My husband and I spent two days here celebrating our wedding anniversary. We loved it!! The fall colors were great, the weather was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time in front of the fireplace as well as playing pool. This place was clean, beautiful, and just what we needed for our time away. I think we got an amazing deal as I see the price is much higher than we paid a year ago. We are thankful we had the opportunity to stay in such a nice place. Oh, and also.....there was a lovely welcome basket waiting for us for our anniversary - how very thoughtful!
A lovely spot overlooking Loon Lake, very accessible to Vergas, great galleries & shops. The steps are a significant challenge, and there are a lot of them, they are steep, & you can't get anywhere without navigating them, & they are wicked! Carrying luggage, food, etc with or without bad joints is not fun. The bunk beds are really only suitable for children & the room they are in is very small with no closet, not really a bedroom. The dining room table is large enough for 8, but only has 6 chairs that work. There is a bar nearby that can accommodate more. 2 of the 3 bedrooms are very sunny, so a sleep mask is a must. The loft bedroom is open to the living spaces, the earliest risers & latest to bed need that bedroom!! This is a rustic, but generally well appointed, property with lots of charm.
Hello Bonnie- Thank you for choosing the loon lake chalet property for your vacation. Per your comments I just indicated that the room with the bunk beds is suitable for sleeping but has no closet or additional room. I also have additional chairs for the table but it seems to be a bit full with all the chairs, so I decided to give it more of a cozy feel around the dining room table. There is also seating for 4 guests at the bar next to the dining room table. Apologies for all the steps on the property and that you found them tough to navigate. I hope you were able to use the sleep masks in the dressers next to the beds. Thank you for the comments and we hope your journeys will find you in the vergas area again some day. Josh
Wonderful Family Vacation
We had such a fun time at this "cabin". It was very clean and perfect for a family. Our boys LOVED the kayaking around the lake and also the pool table was a big hit. The only concern I would have is for older adults. If you have a hard time "doing" stairs, there are a lot of steps. But for anyone that wants to get away and enjoy the beautiful lake, this is the place for you! Thanks so much Josh for letting us stay here.....we have wonderful memories.
Scott- Thank you for staying at the cabin and making the trek up from Nebraska. Im glad to hear the children had a great time and the weather cooperated for the majority of the vacation. I appreciate your concern with all the steps as we may install an elevator to the lake in the near future. Hope to see you next spring. Josh
Beautiful cabin on Loon Lake
The cabin has beautiful wood interior, and is very tastefully decorated. The welcome basket was a nice surprise.
The master bed is very comfortable. It is in an open loft space and the sun comes pouring in with sun rise, consider bringing a sleep mask if you are awakened by light.
The circular stairs to the loft, and leading out back are a bit narrow. The stairs leading out back would be difficult for toddlers.
Would be a great cabin for entertaining with a wooden bar and expandable dining room table. There is a gas grill and a charcoal grill (but no BBQ tools). The stereo system has great sound and is available outside on the patio too.
The hammock by the water was a lovely resting spot, but had a strands broken when we arrived and with further use it tore further making it difficult to use by half way through the week.
Highly recommend a kayak around the lake, you can get up close to the loons if you are quiet.
Thank You for the review and im glad the vacation worked out for your family. Also thanks for bringing the hammock and grilling tools to my attention. Hammock has been ordered and there will be a new grill set at the chalet by the weekend. Hope to see you next year.
Enjoyed the Property - would recommend if you enjoy the lakes of Minnesota - it's a great place to stay
