Mid century meets modern at Seven Lakes

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,550 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 28 nights

About the property

A popular playground for Hollywood stars from the 50s to today, Palm Springs has for decades been the holiday destination of choice for those looking for an idyllic winter getaway in the California sun.

Aptly inspired by our favorite Rat Pack crooner Dean Martin, our recently renovated condo 'That's Amore', is where mid-century meets modern. Delight in all the coolness of the 60s with today's conveniences. This 1550 sq ft, semi-detached home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, is fully decked for foodies, golf addicts, architect geeks, and sun lovers alike. Golf where presidents have played and we’ll even provide the clubs!

Enjoy the best of the Palm Springs lifestyle! Seven Lakes Clubhouse has a new Culinary Institute of America trained chef and we're just a few blocks from the Parker Hotel!

Enjoy this gated community with indoor/outdoor living, 10 ft. walls of glass opening up to the 16th fairway on one side of the house, and a private walled courtyard on the other. This hipster home offers retro style in a country club community that remains a favorite amongst mid-century architectural fans.

As Seven Lakes recently celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary, come enjoy this gated community and private golf club with magnificent mountain views, just minutes from either downtown Palm Springs or the airport. With a private executive golf course on your doorstep, 7 small lakes and 15 pools & spas, tennis courts, unique mid-century architecture, and glorious landscaping over 120 acres of land, Seven Lakes offers pretty much everything.

Golfers delight in the hand-manicured, executive, 18-hole course designed by Ted Robinson. The layout makes playing fun and challenging no matter what your handicap. Play on the same course of famous pros and celebrities -- Johnny Revolta, PGA Hall of Fame Member, was a permanent resident here -- and President Dwight D. Eisenhower had his ONLY hole-in-one, where he played with President Lyndon B. Johnson. The renovated William Cody designed Club House restaurant and bar offer superb lunches, dinners and buffets, as well as catering services.

The architecture is classic mid-century-modern, built in the 1960s and designed by Ric Harrison & William Cody, the expansive, floor to ceiling, sliding glass walls, huge volume/high ceiling rooms, along with atria, pressed block and shade overhangs are unmatched in the Valley. Architectural designs feature a simple sophistication of true mid-century details: patterned concrete block; 10’ ceilings; walls of glass; clerestory windows; large and open floor plans. This is also the lowest density residential community in the valley and one of the few private golf courses.

With its sparkling Lakes, San Jacinto mountain vistas and countless mature citrus & palm trees, Seven Lakes captures the beauty of desert golf and the essence of country club living.

About Lori Pike

We've been in the hospitality industry for over thirty years. Mike is originally from Vancouver, Canada and previously had several restaurants. He currently operates a boutique winery in the Okanagan. Lori is from Scottsdale, Arizona and previously owned a lakeside cottage rental in the Okanagan, which she recently sold.

We've always loved the modernist look and were attracted to Palm Springs for its unique mid-century modern architecture, outstanding climate, and large variety of outdoor attractions.

Lori Pike purchased this house in 2013

Why Lori Pike chose Palm Springs

We visited Palm Springs for the first time seven years ago and fell in love the vibe of the community that truly has everything under the sun. From groovy retro architecture, to world-class dining and shopping, to an abundance of outdoor activities -- hiking, cycling, tennis, golf and so much more.

What makes this house unique

The Seven Lakes community is truly special, from the breathtaking scenery, golf literally at your doorstep, and upscale amenities like none other in Palm Springs.

Some of our favorite activities -- picking fruit from the citrus trees by our backdoor and enjoying freshly squeezed juice on the patio, brunch at Seven Lakes Country Club, hiking the Lykken trail, sunning by the pool, and walking over to the Parker for dinner and drinks.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had an outstanding time and felt right at home since day one in your condo. Your wine was delicious and a lovely welcome to That's Amore. Everything was so very comfortable. Being back in Palm Springs was so much fun! We visited a lot of our 'old haunts' and found some new ones. You have such a great place, we hope to return sometime in the future!"

A Relaxing Retreat.

  • 5 of 5

The most restful holiday we’ve ever taken. The house is spacious but comfortable, and had everything we needed. I especially loved the private courtyard and fruit trees surrounding the property. Delicious!

We’re counting the days until we can return! Thanks Lori.

Four weeks of quiet relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in That's Amore with another couple, and had a wonderful four weeks. The unit has a beautiful open floor plan. The air conditioning here is excellent... we would turn it off when we were out, and found that we could quickly cool the unit once home. For future visitors, we highly recommend you try Pool #4E. It's just out the back door and across the 16th green, and offers shade AND sunshine, making it a comfortable place for everyone to relax. It was a very pleasant stay.

Seven Lakes Condo

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, well equipped mid-century modern property well situated near the airport and convenient to downtown Palm Springs. Owners were most accommodating and the condo was perfect to check out the area and the condo complex. I would stay here again in a flash!

Great vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We spent three months in Lori's place this past winter and really enjoyed our time there. The house is exactly as pictured - I liked the fact that there are windows on both sides of the living area so it is always bright - and the solar shades are there if needed. The beds were very comfortable too. The air-conditioning works very well so we were able to turn it off when we went out and cool the rooms very quickly on our return. It's a short drive to downtown Palm Springs and not too far to Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage etc. The Palm Springs trolley called The Buzz runs from Thursday to Sunday and we found that very convenient for getting into town without worrying about parking on busy days. We didn't use the golf course but it was certainly well-kept and looked like it would be fun to play. The clubhouse restaurant had very nice meals. Lori was very easy to deal with and really cared that her guests were happy with her place. The TV was equipped with a PVR and many more channels than we could watch and the internet was problem-free . We would definitely return to That's Amore should the occasion arise. Thanks Lori!

Wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Our family has spent a month at Lori's vacation home and we enjoyed every minute of it. The home is exactly as shown on the pictures, it is airy and bright with a wonderful view of the golf course green. We especially loved the fact that it has two patios oriented East and West so practically all day you can choose if you want to sit in the sun or the shade. The loungers are very nice as well. There is central air and it works within a minute. There are two pools very close to the home and there are 13 more at Seven Lakes if you want variety. With a toddler, we loved the fact that we did not have to worry about pool safety all day since the pools are fenced in. The neighborhood is very quiet, no road noise and even airplane noise hardly makes it to Seven Lakes which is surprising considering how close it is to the airport. Downtown Palm Springs is just a short drive away. There are two nice bikes, which is a very nice addition. The BBQ grill is awesome. This home is everything one could possibly need for a relaxing vacation in the sun. We'd love to return again.

Comfortable and affordable accommodations, wonderful host

  • 4 of 5

This rental is very spacious and open, with everything you could possibly need. The price point is also extremely reasonable. For the same price at a hotel, you'd stay at a low- to low/mid-range facility; whereas at this unit, you have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully-stocked kitchen, soft and comfortable bed, cable, fabulous A/C, and you're located right smack in the middle of a golf course. As it is located on a country club, it is also extremely quiet, which for us was wonderful. Lori, the owner, could not be more helpful, kind, and responsive. We would without question stay at this unit again.
