Why Ron and Wanda Walborn chose Barryville

This cabin has been our family getaway for the past 13 years. It has been the site of many happy memories. Now that our kids are grown and launched we decided to share this peaceful spot with others.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin is one of the most relaxing places on earth for me. This is where I come to unwind and find peace. There is much recreational activity available in this area, but my favorite times are spent reading on the back deck overlooking nature.

Great cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We spent one winter night in February in the cabin. It's a beautiful location and a cozy cabin. The owner was friendly and highly responsive. The detailed instructions on opening up and closing up the cabin were helpful and appreciated.

Cozy Cabin Get Away Along a Stream-Love it! We Really Enjoyed Our Stay :) Thank you!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin. There are 5 of us and there was plenty of room. The living room is warm and inviting. It has a huge stone fireplace that we used almost the whole time. One of the main things we were looking for in our winter getaway. There are two couches, and two chairs in the living room, so plenty of room to sit around the coffee table. The kids loved the bunk beds that are built into the walls. The top two are very high, so only would recommend for older people, but there is one rail under the futon to use. They also enjoyed sleeping on the futon another night. It was very comfortable. Our bedroom was very cozy. We had a comfortable queen size bed and absolutely love the windows that span two of the walls. You feel like you are outside. The cabin is close to the road, but there is a tall wall that divides it from the road, so we didn't really notice that we were so close. Very quiet area. Didn't notice any of the neighbors around. It was cold and rainy outside, so most of the time we hid inside, but we did throw on some snow clothes and head out to check out the property and the stream. Very pretty and peaceful. Would really enjoy during the warmer weather. Some things we noticed that could use improvement, but didn't really detract too much from our trip: the refrigerator was so full of condiments left from other guests that I had trouble fitting all of my cooler full of food in it that I brought and some of it was kind of dirty and I like my frig clean when other people have used it, the deck stairs were not very sturdy, the grill seemed to be missing the grill part to cook the meat on, table chair was popping apart, the living room table is falling apart. Something that did affect us was taking showers and having warm water to wash hands in and dishes was the inducer motor was broken on the hot water heater, so we didn't have hot water the entire time. The service man didn't work on weekends. Out in the middle of nowhere. And Ron was very sorry about it and tried to help figure out how to get it working. They gave us a $50 refund for this. We also noticed the light bulbs didn't work outside, so it was really dark outside at night. Instructions they sent to us to get in and close up were clear. The electricity was off when we got there, so it was very dark trying to get down in basement to turn everything on. We had to make sure we turned heat on every 4 hours because therm drops to 45. Not great for the baby.

Very nice and very spacious

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was very lovely. The only issue I had was when we arrived the entire front yard was covered in ice. It was like an ice skating rink. It hadn't even snowed yet. I guess this was from the cold weather plus the higher elevation of the area. Yet once inside it was great. The bed was a little too firm for my liking yet this wasn't a problem. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything a person might need. We brought most of our own stuff yet we did use (and wash) the plates and flatware. The inside was a bit bigger than I was expecting. If anyone is wondering (as I was wondering this before we got there) the smart TV they mentioned was either 50" or 55" I forgot which one.

I must say for the price this is a luxury compared to some of the more expensive hotels I've stayed at.

If you're looking for a stay just stop here and book it. You've found it!!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks Spencer. Sorry about that icy front yard. I think it was the hard rains we had followed by a quick cold snap. Glad you had a good time. Come again soon. Ron and Wanda

Great weekend getaway

A great place to go if you're looking to unwind. The cabin was clean, secluded and overall a great visit. I enjoyed the fireplace, the cozy atmosphere and the stream in the back of the house. Would definitely visit again.

A Peaceful Retreat Amidst Nature...

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience staying in a log cabin and we were very lucky to have found it. From the moment we parked, we were instantly enamored by its simple charm. The cabin has all the comforts of home. Instructions were easy to follow to turn water and heat on. With freezing temperatures outside, we felt cozy and warm inside, especially with the fireplace going. Loved the bunk beds in the livingroom. The master bedroom queen bed was super comfortable. It was very special to wake up and be in the midst of the towering trees just outside. The smart tv and wifi all worked perfectly fine. Walking behind the cabin is a creek. There were a couple of inches of snow on the ground so it was quite interesting to see animal tracks but alas, we did not see any animals except for squirrels jumping in the branches. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook. It was nice to have breakfast and be able to see out the patio into the woods. The cabin serves as a home away from home. It was just that peaceful! If you needed to get in touch with the owners, they are very responsive.
