Gorgeous Views of Rogue River from house, patio and lawn

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,700 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Fantastic Rogue River views from living room, kitchen and bedroom, with 200+ feet of river frontage. Views just get better as you go out onto patio and lawn, where the sound of the river is usually all you hear. Remodeled kitchen has all new appliances, sink and cabinets with granite countertops. Refinished hardwood floors in living room, dining room and bedrooms, and new vinyl tile floors in kitchen and bathrooms. All new beds and furniture, refurbished bathrooms, and lots of river-view seating from living room. New washer and dryer. New HVAC system that provides heat and air conditioning was installed in November 2017, along with five new windows. Because of all the new items and refinished hardwood floors, we don't allow pets, and don't allow smoking in the house.

Large lawn between house and river, with BBQ and picnic table for outdoor meals. Peaceful property sits on over 2 acres of land at end of private drive, yet minutes from Grants Pass, hospital, restaurants and supermarket. No houses on opposite side of river (although there is a road) and loudest sound is jetboats in summer. Satellite TV and very fast wireless internet provided.

Float lazily down the Rogue, hire a fishing guide, take a Jetboat tour or raft down Hellgate Canyon’s world-famous rapids. Or simply fish from the bank of the property (a fishing license is required), while watching geese, ducks and the occasional osprey or bald eagle. Visit Crater lake, the coastal redwoods or the Wildlife Safari (a 600-acre drive-through animal park) – each is about 90 minutes away on scenic drives. Go wine tasting in Applegate, Rogue Valley or Umpqua Valley to see why the Wine Enthusiast magazine calls Southern Oregon a “Top 10 Global Wine Destination.” Take in a play at Ashland’s world-famous Shakespeare festival. Go hiking in the nearby woods. Enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of Grants Pass or nearby towns. Or just enjoy the fireplace while you sit on the granite hearth and watch the river.

New on the vacation rental market in 2017, our rental is the main part of a house that we bought last year and are remodeling. There is a separate entrance for the other part of the house, which we or others stay in occasionally.

Please note that we have had many inquires about pets, despite stating that they are not allowed, and we are firm about not allowing pets.

About The Owner

We split our time between here and our house in California. We love the outdoors, especially rivers and fishing, and can't believe we don't have to hike to get to a river this beautiful with amazing fish. The picture above was taken last summer in the Sierra Nevada, before we bought the property. We haven't had time to fish since we bought the property; instead we spend our time here fixing it up! We hope to retire here someday, but in the meantime just visit whenever we can.

The Owner purchased this house in 2016

Why The Owner chose Grants Pass

We stopped by Grants Pass on a road trip 10 years ago and really enjoyed it. We've visited again a few times, usually staying in a studio hotel room that costs as much as our rental and is not nearly as nice. We haven't seen any property with views of the Rogue River equal to this, and so when it became available we jumped on it, although it was a fixer. Since then, we have been fixing it up in more ways than would fit in this description.

The most relaxing and revitalizing place in Grants Pass

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed to make us feel at home. We came to visit with our children, and the owners were very gracious. We had the use of the entire house, a beautiful kitchen, and the most beautiful views of the Rogue River. My husband went fishing on the river every morning, and a few of the kids went with him in the evenings. It was so convenient being on the river front for that. I got to enjoy some coffee and quiet writing time from the waters edge... truly a breathtaking experience. The house was very centrally located and we were able to check out the town and participate in a variety of activities nearby. This was our fist time staying in Grants Pass, and we loved the area... and it was great having a "home" to come home to each night.

The property is beautiful

  • 4 of 5

The only thing that I recommend is adding AC and access to the river. It's too steep and the neighbors were not very friendly with letting us walk across their lawns to gain access to the river.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kenny, we also think the property is beautiful. We also installed a staircase down to the river after you visited (you were our first renter) that provides access to a nice beach in front of our house (see updated pictures). We don't have a fence between our lawn and our neighbors' lawn that would mar the view, and now there is no need to go across their lawn to access the river. Our lawn is about 200 feet by 50 feet, 2/3 the length of a football field, so there is plenty of room. Unfortunately, your visit was at the tail end of a record breaking heat wave, with temperatures averaging 105 degrees, although the breeze from the river can bring down the temperature. As we head into fall the temperature should come down. We continue to improve the property and are looking into air conditioning but likely won't have it before next summer.
