Overview

About the property

Steps away from the water, friendly town

The Parsonage was built in 1836 and was restored between 2001 and 2010. The house has a large front porch with rockers and a table for coffee or lunch. There are three bedrooms on the second level. The master bedroom has a queen bed with en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Guest room#1 has a queen bed with private sink that opens into a shared bathroom. Guestroom#2 (Loft) has a sleep number full sized bed with shared bathroom. The large guest bathroom includes walk-in shower and claw foot soaking tub. A washer and dryer are in a separate room.

The main level of the house includes a parlor a game room with television, couch and foosball table, puzzles and books. The kitchen is an open plan with dining room and sun room. There is also a bathroom with a shower on the main living level.

The house was renovated following a fire so everything is new. Bathrooms are all ceramic tile and the kitchen has granite counter tops with an eat in table and a built in bar for gathering around. The kitchen contains everything you will need including basic pantry items. Back deck has a grill and two sheds that contain bikes for your use to get around town even though everything is in walking distance.

The Wharf is only steps away where you can rent kayaks, bikes, fish or crab from the dock or take the ferry to visit Tangier Island for the day. There is a public boat ramp at the same location. If you have a boat there is so much to explore. Onancock Creek is about 4 miles long and opens up into the Chesapeake Bay. The area is pristine with secluded beaches all up and down the coast.

If the ocean is your thing, Assateague National Park is about a 35 minute drive to the North. It is the closest beach with surf and easy parking. The town of Chincoteague is a fun day trip.

The town of Onancock has a charm all its own. It has a small town feel where your kids can walk down the street and go fishing and you don't have to worry about them.

We keep this home as chemical free as possible. We use organic plant based cleaners with essential oils to cut down on allergies and chemical exposures.

About Kathi Williams

We have lived in Northern Virginia for 35 years. Onancock is our weekend getaway. We spent nearly 10 years (of weekends) renovating the house after a fire. The house originally belonged to the historic Cokesbury Church and was the home of the minister. We got caught up in the story and decided to renovate instead of tearing it down. It contains the original heart pine floors in the master bedroom and the beams on the main floor are original. We filled it with some our favorite things, some antiques, some new furniture and just love coming here.

Kathi Williams purchased this house in 2001

Why Kathi Williams chose Onancock

It is a wonderful getaway where you can let your hair down and relax! We love to cycle, kayak and boat so this was the perfect place for us.

What makes this house unique

You can sit on the front porch in a rocking chair and watch the fishing boats go up and down the creek while you drink your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. Whether you are a friend or a stranger, neighbors wave as they walk by. In the summer, you can buy fresh fish right across the street. There is also a farmer's market on Saturdays where you can purchase fresh picked produce and some local seafood. We love that the restaurants are only steps away. The sunsets are beautiful sitting on the deck at Mallards Restaurant.

MAGICAL HOME

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot express how welcoming and charming this home is. I rented it for a get away girls trip to celebrate a friend's birthday. The home is quaint and roomy, decorated with antiques and has a coastal feel, but not over the top. If you want to cook, there is more than enough room for many cooks in the kitchen and it is outfitted with all the supplies one would need. None of us wanted to leave!

The pictures here are amazing but they really do not do this house justice! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone planning a visit to the Eastern Shore. It is centrally located so you can go out for day trips to the south or to the north. Don't miss the stores in town and donuts from the Corner Bakery. We didn't have a lot of time so we only tried the Charlotte Hotel restaurant and it was fabulous. Ecotour with Meriwether Payne was an absolutely amazing day- she is so passionate about the area! Take the ferry to Tangier Island- you will not be disappointed!!

Lovely historic home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Onancock. The home is beautifully appointed with antiques and seaside decor. The location of the home puts everything in the village within walking distance. This was our second stay at the Williams' home, and we look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful and well maintained home

  • 5 of 5

The Parsonage is a beautiful and well maintained home in the very attractive town of Onancock, Virginia. It is only steps away from the small harbor and easy walking distance into the heart of town with it's numerous good restaurants and art galleries. Our host, Kathi, was quite helpful as we made arrangements, and she and husband Scott did a magnificent job of rebuilding the home after it was severely damaged by fire during the time of a previous owner. If you share the home with two other couples, as we did with good friends, you will also find that it is quite a bargain.

Beautiful and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely and interesting house. Roomy kitchen that's great for food prep and visiting with family at the same time. We were mostly off with relatives, but coming home at night to sleep here was a delight. Sweet little town, short walk to the water. Internet spotty, but quickly reset after a phone call. Comfy bed, roomy bathrooms. Altogether delightful space.

Great time and Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this fine house in the charming town of Onancock. This home is beautiful, comfortable, and has everything one could need. The history of the house and the photos of the renovations was really interesting. Onancock is an adorable little town with restaurants, bakeries, and shops and a walking tour of the town's grand old homes and building history. We walked everywhere. We were also fortunate that our visit coincided with the Eastern Shore Art Studio Tour and came home with many wonderful new art treasures. Kathi is great to work with and the reservation process was stress free. This trip was a Mom and daughters get away weekend and we are already planning when we can return (luckily we only live about an hour away)!
