2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment (552 sq. ft.) on the beach of Little Traverse Bay
About Pam Comer
Dave and I have always loved traveling and have stayed in many vacation rentals over the past 20 years. We originally built the garage apartment next door for our son and his family but they're only here for 2 weeks a year. Now we want to share our slice of beach, lake and fun with fellow travelers.
Pam Comer purchased this Apartment in 1997
Why Pam Comer chose Harbor Springs
The cottage next door, where we live, was built in 1880 and moved from Harbor Point to its current location by horses across frozen Lake Michigan at the turn of the 20th Century. My great grandparents, grandparents, my father, my aunts, myself, my children and now my grandchildren have spent every summer here since 1920 when my father was brought up here on the train in a laundry basket!
What makes this Apartment unique
My grandfather came up to Bay View when he was eleven. He came back up in 1920 looking for a summer rental for his young family to escape the heat in Indianapolis. My grandmother vetted his choices over the phone by asking, "How do you get to the beach?" The other two cottages involved crossing railroad tracks and roads. When talking about this cottage, the answer was, "You just cross the sidewalk."

Perfect little getaway
We really had a great time at Pam and Dave's "Boat House." The space was really cozy with all of the amenities you need. The bunk beds were perfect for the boys who really enjoyed seeing Dave's Garden Train run and inside his shop. The house was only a 5 minute drive from town, too! Our favorite was the private beach where the kids looked for Petoskey stones and swam while we read. At night, we had a great time cooking S'mores in the beach fire pit, too. I only wish we had stayed one more day. We plan to come back soon!
What a wonderful place to place to spend some peaceful days. At the Boat House they've done all the big things right and all the little things, too. Have a look outside and see the lake. As you fall asleep, listen to the waves gently find their way to shore just a short distance away. Lovely hosts, excellent accommodations, and a long list of things to do in the area that we barely got started on. Sure hope we can go there again.
Best B&B in Harbor Springs
Beautifully appointed and sparkling clean. This was a top notch choice. Private beach is a plus. Totally charming.
A hidden gem
This place is amazing. Pam and Dave are the most gracious people I have ever met. We would definitely stay there again. The only thing I wasn’t prepared for was there is no freezer, but otherwise it was a fantastic weekend.
Beautiful Beach, Clean Space
The beach is unbelievable and quiet. The space is very clean and as shown. It is quite tight, but again, they clearly show that in the pictures. I enjoyed our stay.
What a find!
This place is awesome, well appointed, and so very welcoming. We wanted quiet and relaxation and it was definitely offered at this locale. We came before peak season but the town is open and the people are as friendly and welcoming as you could hope. Helpful is the word of the day. We felt so safe and close to town yet out of the main stream. Met the owner, Dave, as we arrived and he was our first taste of the friendliness. He showed us all of the features and gave us a super history of the house and a bit of town info which was spot on as we discovered. Didn't get to play with the train as weather was a bit damp but the workmanship is a wonder! We did venture out to eat because there are ample spots to try but, had we chosen to cook, this place offers everything you could want to create a culinary delight. Husband had never been this far North so I am so pleased that this experience was so positive and remain hopeful that we may be repeat guests. And make no mistake that staying here truly makes you feel like a GUEST not a customer. Thank you for opening this secret spot up for others to enjoy.
Thank you for such an excellent review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed yourselves here. We try hard to provide a relaxing experience. Please come back anytime. It was a pleasure having you here!
Harbor Springs is a mile and a half away with shops, restaurants, a post office, an ATM, a fudge shop, Tom's Mom's Cookies, Yummies, the unique Lyric Theatre for movies, and Gurneys for the best sandwiches to go. Going west on M-119 (at the top of our hill) is the beginning of the "Tunnel of Trees" which goes all the way to Cross Village where you must stop for a meal at Leggs Inn. On the way there, stopping at Thorne Swift, you can walk a boardwalk through the woods to the lake and also visit their science exhibits. Another good stop along the way for kids and everyone is Pond Hill Farm. Enjoy lunch, wine tasting, doing "squash rockets", and seeing the farm animals as well as a fish pond. When you're ready to leave Cross Village you can always go east and return to Harbor Springs on State Road.
Petoskey has its fancy shops, big box stores, a movie theatre, Pirates' Cove, and many restaurants.
