"2016 BEST VRBO PROPERTY"
A VRBO member for only 4 years, this well appointed suite has 91 reviews, more than any other property over the same time period. Before you even go inside you realize this place is special. The custom deck offers an exquisite hot tub, in which you can star gaze through the sky portal in the deck above. Two tables for four present different perspectives of the forest below, and another on the upper deck gives you a heavenly view of the lake and the mountains beyond. All sorts of song birds are busy coming and going from the hanging bird feeder that seems to be floating in space. And everywhere you look is another potted or hanging plant. You will be impressed before you ever go inside.
Jack will walk you through the suite to explain the amenities and features, starting with a king bedroom with a comfy leather love seat, flat screen TV, and even a "white noise" fan for those who require it. The coffee corner is separate from either bedroom, and serves as a place to sit and talk while enjoying the art work. The adjoining hall displays four original drawings of St. Louis classics, and includes a 1904 photo of the original Farris wheel at the worlds fair.
The bathroom is efficient and exceptionally clean, with soft bath towels. But you don't have to use your bath towel for the hot tub, a nice big beach towel is provided. Of course extra toilet paper, bar soap, hair drier and even an iron come with the bath.
The kitchenette is just that, providing conveniences such as a choice of paper bowls and plates or glass bowls and plates. Plastic knives and forks or stainless, your choice. Great coffee cups, the kind that hold enough coffee so you can sit outside on the deck and wake up slowly. The microwave sits atop the small refrigerator that has three ice trays, and next to it is a tidy bar sink. Then there is a toaster, some complementary coffee (not packets), and the coffee maker (filters included). Eureka Springs which is only 15 minutes away, has some 50 restaurants that Jack can recommend. The suites kitchenette is designed to warm up the goodies you bring back, not for full blown cooking in the suite. However there is a charcoal grill on the deck where you can grille a steak or maybe some burgers.
The queen bedroom has a glass table with two chairs, an arm chair and of course the flat screen TV and "white noise" fan. Everything about this suite is class, from the antique brass lamp to the marble night table. I got the feeling of elegance when I went through for the first time and I think you will too. Special little things like literature on Eureka Springs and Beaver Lake, the most comfortable bed I've slept in, and the quiet, private, relaxing setting make this property #1.
This property is popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, families, and for a girls weekend get-a-way. If relaxing, quiet comfort is what you are looking for, this is the place.
Reservations should be made well in advance to guarantee the dates you desire.
FOR A SPECIAL TREAT. Jack does a private tour that lasts about an hour and a half, during which you will hear and see things that you otherwise would never see or hear. It's really special because you get to go down inside one of the original healing springs, go to the top of the Crescent (the most haunted hotel in America), and go across the only wooden suspension bridge in the State of Arkansas. The $50 fee covers everyone in the suite.
Over the last three years it has become evident that less than 50% of my guests are willing to abide by the Hot tub house rules, resulting in soiled water, a nasty ring around the hot tub, and a clogged filter. Therefore the spa must be emptied, cleaned, Refilled, new chemicals added, and water temperature brought back up. Therefore a $50 fully refundable damage deposit must be collected from every party electing to use the hot tub. It's as simple as showering before getting in the hot tub.
I stumbled onto Eureka Springs in 1971, and just as you probably will, I fell in Love. My former wife and I started out with a juice bar, then a restaurant, then a shop. I currently sell real estate, design and build custom homes, have a custom deck company, and market a couple of self invented products. But all that is just a sideline. Eureka Springs is not about money, it's about lifestyle. What I really do, is enjoy life. My social life and businesses, my church, these magical Ozark hills, hiking and exploring, boating, fishing, and swimming off my dock. I love meeting people, and look forward to meeting you. However I will not intrude upon your privacy, you can have my company at your will.
