About Allegra Duerre

Allegra and Clint Duerre own The Allegra Savona with their parents Beth & Robert Duerre. They live in the North East part of South Dakota, in the small town of Bristol. Clint and Allegra have 2 young children and own an Excavation business. Robert is a semi-retired farmer and Beth is a retired school counselor.

Allegra Duerre purchased this house in 2011

Why Allegra Duerre chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

When we bought our home we were looking for something as a get-away from our cold SD winters and close to water to boat and fish and a pool for the kids! This is our Home away from home and we love the area we chose because of its friendly neighborhood, close to Sanibel Island and Fort Myers, restaurants, groceries, shopping, etc. We love spending time as a family in FL and we hope to make special memories and experiences for our children to look back on for years to come.

What makes this house unique

When we found our home we loved the cozy, welcoming feel it gave us. We really like being on the canal, having the dock to fish anytime and the relaxing evening cruises on our boat down the canal. We enjoy having breakfast and coffee on the lanai in the morning or sitting out with a glass of wine in the evening. The Southern exposure in the back is wonderful all day long!

Was just what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

We booked to stay at this villa, but unfortunately I am writing this at the time that hurricane Irma is hitting Florida. We were due to arrive on the 14th September but we had to cancel our vacation a few days before but wanted to post a review. Allegra was a pleasure to deal with from the start. When we sadly had to cancel she gave us a full refund without any hesitation. We are crossing fingers that her beautiful villa escapes any damage & that her & her family are safe. Hopefully we will have an opportunity to rent it another time. Thank you Allegra

Owner's Response: Your kindness and understanding under these circumstances, is appreciated more than you know!! We are happy to say that are neighbors and property manager are safe and unharmed. Our home fared well during the hurricane and maybe some minor repairs and yard cleanup, so hopefully you are able to plan a vacation to our home in FL in the future. We would love to have you! Thanks Again! Allegra Duerre

Very beautiful home and back yard! Very clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We felt very comfortable in this immaculate home. Comfortable mattress, soft sheets, good shower. You can fish off the dock in your back yard; my boys loved that. Allegra is very easy to work with too. I highly recommend this home.

Beautiful house - a few odd things though...

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 5 nights at this house in early August. First, we were happy with our stay - I want to be clear on that. The house is beautiful - clean, nice furnishings, etc. The kitchen came stocked with everything we would need, so that was also great. The furnishings were very nice - not outdated at all or dirty. Really, it was a lovely house. The few odd things we didn't care for were...

1) the TV setup - it was a total pain in the butt to get the TV working at times. They have this whole surround sound system set up that means you have to click like 3 different buttons in HOPES that it actually gets the TV working as it should. I realize that sounds silly - like, three buttons, no big deal. Trust me, I'm a technical person and one day we fiddled with that stupid remote for 20 minutes to get a darn cartoon on for my son.

2) We ran out of toilet paper - simple enough, there has to be more in a vacation rental that provides so much...right?? NO. When I asked the property manager where I can find more toilet paper, she responded saying that they didn't supply paper products. Really?? Even the cheap Motel 6 down the road supplied toilet paper. On our vacation, when we're supposed to be relaxed, we find ourselves running to the store for something so simple.

3) Upon checkout, they wanted us to start a load of laundry. Ok, I mean, I suppose that's not the worst thing in the world. However, again, they don't supply laundry detergent. We are asked to do laundry of the linens, but, you don't give us the soap to do so. I've rented other homes where we strip the beds and put the linens in laundry room - no sweat. However, they want a load started. Then, if that's the case - supply the detergent. Again, something I don't want to have to do on vacation...laundry.

So, for those reasons alone I don't know if I'd stay here again. There are too many other nice homes in the area that will make it a bit easier to stay with them - in other words - give us toilet paper and don't make us do the laundry upon check out.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that you found some issues with your stay! Our main goal is for everything to run smoothly for those staying in our home! 1) I understand that the "smart" remote for the TV can be a pain to use, especially if you aren't using the surround sound or other components. We have decided to go back to the regular Comcast remote for the ease of use for our families. 2) We try to leave enough toilet paper to get families by for awhile (1 roll by the toilet and extra under the sink in each bathroom), but when you have very large families using the home, you may run out the day before you leave!! We dont supply food or unlimited paper products as you will find most homes you rent do not as well. You sure could have stayed at a nearby motel and rented 2 rooms during your stay if getting unlimited toilet paper was a priority for you! 3) Yes, we ask that you please start a load of towels or sheets when you are departing to help our property manager out when she cleans to save time on washing linens for 4 beds and the towels from your stay. My property manager always leaves some detergent at the home, so it is easy for you to do so. I'm quite certain that if you would have called her at checkout and told her you were out of detergent, she would have completely understood!

We are a short 20 minutes to Sanibel Island, the shelling capitol of the world. On the way you can stop at the Tanger Outlet Mall just before the Sanibel bridge. An even larger Outlet Mall- Miro-mar is 40 minutes South in Estero. We have enjoyed watching the Twins play during their spring training at the Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. You can also see the Boston Red Sox at Jet Blue Park also in Fort Myers. We are close to Fort Myers Beach, Manatee Park, Sun Splash Family Water park, Edison/ Ford Estate & Naples Zoo.

Cruises to Key West and swamp Eco-tours are available out of Fort Myers.

You can try your luck at the Naples/Fort Myers Greyhound Track with dog/horse races and gaming in Bonita Springs. Busch Gardens is 1 1/2 hrs North in Tampa.

We have ventured an hour and a half south to Everglade City and enjoyed an air-boat ride through the everglades to see the gators!
