This property is owned by two brothers who have lived in the Engelhard area and Hyde County all their lives. They are from a third generation commercial fishing family. They presently own a fish house business which buys local seafood. They have owned this property for several years and decided to build this lodge to give others the opportunity to come and enjoy the same area they have enjoyed all their life.

Time away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent 4 days at the Hyde County Lodges in March of this year. The lodges are spectacular on the inside, no detail has been over looked. The view from the porch is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a quite secluded get away this is the place for you. The town is small but you are only a little over an hour away from the Outer Banks if you want to have a tourist type of day. The owners were on site to help with anything we needed. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a city this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a place to drop a fishing line in the water, sit back with a good book and watch the sunset then this place should be on your list.

Clean and Cozy Lodge In a Beautiful Area

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three nights at the lodge in February for a long weekend getaway. We chose it because it was close to the Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Reserve and we wanted to photograph birds and other wildlife. Nature and the weather cooperated and we found many wonderful photo opportunities! The surrounding area is beautiful! The lodge was very comfortable to come back to (and very clean too); Karen and Dell were friendly and inviting. We hope to return again--my husband wants to do some fishing on our next trip. I have already recommended Hyde County Lodges to other photographers in my Camera Club. A group of us are currently trying to coordinate a springtime trip in May, so I WILL be back soon!

An Outstanding Stay

  • 5 of 5

My brother and I are recently retired and we were looking for a peaceful three trip.

We were particularly interested in discovering more about fishing the Pamlico Sound.

I can wholeheartedly attest that our stay at Hyde County Lodges was completely satisfying and memorable. The owners, Dale and Karen, are such quality individuals that we quickly made friends. They are a special couple and made sure that we had every possible need met to make our trip great. Our experience was so terrific that we signed up on the spot for a week next year.

Relaxing, clean, and awesome view

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband along with our daughters and nephew stayed at this lovely property and really enjoyed the way we were able to relax. Karen and Dell are so friendly and such great owners and they made sure we had whatever we needed. They even let me borrow their net to go crabbing which was a great experience that I've never encountered before. The fishing pier is literally right outside of the property and we enjoyed watching the fishing boats come by all day. It was exciting for my nephew as well. The property is very clean and updated and the furniture is comfortable. All you need to bring is food, fishing equipment if you like and a nice book to read on the screened in porch or the swing. If you enjoy the beach, but not the crowd this place is for you. You're close enough to the beach to go for a day and return to the property where all you hear is the water of the sound. I haven't slept as well as I slept here in a long time. It was a great getaway!

Our getaway vacation couldn't have been better! We came to relax and fish, and was pleasantly surprised with the hospitality of owners Karen and Dell, who were there if you needed them and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Lodge was very clean and updated, including a washing machine, dryer, heater fan in the bathroom, air conditioning, wi-fi and Dish TV. Beds and furniture extremely comfortable. We brought food to cook our own meals and had the use of pots and pans, dishware, cooking utensils, charcoal grill, etc. - everything you would need! Next time we'll shop at the local Red & White instead of hauling our own groceries, as it's only 5 minutes down the road and has reasonable prices. Fishing supplies were found at the quaint general store, also 5 minutes away. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax, but close enough to the Outer Banks to fish, enjoy the tourist activities, visit Kitty Hawk, or just take in the beautiful scenery including sunrises and sunsets from the front porch of the lodge, this is the place for you. Highly recommended. Thank you Karen and Dell for a fabulous vacation!

Incredible sound front view

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week here and really enjoyed it. We came back for another week in September because we were very impressed with the excellent quality of the lodge. It was very clean, cozy and well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies. We kayaked every day, sat on the pier and watched the fishing boats go by. The owners Karen and Dell were very accommodating when we had a need which was seldom because everything was already taken care of. The sunrise over the Pamlico Sound was absolutely breathtaking, Martell's Restaurant had delicious food and service was great. The Dollar General had just about anything you might need or forgot to bring. We did some reading because it was such a serene place. We also watched a couple of movies, the t.v. had many channels, although we mostly stayed outside it was such a beautiful place and the owners were two doors down and very friendly! We can't wait to go back this year!
