What a find!!! Location Loaction!!

  • 5 of 5

Pelican Cottage is a very sweet and cozy place to stay. Although the backyard was mostly sand it worked very well for our greyhounds. The location with the trail right outside the back gate was marvelous. We arrived February 1st and were immediately greeted by several neighbors welcoming us. It's a very friendly neighborhood. Having Hammock Park just a block away with many walking trails and the Pinellas Trail that goes 40 miles made it such a wonderful vacation. The bonus was Kathleen providing bikes for us to use. We were here 2 months and have rebooked. Looking forward to our return. Thank you Kathleen for such a lovely stay.

Really cute cottage

  • 5 of 5

Kathleen and Phil are super nice. The cottage has it all. Great location. Awesome neighbors.

Nice yards both front and back. Hardwood floors. Nice tile bath. I had a hard time when I had to leave as the neighbors had become MY dog was bummed out because the whole street had welcomed her with open arms. She is a very sociable and special hound dog.

Their are multiple dog friendly parks close by too. We will be back no doubt.

Poor housekeeping

  • 2 of 5

We arrived on Sunday & spent the next 2 days cleaning up cat hair. It was everywhere ! We cleaned each wk we spent there & continued to find cat hair. Don't look under the bed ! The cat must have lived there for a very long time with no clean up after leaving. Food was left in the disposal & dirty dishes in the dishwasher. We would have appreciated a quicker response to our phone calls. Katherine was very generous in loaning us her bicycles to use & we loved being so close to the walk/bike path.

Owner's Response: We take great pride in the care of our vacation rental and respond immediately to any concerns, however these guests would not tell me the problem over the phone and because of my work schedule, I couldn't get there until the next day. When I arrive they showed me the dirt that they had found. Although more than I'd like to see it wasn't that much. They had to have moved furniture to find it because I didn't see it when I inspected the house prior to their arrival. Also there is no way that it would take 2 days for 2 people to clean a 900 Sq. Ft. house no matter what. They didn't mention in their review that they booked late so their rent check was deposited after they arrived and it bounced, and that they wanted to negotiate a much discounted price when they replaced the bad check. Of course I gave them what I considered a generous discount, but clearly it wasn't enough. I would never rent to these people again at any rate.

Delightful Experience

  • 5 of 5

The Pelican Cottage is absolutely delightful. I spent all of April and May of 2014 renting this in beautiful Dunedin. I have been coming to Florida for the past 3 years and have rented from Phil and Kathleen for two of these years and cannot tell you how wonderful they are. Both of the rentals that I have occupied have been stellar in all the amenities that you could hope for. High end everything, linens, bedding, furniture and everything else.

Both have fenced in yards, good for pets and each is decorated to the nines. The Pelican Cottage is right on the Pelican Trail and has probably the best back yard of any home on the trail. Believe me I know as I traveled that trail daily with my dog.

Every visitor that I had was overwhelmed with the cottage and how cute it was. The location is perfect. Five minutes to Publix, ten to Honeymoon Island, 15 to Clearwater Beach.

I had tentatively rented it again for 3 months in 2015, but have purchased a small condo since. Although my condo is cute, I will miss the Pelican Cottage and its prime location and very friendly neighborhood.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Pelican cottage at the end of September. It was beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook a meal, even things like spices. It was very close to Honeymoon Island, downtown Dunedin, grocery stores and restaurants. I'll be back next summer.

Great cottage in wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this cottage exploring and enjoying the area. The house was indeed cozy and confortable. The Pinellas trail runs behind it. Couldn't be better. We recommend the house and the area. Truly good food in Dunedin and so dog friendly.
