New construction waterfront cabin on over 200' of beach.
Enjoy breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, the Seattle skyline and the North Cascades from this cozy, two-story beach cabin.
This unique property -- Double Bluff Beach Club -- boasts 200 feet of no-bank waterfront on over three acres of beach. Meander 1/4 mile down a private drive and ascend stone stairs to this piece of paradise perched about the trees.
Soak in summer sun from a gorgeous, custom-built deck, or stroll along a sand and driftwood trail to the water's edge. On an enchanted evening, dine beneath the stars or head down to the fire pit to roast marshmallows, to tell stories and to sing songs around a campfire. Just outside the house is a partially covered patio complete with comfortable furniture, a barbecue grill, a dinner bell, a warm outdoor shower and lots of hooks to hang towels and gear from a memorable day at the beach.
Inside you'll find all the comforts of home coupled with unique Island charm. This top-to-bottom remodel is beautiful, bright, and EVERY room has a view! Curl up on the comfy couch with a good book, play board games around the coffee table or simply kick back, take a nap and relax.
The cabin features gleaming, original 1930's wood floors and a fully stocked kitchen/dining area with granite counter tops, bar stools and all-new stainless steel appliances. The family-friendly living room frames picture windows and just beyond it reside a 3/4 bathroom with a granite vanity, a linen closet and the main floor bedroom with a queen bed, new carpet, a built-in closet and that spectacular view!
Descend the spiral staircase to the bunk room. The kiddos will go crazy over two custom bunk beds and two built-in berths, each with its own storage area and night light. The kids' room is complete with puzzles, games and ample room to play. The lower level also features new carpet, a second bedroom with a queen bed and its own private entrance, and a full bath with an over-sized washer and dryer.
DBBC is located at Double Bluff Beach and County Park, a premier spot for outdoor water sports and activities including fishing, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, kiteboarding, skimboarding and paddleboarding. The cabin is minutes away from grocery shopping in Freeland and the Saturday Bayview Farmer's Market (late Apr-Oct). While you are here, be sure to visit Langley -- South Whidbey's charming, seaside village -- for strolling, shopping, whale watching and dining.

About Paul Tschetter
Two families purchased this home in late 2012 after meeting through a shared interest in kiteboarding. One of the families lives right here on Whidbey Island. The other family live in Seattle.

Why Paul Tschetter chose Island County
Useless Bay is unmatched, and this property is amazing! The remodel was a serious labor of love, but it was well-worth the effort. We had a vision for this dusty old diamond in the rough; we believed it could be updated and enjoyed by future generations of families.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin sits perched 40' up on Double Buff, but it still has direct waterfront access. The lot is 200' wide and over 3 acres. It's beautiful!

It was wonderful
I can't wait to do it again next year
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad you had a wonderful time and look forward to hosting you again next year!
Was very nice!!
We all enjoyed our stay here at this Whidbey Island property. The facility was adequate---lots of steps to go up and down for Santa Claus as we were there over Christmas!! 51 steps in fact one way!! Was a good work out. Wish we would have had TV to see football games---but went to a local bar/café and watched there. The view was fantastic!! Could see Mt. Rainer and buildings in downtown Seattle.
A dog's life
My son Sam and our dogs Jack and Yogi had a wonderful weekend at the house on Double Bluff Road. The house is comfortable and really well equipped (sharp knives!), the view to the south—all the way to the lights of Seattle's skyline—is 180° and spectacular, and the dune/beach area is fantastic for trying to tire out the dogs. We'll definitely be back.
Beautiful view at a quiet spot.
We spent 2 nights at this home and were very happy with our choice of location. The owner was great to let us squeeze in at the last minute and was very prompt to address our questions upon arrival. Additionally, he accommodated our need to check out a couple hours late. It was a huge blessing to us!
I was extremely happy to find the beds very comfortable, which I do not usually find to be the case while on vacation. I am terribly spoiled with my bed at home...LOL. All three of us wanted to extend our stay as the location and the view could not have suited us better. I would think this home would be fantastic for two couples and 4 kids to be very comfortable! The only downside is that you have to be ready for all the stairs. Had we been travelling with my grandmother, as we have in the past, she never would have been able to make it up them. We did fine.
Our little dog was welcomed to stay with us and she loved it here, too. There is a large yard sort of area that we were able to walk and potty her in without getting her covered in sand. But, she loved her trip down to the water, too. An easy walk down a short path, directly from the house's stairs, takes you right to the water! Then, when you return, there is an outdoor shower to rinse off feet so you don't track sand into the house. Don't forget your slippers...this is a "no shoes allowed" home!
I enjoyed the offering of an assortment of books, got hooked on one that I didn't finish and wound up reserving it through the library on the way home...hahaha. There were also several games to entertain a family. We had the option of watching tv on two TVs that offer things like Hulu or Netflix, but we opted to enjoy the view and quiet time during our short stay. Even during the busiest time of mid-day, there were still only a dozen or so people at the beach and the deck was very quiet, shaded and relaxing.
My one star reduction is simply for the trek up the stairs. Other than that minor item and a couple things not worth mentioning here, we could not have been happier with our stay. I think we would stay here again but not with extended family as our 17yo son is 6'3" and there would not be beds for my parents and him at the same time., which is our typical gang of travellers. For this trip that did not include the extra tall kiddo or dad...it was perfect!
Amazing house and perfect location~!
We stayed here with some friends last weekend for a wedding we were going to on Saturday. We are so happy we were able to come on Friday and enjoy the house and the beach and the entire weekend and that we didnt stay in a motel for one night. The view from the porch and entire house is just gorgeous and it is very close to walk down to the beach and explore. Everything you might need is here and house is beautifully decorated! Highly recommend. Our friends kept saying "we need to come back here again!" and "Nice job finding this house".
Glad you enjoyed your stay at Double Bluff Beach Club. Please come back any time!
Lovely, relaxing home
We had a family get together. Home had a very lovely feel. Extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen was beautiful and great to cook in. The best part was the pateo and view. We spent hours on it. Owners are very accommodating in case you need something. My advice is read their book! It has dining suggestions and adventure offerings. I didn't read all the way and realized they have kayaks and paddle boards available right on sight to rent. The only caution is the stairs. There are 54. No problem for adults and kids, but hard on older folks or if you have bad knees. We had a very memorable experience and would stay again.
Whidbey Island is home to many special events throughout the year including Island County Fair, Penn Cove Mussel Festival, Whidbey Island Kite Festival, Choochokam Arts Festival, Maxwelton 4th of July Parade, Djangofest and Langley Mystery Weekend.