Jack Cross purchased this house in 2005
I live in paradise. I lived in town for 14 years and enjoyed it, but living on the lake is unbeatable. Fortunately it's only a few minutes from town and all on paved roads. There is something about living with the woods all around you and a huge body of water in site. The quiet, the peacefulness, and the feeling of being in control of your life is exemplary. You are invited to see what I mean.
I chose my house because it is on the end of a ridge road with a great view of the lake. I spend a great deal of time on the decks I added, and even grow vegetables on them in the summer. My nearest neighbors homes are both vacation homes, so I rarely see them. But when I do, they are always so happy to be back to paradise.
My boyfriend and I went here for our 2nd anniversary. It was perfect. The home is beautifully decorated with art from local artist from Eureka Springs and other pieces from the owners worldly travels. It was immaculate and the view from the deck with the hot tub was breathtaking. The stars at night and Beaver Lake in the sunrise and sunset from the bistro chairs and tables on the beautiful large deck was always a welcome calming sight. We had a sliding glass door to our portion of the deck which allowed for opening the windows and drinking coffee in bed and watching the boats on the lake. So serene. We went to town and got steaks for 3 nights because it has a grill, which was wonderful. It has a kitchen with a microwave so we just threw in some steamable veggies and had a fab dinner on the deck under the stars. I can't say enough of how this was a home away from home and even better place to stay. The owner Jack is awesome and he took us on a tour of the historic city which we would never have seen on our own. He has lived there many many years and knows the hot spots and history behind this fun amazing town. We definitely recommend getting Jack to take you on the "tour" for a nominal fee. It's something you will never forget. Since we had never been to Arkansas we asked him what to do and see and he was a so helpful with restaurants and must see things to do. I did notice there are literally hundreds of places to stay in the area, but none were as inviting or as beautiful as we were so lucky to have picked. I'm taking my 14 yr. old there this summer and can't wait to fish Beaver Lake and see our fun Host again. We highly recommend this getaway.
great view from the hot tub just outside the bedroom. Quiet and peaceful, just what we were after.
Have to say it wasn't exactly as advertised, we were looking for a bit more privacy. Although, Jack was informative that there would be workers on site and he was in and out throughout the days, he was a great host and if your looking for his recommendations on places to see, do, eat and you like interacting with the host then this is a great spot. We loved the view and the hot tub was really nice. The location is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Eureka Springs and is a beautiful drive. We'd recommend it for sure but will look for other more private places next time, since there are many in the area that we have stayed at.
We received notification the day were leaving that the plumbing upstairs broke and workers would be onsite, Jack offered to refund our money, we looked for alternatives but everything was booked. We decided to go for it and were pleased with the property just not the quiet, privateness we wanted, instead we headed in town each day to venture away from the noise so it wasn't as relaxing as we had wanted.
Property was as described. Very quiet and peaceful. Eureka Springs is a cool town.
Jack was a great host with tons of information on the area. He was friendly and full of stories. He gave the best recommendations for dining. We loved our stay and plan to return in the spring! Thanks, Jack! And Jackson!
Eureka Springs is a magical hidden jewel located in the Ozark mountains, the oldest mountain range in America. It is not unusual to see a bald eagle, or a wild turkey, a red fox, or deer prancing around everywhere. Your host (Jack) can direct you to some great hiking.
Our latest Eureka Springs feature is the new 'zip line' just opened March first. Turpentine Creek Animal Park features lions, tigers, and bears.....'Oh My!' There is Pivot Rock, Lake Lucerne (where Al Capone had a hideout), the steam engine train with dinner car, the Great Passion Play, Lake Leatherwood, and countless others. The only thing we don't have right now, is you. But you can change that. Your host, Jack Cross, has been in the area for more than 40 years, and is a wealth of helpful information. His guest suite is just around the corner from Starkey Marina where you can rent boats, buy pizza and beer, or BBQ at the free pavilion. Jack knows where to fish for bass, catfish, crappie, or trout, all right around the corner. If you desire a personal tour of the area and Eureka Springs, with historical information from a great story teller, at a nominal charge, just ask Jack.
