About KATE HOLDEN
Family owned home
KATE HOLDEN purchased this House in 1995
Why KATE HOLDEN chose Milford Haven
Its location is epic, a fabulous retreat for us and our dogs in the beginning and then the kids. It's very peaceful, and you can't help relaxing when you get there!
What makes this House unique
Sitting on the sun-trap deck overlooking the beach, sipping a cool drink and watching the tide come in and out - heaven. Even in winter, you can sit in the warmth of the living room and gaze through the huge windows at the sunlight sparkling on the water .

Sleepy Time ar Ferry Cottage
Life works best when there is rhythm - the most important is a steady pulse. We loved this property whose rhyme is dominated by the rise and fall of the tide. From low tide when a dry foot crossing is feasible, to a few hours later when moored boats float freeand head into the winner of the competition twixt wind and current. Missing - is the pulse of the intrusive cell phone - there is no signal which is fine.
The cottage is comfortable, well equipped with nothing to interfere with enjoyment with the days rhythm.
Lovely Family Holiday
Great Location. Spacious house with good facilities. WIFI free and appreciated by the teenagers. Good information provided. Will return.
Plumbing needs to be updated
Towels would be something I’d expect to have as standard
WiFi wasn’t working and very bad for phone signal
Overall enjoyed the stay
I’m glad you enjoyed your weekend.
Many apologies about the lack of WiFi, and that we couldn’t fix it while you were there. It turned out the router had died; it has now been replaced with a shiny new one that is working well.
Indeed there is virtually no phone signal at the house (which is beyond our control!), which is why we provide a landline.
We used to provide towels, but found people were often taking them onto the beach and wrecking them, so made the decision to stop. I realise this is a small inconvenience, but hopefully worth it for what I agree is a wonderful location!
Beautiful place. Feels like home.
We where amazed with location and views. Greate place it felt like home. I can highly recommended that house and I am sure we’ll be back there.
Peace, water, crabs
Lovely location, ideal for children, did not have the best of weather but 6 - 12 yr. olds don't really notice the weather. Very safe for children, messed about with the rowing boat one afternoon, which was fun - blind leading the blind. Much time spent crabbing when tide was right.
Found kitchen well equipped, the plumbing was interesting long wait for hot water to arrive, but it alway did arrive.
One fault was the triple bed, bottom mattress did not fit the bed, it was far too big & flopped over edge - found it impossible for two children to sleep as one would roll out, so had to make up the bed settee in the ensuite room for one child
The veranda was a bonus, but would have benefitted from a roof, the week we were there! The excellent view will soon disappear if the vegetation is not kept under control.
Would not hesitate in returning, as much appreciated the peace and quiet, even though we had 5 grandchildren with us!
3.5 Stars not a 4. Great location need more showers and the property is in need of some work
We were a group of 4 adults 4 children and a toddler and the Kitchen dinning and lounging area was a perfect size for us with lots of cooking utilities with an extra fridge and freezer that allowed us to pre book a Tesco food delivery for our arrival. Good size bedrooms although they are a bit dated and the ones downstairs smelt a bit damp but the big issue is the lack of showers. The only shower is in the en-suit downstairs bedroom even though on the 1st floor there is a massive “family bathroom” that could at least have a shower fitted in the bath or better still a separate shower (there is loads of room) plus none of the locks worked. We did have problems with the toilet and shower blocking and there were signs warning us that this is an ongoing problem. We did not use the balcony as this did not look very safe as some of the wood has rotted and where water had been laying it was quite slippery, that is a real shame as the views are brilliant. We took advantage of the location and Kayaked, fished, crabbed and swum most days as this is on the doorstep. Milford Haven mariner has some great places to eat such as Foam and Martha’s Vinyard. If the owner addressed the points above this would be 5/5 recommendation but 3.5 is our honest opinion
Unique setting on secluded unspoilt beach leading to tidal creek. In the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the Pembrokeshire Coast path passes the door. Fabulous ever changing view over waterway. Local pub/restaurant (with post office counter) is 1 mile away in the village.
Other Activities: Crab fishing, rock pools, painting
