|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Unique and beautifully crafted, this cozy cabin is truly a gem, complete with a real captains bed tucked into the alcove, your own galley to take care of the midnight munchies or the long drawn-out breakfast. Captains Quarters is a stand-alone cabin, 16 x 20 in size that has all the amenities of a much larger cabin, but scaled down for the intimacy of a private hideaway.
It was designed specifically for couples and you will be delighted from the moment you walk in the door. We recently added an electric fireplace to add even more romance to the ambiance!
Our guests often comment that the cabin is much larger than it appears on the photos, and it is absolutely perfect for couples or even couples plus one. Just a few steps outside the door, slip into the hot tub and soak your cares away. The hot tub is shared by one other couples cabin. Your cabin gets the even hours on the clock, and the other one gets the odd hours. Of course, if no one is in the other cabin, the hot tub is all yours!
In addition to a very comfortable queen size built-in bed, we just purchased a new sofa that converts into a bed for an extra adult or possibly two small children. We will still list this as a cabin for couples, but if you're not opposed to sleeping in the same room, you could bring up to 2 small children and fit comfortably.
The dining table seats 4, and the galley is set up complete with fridge, stove top, microwave, coffee pot and toaster, along with everything you need for cooking. In the cabinets, you will find coffee and creamers, hot chocolate, and popcorn. For the over 21 crowd, we like to provide a nice bottle of wine to welcome you to Moss Landing Cabins. Let us know if you would prefer red, white, or non-alcoholic sparkling cider!
Whether you are ready to sink into the hot tub just steps from your door, throw a steak on the outdoor barbeque, pull up your lawn chairs to the fire pit and roast some marshmallows, or perhaps challenge someone to a game of horse shoes, you can do it here at Moss Landing Cabins.
Just a 5 minute walk to the ocean, we are close enough to hear the waves rolling up onto the beach from the hot tub when the weather is right. Whether your stay is for two days or a whole week, Captains Quarters has everything you need for a fabulously memorable trip to the beach!
We welcome 1 larger adult dog or 2 small adult dogs (under 20#) with a $15 pet fee. We do not accept pets under one year old. Dogs must not be allowed to disturb other guests with a lot of barking. All dogs bark occasionally and we understand that, but if your dog is a constant barker this isn't the best place to bring it.
Be sure to call before you book to see what specials or discounts are available.
We are GLBT friendly.
If your crew is a little larger, you may be better suited to our larger cabin, Ships Quarters, which is also on VRBO. (Just look for property 307966). And if your days are already taken for Captains Quarters, we have another cabin the same size, so try Storm Haven at VRBO 591242. Whether you are traveling solo or need a place for up to 4 guests, we have you covered!
Hi, I am Sonja, and my husband, Tom, and I built Captains Quarters as the 3rd cabin at Moss Landing on a piece of property we bought in 2006 near the beach in Ocean Shores. Our first cabin, Ships Quarters, is also listed here on VRBO (Property 307966). The second cabin we built is Wind Dancer, and we live in that one.
Well, actually my husband did most of the building, but I got to furnish and decorate them! When I was 14, I found a picture of a little log cabin and taped it to the front of a notebook. I carried that picture with me for the next 20 years, always dreaming of the day I might be fortunate enough to have a cabin of my own. Then I married Tom. He and I have been building and remodeling things ever since we got married in 1998, but the possibility of building a log cabin was always there in the back of our minds. When we bought the property in Ocean Shores, we had an idea that we could build some type of vacation homes so people could enjoy the beauty of Ocean Shores, but nothing we could find really felt like the right thing. One day, we were talking about the property and what we might do, we realized that we could finally make our dream of log cabins come true. We HAD the technology! (Actually, Tom had the skills and I had the 'want to'!)
We are so fortunate to have had so many people stay at Ship's Quarters and Wind Dancer, and now we are able to offer our latest cabin that is geared for more intimate getaways, Captain's Quarters. Our guest book for our other cabins are full of heart-warming stories, and we're looking forward to reading all the stories of the folks who stay in Captain's Quarters as well. Moss Landing Cabins have been built with loving care, and we love sharing them with people who are looking for an enchanting, relaxing, and original getaway. Bon Voyage!
