This Cottage is on the lake at water level and a private setting, only minutes from Traverse City. Cozy comfort is what you will get with this knotty pine rustic feel cottage. There is a large deck to start your morning off with a warm cup of coffee. Enjoy the quiet, watch and listen to wildlife activities from a few feet away on the lakeside deck. Two bedrooms with Queen beds and the third bedroom has two single beds. 1 1/2 baths. Well stocked kitchen with full stove and oven. Sandy bottom waterfront, fire pit and plenty of chairs for relaxing in the sun. The dock is great for fishing off of or for tying up your boat. The lake has several bays and islands to explore with the 2 kayaks and a paddle boat provided for you. A DNR launch site is only a few miles away.
During one of our vacations to Spider Lake, we had an opportunity that we did not expect. To purchase a cottage of our own. This is Pohl's Paradise and we would like to share a bit of that with you. This is truly a little bit of heaven. If you want to relax and enjoy a great family vacation this is the spot!
Mike and Tami Pohl purchased this cottage in 2014
Location / Size / Function / Feel: We walked into this property and and could not believe the setting. It is perfect for what we wanted to have on Spider Lake. When you walk in the door you know you are up north and the location is private and beautiful.
Quaint, Up North, Boating, Fishing, Traverse City, Wine, Casinos, Sleeping Bear Dunes....you can enjoy a quiet day alone or you can drive 15 minutes to Traverse City and enjoy all of the activities they have to offer. You really have the best of both worlds.
Weather was hot, hot, hot! Loved floating in the lake and relaxing. Water was warm as bath water!
We spent a week at this cabin with basically 4 full size humans (2 teens) there was plenty of room. the over all accommodations were adequate for a vacation cabin - the beds were not the softest but not the worst. It has everything you need in the kitchen and lots of other nice little touches. Only catching point for us was one bedroom up stairs the air conditioning did not really cool off - but open the door add a fan and all was ok. The lake mornings were awesome loons calling fish jumping and a Bald Eagle landing in trees right across the little bay excellent place to sit and enjoy coffee. Cabin was clean and well maintained.
The lake is amazing - we caught 4lb bass right off the shore by the cabin and tons of pan fish. Rented the pontoon from the info at the cabin and it made the trip that much more fun. No wake before 10am and after 8pm made enjoyable sunset boat rides! Plus we caught a ton of nice fish just trolling Pike and big bass!
Would rent again if we go up that way... owners were awesome and easy to work with!
Thank you to the Pohls for a wonderful relaxing vacation. Wonderful cottage absolutely stocked with everything you could possibly need. Your personal touch to the decor and welcome gift was a first for us. We have been coming up to Spider Lake for ten years now and this was by far our most favorite place to stay! We will be back next year!
A very relaxing week at your lovely cottage. Enjoyed swimming and kayaking. The location is private and quiet, but shopping and city life only a short drive away. Kitchen well stocked and all basic amenities provided. Media and wifi better than I have at home. Recommend highly for a peaceful getaway.
Our family stayed at the Pohl's cottage for six nights over the Father's Day weekend and had a great time. The property was as advertised and very comfortable. The location on the lake is perfect, it felt very private while also providing easy viewing of the lake. The boat launch was only a short drive away and with the dock at this cottage we were able to bring our boat and keep it right there. Fishing was very good, we caught quite a few nice bass and a couple of 30"+ pike. We also enjoyed the kayaks, BBQ and fire pit. I spoke with Tami on two separate occasions and she was very helpful, polite and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this property to others and are already considering booking again next year.
Our first time at Pohls' Spider Lake cottage. It was the perfect home base to start from to begin our annual wine tasting tour get together which included grandma (me), two daughters and two granddaughters. The panoramic views from the cottage were awesome...nature at its best! The pictures and amenities as shown on their website are truly as described. Hope we can return next year.
Perfect location on Spider Lake that also has frontage on a quiet cove. We loved getting up in the morning and kayaking before breakfast. Loons kept us company as we paddled across the lake. With level frontage, it's easy to build a camp fire, eat outside and get back and forth to the cabin. The whole place is what up north is all about. Mike and Tami have done a great job welcoming renters.

Sleeping Bear Dunes - Terrific Day trip to see the most Beautiful place in America - Bring a camera and walking shoes.
State Theater in TC - Privately owned and operated by the community. Great atmosphere to see a movie.
