About Karen Mazzulla

We began coming to Captiva many years ago, and eventually bought the Captiva Villa in 1999. Our children grew up coming to the island as often as we possibly could! Eventually, we moved to the area permanently, and we still go out to the island as often as we can!

Karen Mazzulla purchased this house in 1999

Why Karen Mazzulla chose Florida

We hope you enjoy our little slice of paradise as much as we have over the years! Captiva is a magical place, and the Captiva Villa is the perfect place to explore the island!!!

Fantastic Week

  • 5 of 5

If you have an opportunity to rent this property - Do it! This house is amazing! It feels like living in a tree house with all of the foliage around the kitchen/living room. We had the entire house for 10 of us. 4 Adults, 6 teenagers. We each had our own space and never felt like we were on top of each other. The place if beautifully decorated. WE loved the short walk to the beach, and we were able to walk to shops and restaurants. It was gorgeous, spacious and very clean. We can't wait to go back again. It was a very relaxing vacation. Karen is wonderful to deal with. She communicates immediately and helps answer any questions you might have. Captiva is a beautiful island. We will go back again

Family paradise!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know what could have been better. There were 10 of us (4 children, 6 adults), and everyone had a wonderful time. The house itself is in immaculate shape, the rooms are well furnished, and the beds are quite comfortable. There is even a little sitting area up on top of the house for those adults who want to escape the hustle and bustle down below. The pool, enclosed and adjacent to the house, was the biggest hit, but the adults were happy with how roomy it was, the enclosed porch dining area- where you could shut off kids, and an extremely well stocked kitchen.

The location was perfect. 300 yards down the quiet lane to the beach, just around the corner to "downtown" Captiva, and a short walk to Starbucks. (As the internet was a pit temperamental for us, we spent a lot of time there). My only reluctance in recommending is that it may reduce our chances of getting reservations next year

Absolutely perfect place for first family getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to find a private rental in a calm setting for our first winter getaway with our relatively new baby and small dog. Captiva Villa on peaceful and secluded Captiva Island couldn't have been a more ideal setting for us. It is lovely, spacious, very well appointed, and very clean, while also having personality and charm in decor. The layout is perfect for either a small family, who can stay contained to the main living area/master suite, or for a larger party with multiple couples/families, who can spread across relatively well divided spaces. The location is truly ideal... a very brief walk to beach access at the end of the private lane, while also being a block away from a hub of Captiva restaurants and merchants. To quote my husband, "If you had told me when I was a kid that we'd get to rent a beach house right around the corner from the Mucky Duck, I'd have thought I'd died and gone to heave."

Karen was a fabulous owner. From start to finish, she was responsive and accommodating to all of our questions and needs. We certainly hope to be able to return one day, and know that our family can continue to grow into all of the space and activities that the Villa accommodates.

Tropical Getaway

  • 5 of 5

First visit to Captiva and this house was the perfect location set on very quiet street. Loved the tropical views out the front windows. Short walk to beach, market and quaint town with shops and restaurants. House is tastefully decorated, clean and spacious rooms. Karen is easy to work with, replies quickly to emails and answers all questions, even left lights on for us as we arrived after dark. Everything you need is provided from beach towels & chairs to anything you'll need in kitchen. Karen has added many personal touches to make you feel right at home. Had a great family vacation!!

Great location for a beautiful home with everything you need .....

  • 5 of 5

First of all, Karen is a gem. She was very responsive, helpful, patient, and overall wonderful. I think that her house is the only house on her street that is on VRBO, so if you find that it's available you need to scoop it up right away. The location is perfect. You can walk to the beach, walk to the Island Store, and walk to many restaurants. You really never need to get in your car for anything! The house is decorated gorgeously, she has great taste - or - she is actually an interior designer - I don't know, I didn't ask her but it's lovely. There are linens, plenty of bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, fully stocked kitchen, televisions in every room, and a wonderful screened in pool. What's not to love about the place? It's a tropical paradise on Laika Lane. Of course, we love Captiva and have stayed there many times, but this is our first VRBO as we usually stay at South Seas (which is just a short walk away). I have to say that I don't know that I would ever switch back now that we have had the chance to stay in Karen's place. I am certain you will love it as much as we did.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our parents had their 60th wedding anniversary December 3rd. We had the family altogether for the week. It was perfect for our group. The heated pool was used a lot. So convenient to walk everywhere. Lots of beach towels, chairs , umbrellas ... ect. Nobody felt cramped and the villa had a real home feel. We would stay here again no problem. The owner also responds quickly to any inquiry. Great to work with.
