About the property

4 bedroom house, accommodating a maximum of 8 people, fully equipped

Built against the cliff, during the French revolution, this house is full of charm. Comfortably furnished with a mixture of antique and new pieces, it has a a salon with fireplace, separate dining room, pantry, large well equipped kitchen. Two sets of stairs lead to the second deck, which has a library and a full bathroom, including bathtub and separate shower, two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with twin beds. Another staircase leads to the third deck, opening into a large bedroom containing a canopied queen size bed; the fourth bedroom has another queen size bed, and there is another full bathroom.

A covered terrace overlooking the pool serves as an outdoor sitting room; another terrace shaded by an ancient mulberry tree serves as an outdoor dining room. The garden is designed in the French manner, filled with trimmed bushes, olive trees, roses and scented plants. Fully enclosed. Located behind the Saracen towers dominating the view at the top of the cliff overlooking the village.

This is an old farm with charm and comfort, showing old beams in the ceiling, thick stone walls, beautifully decorated in Provencal style.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Close enough to the coast for day trips, as well as places such as Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. The Luberon is not far. Lovely restful garden in the French style.

A holiday house for discerning people who enjoy comfortable attractive surroundings, enjoy a well stocked library, like to cook, and who wish to absorb the magic of Provence at its best. Not suitable for young children, but we can be flexible. We request no smoking inside the house. Private catering can be arranged. Very well prepared frozen foods of good quality available at Picard in Brignoles, can make life easy.



Car: necessary

The house is located in the charming village of Cotignac, in the Var, described as La Provence Vert. The village is well supplied with food shops, boulangeries and pâtisseries, a butcher, a fishmonger, a small

supermarket,good restaurants, antique shops, physicians and dentists, coiffeures, and everything one might need. One hour inland from St Tropez, one and a half hours from either Nice or Marseilles. Well placed to visit numerous attractive sites in the South of France, including Mediterranean beaches, L'Abbaye du Thoronet, Les Gorges de Verdon, the château d'Entrecasteaux, the mediaeval villages of Fox-Amphoux and Tourtour, charming Moustières-Ste-Marie. Aix-en-Provence and Avignon are within easy reach, as are Grasse and St Paul-de-Vence. Vineyards offering excellent wines for tasting abound, including Château Ste Roseline where you can see a magnificent Chagall mosaic.

Directions to reach the property:

From Brignoles or Carces

Drive past the service station and over the bridge. At the foot of the Cours Gambetta (lined with plane trees), turn sharp right following the D13, past the wine cooperative and up the hill until you reach the top of the escarpment. There will be the two Saracen towers on your left. About 100m from the Chemin des Tours, you will see a yellow villa on your left. 2001 Rte de Sillans is immediately next door, with a black gate angled to the road. The north wall of the house is flush on the road.
