town Puerto Vallarta by taxi/bus to Boca Tomatlan and a 10 minute panga water taxi ride from Boca to sweet south bay village of QUIMIXTO. This fully equipped home is surrounded by private yard and gardens, magnificent views, and beach! Very safe and secure surroundings with care taker off property, but nearby. Services such as cooking and cleaning available upon request, or do it yourself. GREAT SURFING, and also a kids beach! The house was built for its perfect fishing location and perfect beach spot for special family time.

Custom designed and built as a get-away retreat and to enjoy the Puerto Vallarta Bay of Banderas area away from the stimulation of Puerto Vallarta- but a quick trip in. Quimixto has cobblestone paths, NO CARS, horses, water falls, local culture, and is a clean tropical paradise. This is a rustic setting and since there are no cars it takes some physical abilities to transverse to the pier to catch water taxis. There is a creek that divides the town in half, it is never too deep to cross by foot, however it does widen in the rain season... slow moving and easy to cross, at times there is a foot bridge and at times not. Pick-up, navigational, and baggage assistance is available upon request for first day arrival guests. Caretaker has ATV.

House has large windows and glass doors so one can see straight out underneath our coconut trees to Puerto Vallarta just a short distance across the bay~ Spectacular stunning views of the coast line across the bay.

Two private bedrooms w/bathrooms. One bedroom w/ queen, one bedroom w/ 2 twins. Fully equipped kitchen, fishing gear, sand toys, boogie board makes it a beach home away from home.

Bancos in living area provide additional sleeping options that can be discussed. Relax in the hammock or in porch chairs under the large expansive porch.

Beautiful common area, set between the two bedrooms. The home has cushioned buncos with pillows, and a full kitchen set-up.

Sunny and delightful ~ trimmed with beautiful detail, carved wooden windows, and some local artwork. Inspiration and relaxation is here to be found.

One acre property is fenced all around with one gate leading to the village, the other to the beach. If additional pampering is desired, meals can be ordered from Palita our home host, daily or on demand housekeeping can be arranged, and clothes washing.

SIGHTSEE right from the house whales, dolphins, sailboats, and cruise ships off in the distance. Excellent FISHING, guides/gear available in village. Best swell for SURFING on the bay, or HIKING or HORSEBACK rides to the waterfall, nearby village of Las Animas for FRESH OYSTERS. Rent a KAYAK. Swiming, snorkling, horseback riding.

In the peak season, there are vendors selling ceviche, fresh fruits, fish, coconuts, and the fresh pies the south bay villages are know for. We have a detailed list of day trips for visitors, please inquire.

House hosts can be arranged upon request and additional fee to pick you up at the pier in Boca Tomatlan and they will then take you and your luggage right to the home your first day of arrival.

Pick up your groceries in Puerto Vallarta, or buy your food from the several stores in the village which are only stocked up in peak season, or groceries can be brought to the house for your arrival by the house host, just supply a list ahead of time. There are several good restaurants in Quimixto during the tourist season!!

Day trip to the busy village of Yelapa, or the (magnificent) Zoo & simply world class beautiful Botanical Gardens. Take a hike to the nearby beach of Las Animas and catch the panga back. Guides available for boat journeys & excellent seasonal WHALE WATCHING, mtn hikes, surf instruction, language instruction, etc.

Come enjoy this tranquil setting tucked away from time in a this rustic south bay village.

About Jennifer and William Silveman

Originally built as a seasonal retirement home by my father, an avid fisherman, this house has been used by family for many years. We enjoy exploring the family friendly, safe village of Quimixto with our children. We plan adventurous day trips into Puerto Vallarta, or other locations like the nearby zoo and the botanical garden. We then retreat back to the seclusion of rustic Quimixto and the luxuries of a real beach house apart from it all.

True nature lovers enjoy the ecology of the area with tropical birds, flowers, exotic fruit, marine life. We love getting to know the people in the village, learning spanish, and boogie boarding of course!

Please inquire about our list of day activities we have enjoyed over the years while visiting Quimixto.

Jennifer and William Silveman purchased this house in 1998

Why Jennifer and William Silveman chose Jalisco

Enjoy the relaxation and rejuvenation gained from a stay in this spacious & cozy 2 bedrm casa right on the bay of Banderas with all the amenities of home.

This reknown surfer beach and fishing village is the ideal choice for avid fisherman, retirees, family, honeymooners, children, artists, surfers, and those looking for a break from the rat race, to connect, unwind, renew, and collect oneself.

This fully equipped beach house, on the edge of the quaint village of Quimixto, is half an hour from Puerto Vallarta by boat and road. Easily accessible public water taxis run regularly and the house hosts charter personal boats for our guests.

PERSONAL HOTSPOT IS required for internet access at this time- and this works because the cell phone signal is mostly fair to middling. Great on the porch, gets a little shotty towards the back of the house. Smart phones, or laptops/tablets, with hot spot 3G data package work fine for internet and email.

What makes this house unique

Our beautiful beach house and the village of Quimixto offer a unique and memorable secluded vacation site away from traffic, hustle and bustle in your own safe & beautiful tropical paradise! Enjoy vacation time with family and friends.

~ Casa de las Olas ~ this enchanting original designed beachhouse, was custom built by our family in the rustic fishing village of Quimixto. Perfect for Avid Fishermen- ask about gear and chartered trips from the house.

The home is surrounded by gardens, natural beauty, and privacy.

Raul and Palita will take care of all your needs, meals, cleaning, shopping, or fishing trips. Access to many activities such as surfing, horseback riding, snorkeling, hiking, or just sitting on the great large covered porch enjoying the scenarie go by- as well as a many options of fun adventurous day trips.

