Bought this home as a second home for rest and relaxation. Come enjoy a vacation in my home when I am not using it. We tried to put everything that we always wanted in a vacation home.
Renee stitt purchased this house in 2012
We liked this house because along with the 5br, we could use the den as extra bedroom since it has a door to close for privacy. This is a lake you can swim in right from the dock.
I'm about to book our 4th stay here and I realized I never wrote a review for our lovely host, Renee. Book this place, don't hesitate. I've shopped around a lot and stayed in various properties in the Poconos. Now we just pick a date and return here.
The house is huge, the property is nice, including the sandy waterfront and dock. The kitchen is well stocked with measuring cups, cutting boards, pots & pans and it's a little snug but otherwise great for cooking for 10 guests with the double oven.
Renee is constantly updating the house and amenities - last year it was a new Weber grill and a refelted pool table.
The house is always clean when we arrive. Jeez - even the neighbors on either side are nice.
Can't wait to head back in the spring!
We had a great time at the lake house. The views and atmosphere in general were breathtaking. The house was so roomy, we had 15 adults in our group and there was more than enough space for us. The house is beautiful, clean, comfortable and stocked with all the supplies you could need to enjoy a getaway. All we had to bring was our clothes and food. Any supply you would need to cook was stocked in the kitchen. There were clean towels and sheets in every bedroom and having 4 bathrooms was a big plus since we had a large group. I would not only recommend staying here but we are sure we will be staying there again as well.
My whole family stayed at Renee's house, 9 adults and 5 children. There was plenty of room for everyone and we had space to spread out. The two girls, young ladies loved the sunroom and claimed that as their room right away. The lakefront and the amenties were great. The guys fished and taught the kids how to cast. The row boat and kayaks were a big hit and floating in the tube was very restful. The guys loved grilling on the large grill and we enjoyed dinner at the picnic tables. There was plenty of room for us to enjoy our meals together which was the biggest plus for me as grandmom.
I booked this home for a last minute family getaway. We traveled with 6 adults & 4 kids (7, 6, 1 1/2 & 1). The owner provided clear & concise directions to the property (in a gated community), as well as information about things to do nearby. Upon arriving at the house, we found the house clean & heat on. Everything was as it was explained to us in the HomeAway listing.
Stocked fairly well
Plenty of bedrooms/baths for everyone
An easy drive to Camelback
Although we did not utilize it, the beauty of being on the lake added to our vacation experience.
Prompt and attentive homeowner
The home has 3 levels w/ railings around all the open areas (a lot of railings). The balusters were spaced wide enough that our 1 & 1 1/2 year old could easily fit through & fall. I knew the home had steps when I booked it, so we brought baby gates with us. I also knew to expect railings based on the photos. But, we spent the first day and a half as nervous wrecks, afraid to look away from either child for a moment, lest they try to go through the railings and fall. We wound up buying commercial plastic wrap and covering all of the openings several times to assure the kids were safe.
It was impossible to fill the jacuzzi tub, let alone get the water level above the jets, without filling it with cold water. We were able to get about 2" of water into it before the water turned cold. We were excited to let the little ones play in there for bath time so that was a little disappointing.
Finally, the 1st floor master bathroom seemed to have a clogged vent which made it impossible for us to use that bed and bathroom. We had to keep the bedroom door closed & a towel at the bottom to keep the smell contained.
The owner addressed all of these concerns promptly in our post-stay correspondences. She assured me that plastic guards will be installed along the balusters to prevent small bodies from squeezing through (she said it's not something they've considered as they do not have small children) & that her plumber is addressing the vent & the jacuzzi.
Overall, we had a nice time. As long as those few issues were addressed, we would happily return. Thank you to the owner for helping me plan our stay & for keeping in touch with me after we left.
I also suggest bringing extra towels (bath, hand and wash rags) & special cooking items you may need. The home has basic cooking stuff, but not enough to cook a large dinner efficiently.
We used Renee's house for a family get together weekend. With 8 adults, 1 preschooler and 2 infants, everyone had enough space to spread out and not feel cramped. Pictures were accurate in depicting the house and all beds were comfortable. As someone who has rented homes in the past, I can say that this kitchen was the best equipped one we have seen. There were plenty of dishes, utensils, pots, etc for our group and the large dining table allowed us all to sit down together and share meals.
My only negative comment is that in trying the jacuzzi, there was not enough hot water to fill the tub but this may have been due to the number of showers that had been taken previously.
Renee was helpful in answering all of our questions beforehand and provided excellent directions as well as info for the checking in process that allowed for a smooth arrival.
We stayed with 5 families (4 kids ranging from 6 mths to 6 yrs old) for a ski trip this New Year's Eve. Sadly, there was no snow for the ski trip, but that is not reflective of the house or owners.
The first thing to know is this is in a gated community. The security is top notch with police roaming the neighborhood. That said, gated community does not translate to fancy. Many of the homes we saw in the community were boarded up, abandoned, and in very poor shape. The homes on our street of this rental were much nicer, but a large majority of the homes were in poor shape. Upon reading up on the area, it has a very poor reputation and crime has been prevalent there. This was something I was not aware before renting, and honestly, had me a bit concerned. That said, we did not have any issues with safety nor saw any concerning events.
The home itself was perfect for the 5 families. Everyone had their own room, and enough space to spread out. There was an extra living space and a game/billiards room which was great. Located on the lake, it was very pretty, the yard was spacious for the guys to toss the football around. Kitchen had plenty of materials to cook and store everything. The only other concern was with small children. The home is a split level with a lot of stairs and the spacing between posts were quite wide, wide enough for my 2 yr old to put her head and body through. I would be cautious with small children.
Location was great, on the lake. Every morning was very pretty watching the sun rise over the lake. We were also able to get stores very quickly, within 15 minutes. There are other activities all within 20 minutes (skiing, outlet shopping, waterparks, etc).
Overall, we had a pleasant stay. There were minor issues with tidiness and overall neighborhood, but for the value and amenities, the house met what we were looking for. I would recommend this home to others.
Near mt airy lodge and casino, tanners ville outlets, ski camel back, horseback riding, close to Kalahari indoor water park just 15 minute drive to groceries, fast food, this is a gated community with amenities pool, tennis, basketball, paddle boats
