About Rob Florian
Our family purchased this property for our enjoyment and to supplement parent's retirement. We are from the Grand Rapids Area and have spent much of our lives vacationing on the sunset side of the mitten!
Rob Florian purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Rob Florian chose Thompsonville
It is truly a four season property in a rustic setting. Skiing and snowmobiling in winter, fishing and mushroom picking in spring. canoeing, tubing, afternoons at the beach in summer, color tours, hunting and fishing in the fall. And many year-round festivals nearby to make some new friends or meet some old ones!
What makes this Cabin unique
The Betsie River is just steps away in the back yard!

Very cozy cabin with all the needed amenities. Very quiet, with the beautiful Betsie River in your backyard. Only 5 minutes from Crystal Mountain skiing, which we took full advantage of. Cabin was perfect for our family weekend getaway.
Thanks for the kind review, glad your family enjoyed their stay. Please come back anytime!
We loved our time at the Woolly Bugger cabin and recommend it for anyone looking for a home base in the area. We made full use of the kayaks and other outdoor toys they provide. The owners were very great and prompt in helping with the couple of issues we had come up. The only downside for us were the extremely high temperatures we had for the first several days of our trip making it quite uncomfortable as the cabin doesn’t have ac. But they do provide several fans. If you love northern Michigan as much as we do, this is a good place to get you to everywhere you need to be!
Cozy and sweet
Quiet, warm, and cozy! Very responsive host.
My husband and I came here for a quiet weekend away.....this cabin was absolutely perfect for that! Very peaceful rustic setting in the woods, we went down by the river daily. Very beautiful down there! The cabin had everything we needed and more! Very clean. Bed was super comfy. We used the fireplace every night, super cozy! We did a day trip over to M22 and went up the Lake Michigan coast, this cabin was the perfect central location...we started in Arcadia and ended in Glan Arbor! Highly recommended! We will be back!
Woolly Bugger was all we expected, and more. Located on the Betsie River it gave us a central location to enjoy the area’s unique Golfing and fishing opportunities as well as a fire pit to relax and retell stories at the end of the day...
Great place to get away and relax
This is an awesome cabin! The way it's decorated is so tasteful and just all the added amenities make it so perfect. It is incredibly quiet and the river is so nice to walk down to and fish off the dock. We saw quite a few nice size trout but didn't really have the right type of bait to reel one in. We loved the firepit and sitting around at night with just the peaceful sound of the river. The shower was wonderful as was the comfort of the bedding and the furniture. Kind of embarrassed to say but we could not figure out how to get the gas oven to work - but the kitchen had everything you need including a slow cooker if folks want to make something up with that but in August we usually don't use one. There was a little coffee server station if you're a coffee drinker-we aren't but I noticed it even had a grinder for fresh ground coffee. It's a lovely cabin. The shed had life jackets a fishing net, ore's for the kayak's, etc. Spend some downtime at this place if you want to get away from things-you won't regret it. :)
Crystal Mountain Resort is approximately 1 mile away. Day passes are available for purchase to use their outdoor pool, waterpark, alpine slide and climbing wall. Championship golf, tennis and spa are also available through the resort.
