'It was all so far away--there was quiet and an untouched feel to the country and I could work as I pleased.' Georgia O'Keeffe

Serenity abounds at Casa Bonita, where it is easy to see why this country had such a profound impact on Georgia O'Keeffe. Light and open, this modern adobe rests on ten acres overlooking Abiquiu Lake towards Ghost Ranch, with gorgeous views in all directions. Picture windows throughout the living area allow you to appreciate the vistas from the comfort of the well-appointed interior. The covered portales (covered porches) are ideal for enjoying the tranquility of the environment. Admire the view of the Pedernal from the portale off of the master suite, or take in the iconic landscape of Ghost Ranch while you grill on the portale off of the kitchen.

Spend your days hiking, visiting area galleries, or reconnecting with your own creative side. And after enjoying the unique sunset at the end of the day, savor the starlight of the unadulterated night sky.

'My first memory is of light--the brightness of light--light all around.' Georgia O'Keeffe

NOTE: RV's, trailers of any sort, large trucks, and small vehicles: motorcycles, skimobiles and such are prohibited in this gated community, called High Mesas.

With spectacular views and a noticeable absence of people, light and noise, this was a fantastic escape. We hope to come back.

Remote, serene, and aesthetic--a perfect getaway!

The home is stunning--architecture, layout, decor, the views, and the ambience. But it's also cozy, practical, and functional. No matter the purpose of your stay, it accommodates with luxury. I would unhesitatingly recommend it!

Pristine, roomy, unimaginable views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful adobe overlooking Lake Abiqui in October. Large windows with spectacular views of the hills & lake,well-furnished & equipped 2 bedroom home, & fabulous artwork. Took a hike down to the lake & we were the only ones around. So peaceful & beds were very comfortable. Will definitely stay here again. You won't regret booking this beautiful home.

Peace, tranquility & amazing views

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I have stayed in the Abiquiu area several times, but this rental has been our favorite. Privacy abounds, nature’s beauty surrounds, in a cozy home w/everything you’d need. Sacred Mountain view upon awakening starts the day off in a peaceful way. Hope to return someday.

Quiet and Stunning

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Bonita. We passed by burrowing owls and prairie dogs every day (which the kids loved). Saw lots of rabbits, deer, birds and lizards. The view was fantastic and the setting serene. Perfectly located we spent time in the Chama River Valley, Ghost Ranch, Echo Amphitheater, Abiquiu, Bandelier, and Tsankawi. The house itself is beautifully made and maintained.

Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Bonita! The home and views were even more beautiful than pictured, and John and Scott were thoughtful hosts who took a lot of care in providing very detailed and helpful information to ensure a wonderful stay. They were very quick to reply to our messages. The house itself was gorgeous, immaculately clean, and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. Though stormy weather fouled up our plans to explore more of the area (sadly, we couldn't picnic at Lake Abiquiu or go hiking), the house proved to be the perfect place to hole up, and thanks to the enormous, crystal clear picture windows on all sides, we had a front row seat to the dramatic, ever-shifting skyscape during a day-long thunderstorm. We got to see some incredible lightning storms in the evening as well. Rain or shine, it's a magical experience to stay here, and we'd come back in a heartbeat.
