Charming studio cottage on Windsor Lake, North Adams, MA. Great spot from which to explore MASS MoCa (1.5 miles away), attend Solid Sound or Fresh Grass, Clark Art Museum, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Williamstown Theater Festival, Williams College, the Berkshires, and Southern Vermont. Hike, bike, swim or snooze in the hammock.
The Berkshires are especially beautiful in the summer. The days are warm, and the nights are cool. There are many, many cultural and outdoor activities. Windsor Lake is 1.5 miles from MASS MoCa. If it weren't for one steep hill, it'd be an easy walk to downtown.
No gas-powered motorboats are permitted on the lake. Expect to see kayakers paddling past, people fishing across the lake and hear voices from the public beach farther away and across the lake.
Harry Potter Fans: If you swim or paddle out to the center of the lake and look south, you will see Mt. Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts. According to J.K. Rowling, Mt. Greylock is the site of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The studio cottage is a great spot for 1-2 people who would enjoy staying in a charming, but quirky old cottage or "camp" as it's locally known. It's not a luxury experience. No granite counters, fancy bathroom or TV. But you're on the water and can swim, paddle, and gaze at the lake and mountains. A canoe, kayak, lakeside hammock are included. (Swimming and boating at your own risk.)
Perfect for Tiny House fans. The interior space measures +/- 400 sq. ft. and has three rooms: bathroom, kitchen, and living room/bedroom. Your bed is a daybed - an IKEA Hemnes daybed to be exact - which opens to a king-size bed. When closed, you can see the lake while lying in bed - a very nice view. The heat will not be turned in the summer. If it gets hot, there are fans. There is a small, but functional kitchen with a gas stove. The house has a large deck that overlooks the lake with an outside table, chairs, umbrella and two rocking chairs. The houseincludes a charcoal grill and wifi.
The cabin is not a good fit for someone with limited mobility as it has a narrow doorway, uneven surfaces, and stairs. This is a no-smoking house. Pets are not permitted. Please respect our neighbors' need for quiet after 9 p.m. The host may be present at the neighboring cottage.

Cozy Cottage with Modern Amenities
A beautiful spot for a retreat from the real world. Took a nap on the hammock, hiked the trails surrounding the lake and paddled around while enjoying the beautiful mountain and water views. The cottage is charming and only a mile away from the downtown, restaurants, museums and shops. Rob is a fantastic host. Highly recommend this for a couple or a single who want to get away from it all, but still have the comforts of a kitchen and bath within a cozy cottage.
PS Terri also has a nice house for rent on Windsor Lake.
Perfect lakeside weekend
Rob's lake cottage is absolutely charming and perfectly appointed for a long weekend away. The lake is great--fun to explore via canoe or swimming as well as while relaxing on the porch. Rob was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Great location, too, though two nights was scarcely enough time for all the area has to offer. Would highly recommend and hope to come back!
Thanks. Glad you ex-Californians had a good time.
