This was our family home with lots of great memories. I reside in the house part of the year. I stay in the small cabin on property during rental season, over 100ft away making it convenient for guest to reach me with any concerns, yet respecting guests privacy as much as possible.
Karin Petersen purchased this house in 1977
Quiet area of the lake and it is conveniently located close to Interlochen and Traverse City. Home is well appointed. Neighbors are very nice.
We don't hire property managers and live elsewhere. We are owners who have lived here many years and take pride in the property. We know details about the house and the the area. Over the years there have been many guests here and we love sharing the experience of Long Lake and this area with others. With this in mind, the decision to offer it as a vacation rental is the perfect solution to afford keeping it in our family for generations and share it with new friends. We want to provide a vacation experience to our guests as though they are guests of our own.
Before booking, I narrowed my options to three. I chose the Long Lake house for the outdoor space and what a smart decision. We spent the majority of our time on the water or the outside/deck area. The view was awesome; the water crystal clear; and the outdoor space provided great ambiance. Karin and Michael were very responsive from our initial booking through our departure. A very sweet couple and very accommodating. While the inside of the house is older, it was very clean and provided what one would need while on vacation. I would certainly recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing, get away from it all vacation. Location was convenient to downtown Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes and the quaint towns like Glen Arbor, Leland, Sutton's Bay as well as wineries.
in this very comfortable traditional lake home. If you want new and shiny, go to a hotel. This really felt like home. Host was very hospitable and welcoming. We spent very little time indoors as the weather was perfect and the decks overlooking the lake were mesmerizing. It was the perfect gathering place for family camping at Interlochen and some staying in a Traverse City hotel. A week just wasn't long enough.
Two adults and our labrador made Karin's our headquarters as we explored Traverse City for the first time. We found it very centrally located for our trips around the area -- up the western and eastern sides of the bay, a visit to Interlochen, and of course, Traverse City itself. The cottage is well pictured and accuarately described. We spent many hours on the one of the two decks, having our meals or just sitting and watching the lake. We ususally had lunch out and our dinner on the deck. Karin was most accomodating and as a native is very knowledgable about the area.
The property was very clean and well kept. The house is very beautiful and very clean and the views are amazing! The owners (Karin and Mike) are very friendly and they go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. The amenities that they supplied were more than we expected! Turtle Creek Casino was a very nice experience! The double decks and hot tub overlooking the lake, helped make our vacation a very relaxing and enjoyable stay! We would definitely recommend! We will be back!!
My family and our dog had a wonderful vacation at this lovely house. We especially loved the multi level deck. We spent most evenings on the deck watching the sunset. The house was just as pictured and had all that we required. We took advantage of the row boat as well as the paddle boat which were provided.
30 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore, Empire, Glen Arbor and 10 minutes to downtown Traverse City. Close wine trails
