About Connie and Andrew

Fun loving couple, semi retired from the entertainment business, now living in the jungles of east Hawaii. World travelers, we spend most our days organic farming and building our rammed earth house. We live up the road from the Rainforest Hideaway on a separate property. Our friendly and well behaved dogs, Jackson and Frankie, often join us to greet our guests upon arrival. Andrew, originally from Australia, designs and builds custom homes and is a FEO Officer and tanker driver for the local Volunteer Fire Department. Connie is a wardrobe stylist and yoga instructor at a local yoga center.

Connie and Andrew purchased this Cabin in 2008

Why Connie and Andrew chose Ainaloa

The Enchanting Rainforest Hideaway is a unique and very private property. Located in a rare old growth jungle/rainforest area of Puna with many native and exotic plants and trees, yet still just a mile from the highway, 200 ft. off a paved road. (unpaved road is maintained and fine for rental cars) The perfect location to get away from it all but still be close enough to all the sights, restaurants and activites. Many other places you share the house or property with others, but not here. This is 2 acres all to yourself, beautifully landscaped with many extra touches to make your stay more relaxing and enjoyable.

What makes this Cabin unique

Enchanting Rainforest Hideaway has been awarded 2014 Certificate of Excellence for consistently earning top ratings from our guests. Follow/ 'like' us on Facebook ~ Enchanting Rainforest Hideaway Hawaii Island, aka the Big Island, was ranked number 7 as the World's Best Island destinations in Travel and Leisure magazine, Winter 2012. Perfect secluded cottage with everything you need

                                                              christine P.

The Enchanting Forest Hideaway reminded us of “Froggy Cabin” (from the quirky TV series “The Guest Book”) and is a beautiful hideaway with total seclusion (something important to us) and the constant presence of nature in the form of birds and frogs singing pretty much all the time. Although the owner supplies earplugs for anyone bothered by the sound, neither of us found nature’s symphony to be disturbing and slept well once we realized that it gets chilly at night as a result of the screened in front room which does not have windows. However, a warm comforter is provided so that once we were aware of the situation, there was no problem.

The unit is well maintained and supplied and Connie was attentive and friendly, meeting us with starfruit from her orchard, but once she got us settled was never intrusive.

The roads are a bit bumpy, but that adds to the feeling of seclusion and being off the beaten track. A perfect place for a true get away from the hotel scene, with easy access to Hilo, the Lava Tree State Park (free!), zip lining and volcano experience.

                                                              Beautiful, peaceful property!

The property is very well maintained. Connie and Andrew have everything you could possibly need in the home. Just a spectacular vacation home!

                                                              Simply Enchanting

The Rainforest Hideaway is simply enchanting. There is a great big world to explore so we rarely return to a place we’ve visited. I’m not sure we can resist the pull to come back here... nor should we want to. The cottage is completely private and has pretty much anything you’d need. There are so many things to do in Pahoa and in the Puna district. We only spent 4 nights but wish it would have been for the full 7 that we visited the island. You can pack less too. Our luggage was lost on our flight there and we didn’t really need anything while awaiting it’s arrival.

Isolated and quiet seclusion with a great cabin feel without compromising luxury or comfort.

Very close to good food and ammenities without being busy. Very secluded and private. Connie and Andrew were excellent and welcoming but didn't intrude. Very helpful. Amazing luxury cabin and clean and tidy and organized. This was everything we wanted.

We spent a wonderful six nights at this truly relaxing, wonderful cottage! Connie and Andrew have provided us tourists to the Big Island with a gem! Everything we could ask for and even some extras! Fresh flowers, wine and chocolates to greet us on our arrival, made our 35th Anniversary truly memorable!! Great directions and tips on the sightseeing high lites of the area. This location was a perfect spot to come "home" to every evening after our day excursions! Close to the Volcano and all the sites this side of the island has! Great snorkelling spot at the hot ponds that Connie recommended. Having snorkel gear here was a plus! We enjoyed the outdoor shower and the place was well stocked with kitchen and bath supplies! Thank you Connie and Andrew for a truly magical, amazing stay!!

We are located close to Volcanoes National Park and Kalapana where the active lava flows down the volcano and meets the ocean. This is one of the world's most active volcanoes and viewing is quite easy and accessable. The park is other worldly and the flows are fantastic. You can view by helicopter, boat, car or my favorite, on foot. Local guides available and recommended. Not to be missed, a real bucket list experience.
