Split Rock has an indoor water park called H20.

For Warmer Weather:

Hiking: This house is about 10 minutes from Hickory Run State Park which has many great hiking trails. Two of our favorites are Hawk Falls and Shades of Death. Hawk falls is an easy hike (under 2 miles round trip). You can jump into the waterfall (although probably not allowed if park rangers are around) also visit Boulder field in the same park. You can hike to Boulder Field but we usually drive. The trail head for Shades of Death is located next to the park office.

Another great hike, The Glen Onoko Falls trail, is just outside of Jim Thorpe. A steep hike with many waterfalls along the way (tough hike). Our favorite!!!! One of our favorite places to visit is the town of Jim Thorpe. About 30 a minute drive. An adorable town, wine tasting in building near train station, cute stores on Broadway and Race street. We often eat at Broadway Grill and Pub. We also enjoyed the tour of the jail where some Molly Maguire's we're hung.

Another hike, which is extremely difficult but has great views is at the Delaware Water Gap. This is a three to four hour hike depending on your speed. Talk to a park ranger to find out the trail to the top of the mountain face and get a map. Challenging

Skirmish/Paintball fields are located three miles from the house. 1-800-SKIRMISH or 1-570-325-8430

State Game Lands:

The State Game Lands are located minutes from the house. ATV riding is permitted when it is not hunting season. There are other companies that rent ATVs and give tours near by.

Pocono Raceway:

The Pocono raceway is about 6 miles from the house.

Golf Courses: Both Split Rock golf course and Jack Frost National Gold Club are located within 10 to 15 minutes of the house.

Whitewater Rafting:

There is rafting trips for both the family and adventurous. They are offered by Poconos Whitewater in Jim Thorpe.

Biking:

There are rail to trail along the Lehigh Gorge. Poconos biking offers tours and rentals.

Warm weather activies at ski resort:

At Camelback there is a water park, zip lines, a mountain coaster, pipeline mountain slide, mountain segways, and rope courses.

At Blue Mountain there is zip lines, a mountain coaster, Blue Mountain Beach, bike tours, mountain to Segway tours, cascade putting course, and rope courses. Slopeside Pub and Grill is a great restaurant at the top of the mountain. Great views and often has music.

Such a fantastic stay at a "home away from home." Very clean with all the amenities in a cozy chalet close to JFBB and many great restaurants and bars. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and definitely plan on returning soon!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for me and my family. Was 5 of us and we had plenty of space . The house is well equipped, the hot tub was a real fun thing to do and with the blue moon and stars above us was something very special. The house is well located and if you need anything you will have in a short drive away . Bill and Dawn answered all our questions and believe me we had a lot of questions !!!! Without any hesitation we would come back .

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for a girls weekend! The decor was spot on for a mountain stay and it was extremely cozy. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the hot tub was nice to have since it was so chilly and rainy. There are some awesome wineries nearby and we were able to explore quite a few of them. Also, Bill and Dawn were available for any questions we had and responded almost immediately, which was wonderful. We will be back again!

Comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I booked this house for a few days and we enjoyed it. Check-in was a breeze, no trouble at all. Though it seems like the house is slightly outdated, we had no complaints. The only downside is not having a washer/dryer and not having a gazebo over the hot tub. But overall we really enjoyed our weekend here! We loved the decor, made us feel right at home. The beds were comfortable. The house was clean when we arrived (BIG PLUS for us) Bill was always quick with the replies and was there if we needed help (we couldn’t figure out how to lock the front door, it was giving us some trouble) but again, we were fine with it. He recommended places to eat and trails to hike! Kitchen was stocked with utensils, pots, pans & spice rack. LOTS and LOTS of games/puzzles to choose from, endless game nights during our stay. Cozy living room, the wood stove was the cherry on top to keeping it cozy. My dogs even had fun, there was enough space for them to run around even with the 6 of us all in the living room. We walked behind the house down to a creek, it was a nice little scenary. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to check out what the community had to offer cause we already had the agenda planned during our stay. We would definitely come back and I recommend this house if you’re looking for a comfortable place to stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Jennifer, for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. We are glad that you, your friends, and dogs enjoyed our home away from home. We only recently started renting it since it has been difficult to find the time to enjoy it ourselves. You brought up a couple of projects we are already have on our "to do list". First, we are planning to update the house by replacing the living room's carpet when we get the time (hopefully this spring). Also, we are planning to move the washer and dryer to an area that renters can use but the house wasn't designed with an owner's closet in the basement and both appliances have to be moved to a different location (another spring project). The idea of the gazebo over the hot tub is nice but we like to look at the stars when relaxing in the hot tub. Finally, we do have the directions about how to lock the Anderson door hanging on the fridge but we will hang the directions next to the lock which would be a more convenient location. Please come back anytime....maybe enjoy the Poconos in a different season! Dawn and Bill