Sonja Moss purchased this cabin in 2006
We never thought a place like Ocean Shores could exist. A friend told us about it and said she had bought a lot to build her own vacation home there. She said that there were still a few lots available for sale, so we took off for places unknown.....and we were delighted. We bought our lot the same day we arrived. We knew that it was a place we wanted to keep coming back to. Ocean Shores is a quaint little community with SO MUCH to do. People from all over Washington (and further) come to do clam digging, beach combing, storm watching, and kite sailing. The convention center sponsors many festivals each year, including the Beach Combers Festival and Razor Clam Festival in March, the Sand and Sawdust Festive and MANY others. For a small town, Ocean Shores has it going on! There are so many wonderful things to do. You can even go horseback riding on the beach.
We have found the people to be very open and friendly. Although we didn't live in Ocean Shores for the first few years we had the property, we've actually moved into one of the cabins and we make Ocean Shores our home now. So now our dream vacation is our life! We have made such good friends here, and living in a small beach town is EXACTLY where we want to be. Ocean Shores a unique place and a wonderful nature spot. You just have to be willing to share the roadway with the local deer population. Not a problem!
Moss Landing is a place to wind down and relax. Enjoy the silence of being at the end of the peninsula near the wildlife refuge. Feel the ocean breezes as you relax in the hot tub. The solitude is peaceful and renews the soul. Nature is close and palpable. Storms occasionally come screaming in, but you are always safe, warm, and dry in our rustic, cozy, elegant cabins. There is as much or as little solitude as you want. You can enjoy the hot tub, barbeque your favorite foods, walk down to the beach, take some beach photos, kick back and watch a movie, cook a gourmet meal. If ever a cabin could be a destination resort, this is it. This place was created for YOU. And we are really looking forward to meeting you!
This was my 2nd year coming to this lovely, sweet, cozy cabin! I like to book for a simple getaway from the Seattle area and really love how relaxed and refreshed I feel after my weekend stay - and so do my fur babies! I just might have to continue this annual tradition! Highly recommend!
Just finished three relaxing days in the Captain's Quarters. It was just what we were looking for: cozy with a rustic feel, you have your own private space. The cabin has high ceilings and great ambience. All the lights dim low. It was very clean and felt well taken care of with modern amenities. The kitchen is small and simple but plenty to work with. We cooked all of our breakfasts and dinners there! You can easily walk to one beach (facing the bay) and a short drive will get you to the ocean-facing beach. We took advantage of the hot tub and also some of Sonja's recommendations on places to eat in town. All in all it was a great getaway! Would definitely return.
We had a great time here at miss landing. Captains quarters was absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful anniversary here. Thank you Sonja and Tom.
We loved our little cabin at Moss Landing! It was so comfortable and clean and cozy. Built-in queen-size captain's bed was wonderful. We made most of our meals in the little kitchenette, and I use the term "we" loosely since I'm referring to myself and two little self-centered dogs. Brought home crab-stuffed shrimp from Mike's Seafood one afternoon that I had with a cold Stella Artois from the fridge, then napped before going out to play on the beach. Soaked in the hot tub right outside our cabin two nights and it was glorious! Yes, truly a fun and relaxing stay at Moss Landing!
I was very sick during the first two days of our stay and the weather was horribly raining so we weren't able to enjoy the cabin as much as we should have. It is a great little place to relax and enjoy yourself. The cabin was well stocked, compact and exceptionally clean. The owners seemed to be extraordinarily nice people. We would like to come back when the weather is nicer so we can fully enjoy our stay.
Amazing property! Pictures are accurate, but don't truly do the cabin justice. Immaculately clean and stocked with all the amenities for a weekend get-a-way (movies, CDs, coffee, popcorn, chairs to take to the beach, etc) considering it was a studio, the space felt very large as well! we hope to come back in the summer!
Moss Landing Cabins is located at the southern end of Ocean Shores by the jetty. The beach is only about a 5-minute walk from our cabins and there are two beach accesses which make it easy to take a walk from one to the other and circle back to the cabins for a nice hike of approximately a mile.
Our cabins have several amenities to make your stay memorable in Ocean Shores. We have a nice fire pit, an outdoor barbeque, and have recently added a horse shoe pit. Each cabin has its own hot tub, and the entire yard is now under lawn, so the sand can just stay on the beach instead of in your cabin!
As your hosts, Tom and I live onsite and will meet you when you arrive, give you your keys, and show you around. We also welcome out guests to Moss Landing with a nice bottle of wine. You can choose between a nice red blend, a white reisling, or non-alcoholic sparkling cider.
