Enjoy breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, the Seattle skyline and the North Cascades from this cozy, two-story beach cabin.
This unique property -- Double Bluff Beach Club -- boasts 200 feet of no-bank waterfront on over three acres of beach. Meander 1/4 mile down a private drive and ascend stone stairs to this piece of paradise perched about the trees.
Soak in summer sun from a gorgeous, custom-built deck, or stroll along a sand and driftwood trail to the water's edge. On an enchanted evening, dine beneath the stars or head down to the fire pit to roast marshmallows, to tell stories and to sing songs around a campfire. Just outside the house is a partially covered patio complete with comfortable furniture, a barbecue grill, a dinner bell, a warm outdoor shower and lots of hooks to hang towels and gear from a memorable day at the beach.
Inside you'll find all the comforts of home coupled with unique Island charm. This top-to-bottom remodel is beautiful, bright, and EVERY room has a view! Curl up on the comfy couch with a good book, play board games around the coffee table or simply kick back, take a nap and relax.
The cabin features gleaming, original 1930's wood floors and a fully stocked kitchen/dining area with granite counter tops, bar stools and all-new stainless steel appliances. The family-friendly living room frames picture windows and just beyond it reside a 3/4 bathroom with a granite vanity, a linen closet and the main floor bedroom with a queen bed, new carpet, a built-in closet and that spectacular view!
Descend the spiral staircase to the bunk room. The kiddos will go crazy over two custom bunk beds and two built-in berths, each with its own storage area and night light. The kids' room is complete with puzzles, games and ample room to play. The lower level also features new carpet, a second bedroom with a queen bed and its own private entrance, and a full bath with an over-sized washer and dryer.
DBBC is located at Double Bluff Beach and County Park, a premier spot for outdoor water sports and activities including fishing, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, kiteboarding, skimboarding and paddleboarding. The cabin is minutes away from grocery shopping in Freeland and the Saturday Bayview Farmer's Market (late Apr-Oct). While you are here, be sure to visit Langley -- South Whidbey's charming, seaside village -- for strolling, shopping, whale watching and dining.
Whidbey Island is a gem, home to magical memories and often referred to as 'the shortest distance to far away.' Many have been inspired and rejuvenated by this place, and year after year they continue to return. Double Bluff Beach Club is no different. We think you will LOVE it here!

Two families purchased this home in late 2012 after meeting through a shared interest in kiteboarding. One of the families lives right here on Whidbey Island. The other family live in Seattle.
Paul Tschetter purchased this cabin in 2012
Useless Bay is unmatched, and this property is amazing! The remodel was a serious labor of love, but it was well-worth the effort. We had a vision for this dusty old diamond in the rough; we believed it could be updated and enjoyed by future generations of families.
The cabin sits perched 40' up on Double Buff, but it still has direct waterfront access. The lot is 200' wide and over 3 acres. It's beautiful!
We had a great week at our favorite Whidbey Beach. Thank you for sharing your lovely house with us! Great location, amazing to watch the change in tides from the kitchen windows.
Our group was 3 adults, 4 kids (10-16) and a dog. The house is cute, clean and has some nice updates, especially the upstairs. We loved all of the windows and the views are absolutely beautiful! A great place for older kids due to the steep spiral staircase. Our dog had the time of his life running off leash at the beach. Paul, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating. We would definitely rent it again in warmer weather so we could take advantage of the large deck and outdoor table. The living area is on the smaller side and doesn't have a table, just four bar stools. Very doable just a little tight. Overall, a great place!
Nice location, but the cleanliness and customer service were poor. The night we arrived, we noticed that the handrail was detached at the bottom of the spiral staircase, offering no support, which was a problem because we have young kids. That evening, we texted the owners about the rail and the cleanliness. The owner offered to fix it the next day, but never responded to the cleanliness issue. This was the filthiest accommodation I have ever seen. I wish I could post pictures. The coffee maker was very dirty, the downstairs bath had a hundred or more dead bugs in the corners along with cobwebs, the stairwell mirror had a clump of dead flies stuck in a cobweb, the downstairs clock was in a similar state, the downstairs ceiling had bugs and cobwebs stuck to it, the downstairs bedroom closet shelf had debris and thick piles of sawdust on it, the kitchen counter was filthy with dust and jelly, a spatula had left-over food on it, the kitchen cabinet above the coffee maker had dead bugs in it, there were dog hairs on the coffee table, a filthy fridge top, dustbunnies throughout the place, and more. In isolation, any of these things are bound to happen. In this case, there were just too many dirty areas. We cleaned up dead bugs laying in the sinks or on counters because we needed to access those areas. It was filthy. Along with paying the cleaning fee, you’ll need to empty the trash and take it down to the barrel, wipe fridge shelves, clean dishes, strip all the used linens and start a load of laundry. I understand every property will do things differently, but considering how filthy it was along with the cleaning fee, it seemed ridiculous. I mentioned the filthiness again to the owner upon checkout. They mentioned that the issues were due to the age of the cottage. Of course, this is not the case; in fact, I liked that aspect of the property. Every single item I detailed above had nothing to do with the age, rather what seemed to be a lack of engagement in managing the cleanliness and safety of the property. A walk-through addressing these problems was needed after mentioning this the first night. Instead, they totally ignored the very politely written comment about it. I suppose the strength of the location has garnered such strong reviews. I only wish I could post pictures on VRBO. I emailed the pictures to customer service. Perhaps there is a way to view them. No vacation property should look like this. DBBC made the vacation unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Fantastic spot. Super clean, lovely kitchen and amazing views. You are living at the one of the most beautiful beaches in Washington. We will definitely be going back.
So wonderful to be right on Double Bluff Beach! Short walk through beach grass to one of the best sand beaches on the island. Great for families with kids. Pretty close quarters on the main floor and no dining room, but well-appointed and clean. Beautiful new kitchen, great lighting, beautiful bathrooms. Lots of beach knick knacks and a small library. Great appliances. Stove/oven didn't work on the first day but owner had it fixed right away.
The staircase up to the front do or is a bit intimidating - not good for folks with leg or knee problems. Also no screens in windows so got a little stuffy or we had to deal with flies.
I wanted to celebrate a momentous birthday with my family, and this was the perfect setting that provided something for everyone...gorgeous views, beach play, kayaking, long walks at low tide, wildlife sightings (bald eagles!) and great proximity to Langley shops and restaurants.
Paul was gracious in every way, and the home was exactly what we imagined it would be.
I will definitely plan on heading back!