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed for almost 10 days at Casa Pelicanos this spring... As I write this, three months later, I can still find that feeling in me of absolute relaxation that we found there. Quimixto is a very small village, accessible only by boat, and simply being without the constant hum of traffic that is so pervasive in our world was incredibly refreshing. This is not a vacation rental for folks who want lots of tourist-town life -- this is a vacation for those who want to see the real coastal Mexico and connect with the people of Mexico in a deeper way than a "tourist" ever could. Raul and Palita were wonderfully helpful .. Palita's cooking is incredible. Raul took us out for a day of ocean fishing. My 11-year-old returned wide-eyed with amazement -- he caught 40-something fish (we ate some, and Raul took some to sell in town). What an incredible vacation. We're going back next year, we hope!

A village back in time

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in Casa Pelicano from 10/26 to 11/16/15, the house was adequate and exactly as described, it was roomy and adequately furnished. The kitchen had all the necessities to cook your own meals. The Ocean is literally your front yard and is a perfect location for enjoying the sound of the waves or just gazing out to sea. It is a very tranquil and relaxing part of Mexico.

If you need a getaway from your cell and your emails this is the perfect spot to do it.

We found the village to be very sparse and minimal in the way of food and other provisions so you better shop in Puerto Vallarta before coming into Quimixto .

If you have sensitive skin or are prone to insect bites, this may not be the place for you, especially during the time of the year that the bugs and mosquitos are prevalent. This is at the base of the rainforest so it is to be expected. They had a feast on my body!!

It is however absolutely beautiful for swimming and fishing . We really enjoyed Charlie's restaurant about 100 yards from the house, he is an excellent cook. Also Coco's makes great Ceviche and fabulous Margaritas and that is about 50 yards from the house.

the care takers Raul and Paulita are wonderful people and will do all they can to make your stay comfortable. Our day trips to Yelapa and Los Animas were very enjoyable where you can find clean restaurants and bars,

My rating of 3 stars is only because of the disappointment I had of the village and the hygiene conditions throughout.

Owner's Response: Hi Vince, thank you for your review. You were the first guest of the season and since tourist season is just starting the villagers are coming out of the hot season with little income. As the season goes on and tourist start showing up local economy is stimulated. As the season goes on, the stores are more stocked and the village is cleaned up more in my experience. Thank you for your stay and I am glad the home met your satisfaction. kindest regards

More than we imagined!

  • 5 of 5

We knew we were in for a treat from the pictures and info we had ahead of time. But we couldn't have predicted how much we'd love all the people, the food, the pace, the way we found something grounded and peaceful inside ourselves being surrounded by so much beauty and so much simplicity. Some highlights: the beach and view; Raul and Palita, who made sure of everything; Palita's cooking (including hot dogs y pappas fritas at the stand in the eve); boogie boarding; the waterfall and jumping off the cliff; hike and beach at Las Animas; our house dog, Punto; meeting all our neighbors; Cocos (the restaurant); cocos (that Raul cut fresh off the tree); riding the pangas; being unplugged (no cell phone signal); sunsets; everything!

Owner's Response: Judy and Perry, thank you for your review. Yes, it is a special place, and really hard to express how unusual of a situation it is these days to be in a place like Quimixto. Raul and Palita are excellent house hosts and it has been good for them and their lovely family to meet and serve the guests. As for cell phone, we have verizon and can always call and text from the house. Have not had much success with hot spot. There is a new internet cafe by the Pie Ladie's house in Quimixto that the teens are using, very rustic, but they do sell some nice deserts- all open air seating, of course ;) Hope to have you all again- we LOVE return guests.

Retreat from hectic lives!

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking to escape from a crazy busy life in the city, where you are commuting for hours or checking emails constantly, then this is the place for you! Quimixto is a small fishing village, about 35 minute from P.V by water taxi. Staying there for a week certainly showed us the 'true' Mexico, and we had fun getting to know some of the locals and their way of life. Be prepared however, as there are no doctors, no vehicles, few stores, no ATM machines. You have to come with all the Mexican currency you will need (unless you are willing to travel back to PV to restock your money and supplies). There is no internet (a huge benefit in my opinion!). The ocean is steps from the house (ensure you have a bowl to wash the sand from your feet before entering the house or you will be sweeping constantly!), bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the waves, dogs and roosters will wake you up! Quimixto feels very safe, it is very friendly, and we can't say enough about the hospitality of the caretakers, Raul and his wife Palita. You should learn some basic Spanish to converse with the locals, although we knew very little and got by. A great place for kids, Jen supplies beach toys, although I would suggest bringing life jackets as the waves can get very large. Overall, a great holiday, and I really appreciated the letter prior to arrival to help us get prepared for our trip. This is NOT an all inclusive, this is a getaway with a touch of adventure. If you want to experience the real Mexico, and are happy to live without the luxury, this is the place for you!

Local cuisine includes fresh fish entrees such as ceviche, fresh coconut, and oysters in the nearby village of Las Animas.

Come to Quimixto and stay in this lovely beach house with optimal privacy RIGHT on the beach. Enjoy exploring the village, taking in A+ beach time, world class fishing opportunities, & day trips by foot, or the frequently running public water taxis.

Visitors can spend the afternoon hiking along the coastal well worn path to the nearby village of Las Animas for a drink and a plate of fresh oysters from your choice of several restaurants. Las Animas also offers a zip line and parasailing- google it to make reservations.
