4 storey house, 4 bedrooms south facing balcony and private garden

Spring Bank Cottage, upgraded at the start of 2014, is wonderfully located in the heart of the pretty village of Hayfield. It has super walking and cycling from the doorstep and a choice of pubs, restaurants and shops within a five minute walk. There are lovely views from all floors and from the garden, over the village cricket ground and to the hills beyond. The ground floor consists of a hall, kitchen, living room, wc and cloakroom. The living room has an open fire and double doors open onto a large balcony. The lower ground floor has a garden room and utility with laundry and drying facilities. The garden has a lawn, terrace and barbecue facilities. On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms (a double, a twin and a single) and a family bathroom with walk in shower. On the top floor is the master suite with a king sized bed and luxury wetroom.

The house is centrally heated, double glazed and there is constant hot water. There is a 48" flat screen smart TV, DVD player, blue tooth speaker and superfast wifi.

Bed linen, towels, central heating and the use of the Wifi are included in the rental.

About Family Reeve

We've lived on and off in Hayfield since the 1980s, although now for some time living abroad we make frequent visits back. On arriving, we always feel instantly at home. There is something about the place. Our 3 children, now teenagers, spent their early years in Hayfield, and we all retain very strong ties.

Why Family Reeve chose High Peak District

We had been looking for a family home, and were lucky to find SBC which combined a great location with the possibility to create a home for a growing family. We did a lot of work from top to bottom before it was ready. Our aim was to maximise the space and views whilst retaining its character. We continue to love coming back to the house and have made ongoing improvements a priority. Most recently, we have refitted 2 bathrooms and added an en suite on the top floor.

What makes this house unique

You can't get more central than Spring Bank Cottage, literally a short step from the shops, the restaurants and the pubs This, combined with the exceptional views make it really one of very few large houses which offer both easy access and a spectacular setting.

With 3 new bathrooms and superfast wifi Spring Bank Cottage combines location, space and supreme comfort.

We had a lovely weekend with all the family. The weather was wet and windy for most of the time, but it cleared for part of Sunday so we managed a late morning walk (one of our favourites up to the reservoir, turn left and then back into Hayfield from the moor). The house was nice and warm so we turned the radiator settings down. The grandchildren loved the downstairs playroom.

A charming house with impressive views.

We loved the house from the moment we walked in. The view from the back - over the cricket pitch, past sloping back gardens and up to the hills and the sky beyond - is restful and restorative. The kitchen is well equipped (we did lots of cooking and even baked bread). Reliable wi-fi was a boon, though the real pleasure of staying in Hayfield is the chance to get out and tramp the hills for hours. (There's a helpful booklet in the Welcome folder detailing five local walks.)

Other assets of the house: three toilets and two showers; the large screen TV in the living room; a radio (nice to have in the kitchen when you're cooking on your own!); a good collection of books; and a very good washing machine. There is easy access - via a path higher up Kinder Road - to the cricket pitch and a children's playground beyond the pitch.

The two local shops supply most basic needs and there is an excellent butcher's shop with local produce. New Mills has a Coop and Glossop has both a Tesco and a Coop. The George and the Royal are justly popular pubs.

Chris, the owner, was prompt in responding to queries. We would happily recommend Spring Bank Cottage to anyone, especially families.

Wonderful weekend in a lovely family house

I booked this delightful house at short notice for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was a great choice of location for my children who were travelling from Manchester and Sheffield, and is perfect for walking inthe Peaks. Hayfield is a vibrant community and we were lucky to be there for the May Queen celebrations which included a fair and wonderful street parade. The house itself was perfect for us with lots of room to spread out and some outdoor space and balconies to make the most of the lovely weather.(Sadly no cricket match this weekend but the view over the pitch is lovely!) It is clean and very well-equipped, the beds and bedding were of excellent quality and the wi-fi much quicker than at home! Christine was very friendly and responded quickly and efficiently to our enquiry. We ate at the George and the Sportsman, which was good for Sunday lunch, and we were also impressed by Pulse, a vegetarian cafe in New Mills. We would certainly recommend Spring Bank Cottage to anyone looking for a family house in a lively village.

Fantastic house in great position

We had a such a great holiday. The house is fantastic and is bursting with character. It has everything you could need and lots more too. We were so comfortable there it was sad to leave at the end of our stay.

We enjoyed watching the cricket match from the luxury of the sunny south facing garden.

Hayfield itself is a bustling village with everything you need on your doorstep. Great pubs (lovely pie at the Pack Horse) and two tea shops. Everyone was so welcoming. There was a good choice of shops to get all your provisions and it is good that the facilities are used - and hence kept alive.

There are so many great walks starting from the village that we will have to come back to go on some more of them! As the house was so comfortable we stretched out for some chill time rather than trying to pack too much into our stay but did also manage to fit in visits to Buxton and Bakewell which aren't too far (the Old House Museum at Bakewell was really interesting and the caves at Buxton pretty, but cold).

This house is well looked after, right in the centre of the village, full of character and well equipped. I would highly recommend it.

Cottage which is also a Town House

This cottage is absolutely faultless...Its is immaculate,modern,fully equipped with everything you could need for a large group.the views directly onto the cricket pitch iare amazing, (they played 2 days when we were there) the villagers are SO friendly, and so much to see and do nearby as others have said ..The photos sometimes don't do justice..My family group of 5 adults and 3 young children found it perfect

The beds are super quality as are the bathrooms and extra downstairs toilet. The water and heating were easy to switch on and off. Christine also arranged for an extra Travel cot for us

There are plenty of games and books ..a small park nearby for little ones ...a very well equipped kitchen (dishwasher and lots of dishes and glasses/ mugs) and utility room downstairs ..Lots of storage in each room..You can tell it's been someone's home -it's well taken care of and superbly decorated

The shops and pubs are just down the street ...Rosie's in particular you must visit for cakes

We went to Chatsworth...30 minutes away...And had a treck up the Kinder Resevoir...Beautiful scenery and again lots of friendly. Walkers...and runners

It was easy to deal with Christine and I had no worries about the booking and money side of things

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this wonderful holiday property to any group..We all agreed we will happily visit Hayfield and "Our Cottage "again

Fabulous house in an ideal holiday village

We've just returned from a lovely weekend at this house. The property is in an ideal location, quiet and yet making you feel that you are very much part of a thriving, friendly community. The beds are comfortable and the entire house is immaculately clean throughout. We only wish we'd come in the summer so we could have spent some time in what appears to be a perfect, south-facing garden overlooking the cricket pitch and beautiful hills beyond. We particularly liked The Royal and The Roundhouse. Thanks for a great stay.

Great property in a wonderful location

A great house with a lovely welcoming feel. It was well equipped throughout and had very comfortable furnishings. Lovely and clean too. We were lucky enough to watch two cricket matches during our stay and with the perfect position on the balcony we sat back and relaxed with a glass of wine - bliss. The local pub served great food and is only a few minutes walk down the road. It also allowed us to use their free wifi to keep in touch with family and friends as the house does not have internet. The village has great amenities but with a lovely rural feel to it. On our arrival we found that the oven was broken but this was not a problem. Five minutes after phoning Phil it was fixed - first class service thanks Phil ! We would definitely recommend this house to friends and family and would love to stay there again !

Hayfield is a thriving village and gateway to the High Peak. It is popular with walkers and cyclists since it is at the foot of Kinder Scout and at the end of the Sett Valley Trail. Within a few miles of interesting villages such as Castleton, Edale, Eyam and small towns such as Buxton and Ashborn. Other local attractions are Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park.
