Posted price is for a studio unit. We also have larger one bedroom units, one which has a private outdoor space. We also rent the entire complex for up to 12 people. Please inquire for pricing of other units or compound as a whole. All prices are plus cleaning fee and 11.5% city tax unless staying 28 days or more, then no tax added.

Our goal at that Cottonwood is to create a relaxed, comfortable, unhurried atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy the sun, and peaceful beauty of Palm Springs and the desert. We found a small, overlooked mid century apartment building and transformed it into a private, peaceful, stylish vacation rental property.

We are located at the north end of the El Mirador neighborhood in central Palm Springs, just a short walk or bike ride to the famed Movie Colony and Old Las Palmas neighborhoods; home to the Hollywood stars of yesteryear and today. Downtown is approximately 1.5 miles or a 15-minute walk.

We have 4 units total: 2 one bedrooms with 650 square feet, living room, dining room, bedroom with king bed, full bath and full kitchen (no dishwasher); 2 studios with 275 square feet, bedroom with queen bed, bathroom with shower stall and full kitchen (no living room or seating area in studio other than the kitchen dinette).

We pride ourselves on having a clean, modern, well thought out property. We have attempted to include amenities you might find at other more expensive locations, like free bikes for guest use, a heated pool, wi-fi throughout, wired Internet in all units and 42” flat screen smart televisions with satellite and Netflix in our larger units; 32” in the studios and in the bedrooms of the larger units. You’ll even find real artwork on the walls! All at an affordable price.

We have Culligan filtered water throughout at the tap. There are 2 free parking spaces for each unit, 8 total. Soaps, paper products and fully stocked kitchens with coffee makers, teakettles, microwave ovens, dishes and cookware as well as full size appliances are provided.

The air conditioning/heat and pool heater are turned on before you arrive so you can start the relation the moment you walk through the gate.

Additional kitchen items, like a blender and bean grinder, etc. are available for shared use in the storage shed. You’ll also find irons and ironing boards there.

All rooms open to the beautiful, heated kidney shaped swimming pool with spectacular mountain views. The large lot is desert landscaped and well lit at night. The entire property is privacy fenced with a locked gate in the front, creating a completely private oasis of Zen.

You won’t find a front desk at the Cottonwood. We are small, hands off sort of vacation experience. Management is close by and will quickly respond to any issue, we are just a text or a phone call away. We believe that you come to Palm Springs to relax, not be watched over by staff. We do visit almost daily to spruce up the pool and the exterior and to make sure that everything is great for your stay.

At this time the Cottonwood is an adult only, non-smoking, no pets allowed facility. Laundry facilities are available for all that stay longer than 4 days. When renting the entire complex, children are allowed by exception.

This property is so unique and classy. If you like mid-century design then you will love this private, well located and affordable oasis. We personally manage the property rather than having a management company. This allows us to provide a higher quality, more personable level of guest service.

The deluxe units are perfect for those in need of some space to spread out, especially for long stays. These units fit 2 people very comfortably and can accommodate 4 with the included inflatable mattresses.

The studio units are perfect for single travelers, couples that are comfortable in smaller spaces, and active travelers that don't intend to spend too much time inside the unit.

What makes this apartment unique

Walk from you unit and take 10 steps and enjoy a nice clean, heated pool and sculpture garden. Fully enclosed, private property. Beautiful mountain views from the pool. Fully remodeled. Gas grill for outdoor cooking, and 4 bikes (cruisers) are provided for our guests enjoyment.

Quiet Vacation Rental in Northern part of Palm Springs

This is a very nice 4 unit property in the northern part of Palm Springs. Very secure, very nice pool area. We stayed in Unit 1 which was the 1 Bedroom unit, had a very comfortable bedroom and living room. We loved the pool area...lots of areas to sun. Jeffrey could not have been nicer and was very responsive when we had a question during our stay. I highly recommend this place and would come back.

We stayed at Jefferys lovely complex for one week in February and it made our first trip to Palm Springs so enjoyable. The description was just as stated, if not better, and so clean, tidy and very well maintained. The property was in a good location and the bikes were so fun to use...very thoughtful! We had the pleasure of meeting Jeffery who was very friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. Definitely want to return for a second visit and will book here again! Thankyou so much Jeffery for providing such a nice relaxing place!

What a Gem

What a great place - perfect location, great value, very clean, quite and all the amenities you could ask for. The studio unit was tastefully decorated and nice desert landscaping around the pool. If I am back in Palm Springs I would definitely return to this place or recommend to my friends.

Great place!

We had a great stay at Cottonwood! The bed was comfy, the bedroom had plenty of storage and room to unpack, and the kitchen was full equipped with everything we needed. Jeffery was amazingly responsive - we had trouble with the key codes one time and he fixed it within 5 minutes after a quick text. The location is great for easy access to everywhere in Palm Springs. It's a bit of a walk to the central downtown area, but the weather was great when we were there, so the walk was nice. Wish we had more time to stay and relax around the pool area! Will definitely return - thank you!

Pretty good stay

Overall, a nice place to stay while visiting Palm Springs. Clean unit and grounds. Two things to mention:

1) the units have paper thin walls so privacy is limited if other rooms are occupied.

2) on our first morning, at 9:30am the manager, Jeffrey, entered our unit without knocking or announcing himself. He looks in at me sitting on the bed and says

"Who are you?"

"I'm Matt"

"I thought you were in the other room"

"Nope you told me this one, room 3"

"Oh. Well, is everything ok?"

"Um, yeah, I guess"- (except for you barging in, I'm thinking)

Lol, he entered our room unannounced, without knocking, and asked ME if everything was ok. Without giving an apology, he closed the door and left. Really his whole attitude was as if I just entered HIS bedroom without knocking. Just glad we weren't having marital relations!

One hopes that spending hundreds of dollars after seeing advertisments for privacy ("We believe that you come to Palm Springs to relax, not be watched over by staff") that Jeffrey would have at least apologized for the intrusion. No such luck, and that may be the lasting memory when booking lodging in Palm Springs again.

Owner's Response: Wow! I am going to have to let my 200+ 5 star reviews speak for themselves here. Though Matt is correct, I opened the door to his room expecting it to be empty so I was as startled to see him as he was to see me. I tried to figure out what was happening in that split second, and did after a moment. I had switched his unit at the last minute and he was in the correct unit. The mistake was mine, but it was an innocent mistake. I clearly remember saying that I was sorry as I exited the unit. He was incredibly bothered by it, which I can understand to a degree, but I really think he overreacted about the whole thing. It was an innocent mistake. As for the walls, they are a bit thin between the units and when the property is full, you can hear neighboring units. I have always found though that people understand what the property is, (a stylish, affordable, clean option in a very expensive resort town), and take steps to be kind and aware of one another. I have always strived to make all my guests feel welcome, and I make an effort to be honest and fair in dealing with my guests. If I am being honest, Matt was unrealistically perturbed by the incident and almost combative in his response to me coming in by accident. I figured the best thing to do was to say sorry and to exit. That's what I did. I stand by my level of professionalism and my attention to detail, honesty and fair dealing. I think it is obvious in hind sight that my property was probably not a good match for Matt and his guest. But once again, I have hundreds of glowing reviews and satisfied customers. Sometimes I make mistakes, and I have no problem owning them. It is true though, that you can't win them all.
