Right in the middle of a vibrant multicultural community this place is perfect for an individual in need of space, groups and families. You have all the amenities of home and something really rare in NY: SPACE. We want you to feel welcome and at home in our crazy metropolis with a mix of old world flair (this building was build 1897) with new world amenities.
This apartment has parquet floors, high ceilings, central air and a washer/dryer in one. You can cook, enjoy cable TV, internet and dock in your iPod. The apartment is owned by artist Charlotta Janssen and the ground floor restaurant welcomes you with a North American Gastropub themed menu (open 7 days a week), where you can enjoy 'green devils' as well as a garbanzo or bison burger...
I'm a painter and restauranteur. I love decorating and creating environments and I love the influence that environments have on me. I am daily struck by my surroundings: there is never a boring day, between the constant insanities that take place running restaurants and the abrupt solitude I find in painting. I am a Berlin transplant and feel incredibly at home here and am happy to share that experience.
Charlotta Janssen purchased this apartment in 2005
I love old buildings. This sturdy brick structure is from about 1897. It has high ceilings, hardwood floors, French doors with original baths - truly an old world charm here meets modern day amenities: washer/dryer in one, large fridge, freezer, gas cooking stove, cable TV and wireless internet.
If you are in a NY state of mind and at times need a serious break in a safe spacious and warm environment from this crazy cramped city, this is the place for you. If you are drawn to the rich multicultural vibe that Manhattan once had but has long lost, you will find it here in Fort Greene. If you are a traveling group of 4 to 6 and want your privacy together as well as the urban experience, this place is for you.
This great find just one stop & a 10 minute walk out of Downtown Manhattan with the B & Q Dekalb Station, and 5 minutes to the local C train Clinton Washington Ave Station.
Venues within walking distance:
The Brooklyn Academy of Music showing contemporary art house films, theater and music
The recently opened Barclay's Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets
Fort Greene Park (farmers market open on Saturdays)
The Brooklyn Flea Saturdays
The Deklab Dining Mile
It is far easier (and cheaper) to get here from La Guardia or JFK than to get from these airports to Manhattan and car services are easily accessed on the street or by phone.
