Our family of four stayed at this property in late July / early August. Our family of four stayed at this property in late July / early August. The accommodations are truly wonderful. The condo is very nice and very comfortable. Easy access and in a great, very quiet location at the top of the development. The location on the island is perfect. We loaded up on groceries at Costco and loaded the fridge for our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the grill worked well and we used it several times. The beds were very comfortable and our kids were very excited to play the Wii U. We didn’t watch much TV, but we did use the Netflix account. There was an issue getting it up and running but we emailed the owner and she provided great service and all the info we needed to get it going quickly! There was also a small issue with a missing HDMI cable and the property manager dropped one off the next day! GREAT SERVICE!!
Access to the amenities at the Hapuna and Mauna Kea is a tremendous benefit. No lugging beach chairs! Drive to either hotel, park, walk thru to the beach, grab some hotel provided beach towels, and then lounge in the beach chairs provided by the hotels, under the umbrellas! Can’t overstate how important that amenity was and we chose this property because it provided that, and we took full advantage. We also went to the community pool which was very nice and pretty quiet. The gym is a little small but has fair amount of equipment.
Lots of other beaches nearby (which we didn’t even bother to go to on this trip), close to Kawaihae and Waimea, and far enough away from the airport and Kona to be quiet but very drivable. Finally, the sunset views from the lanai are AMAZING! Every single night, just stunning. Unobstructed view. Worth the price just for that!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and we look forward to staying again. A wonderful vacation at this great condo that sleeps 4 easily.
Our family stayed in this lovely condo as a respite from super intense work schedules. It could not have been more perfect. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, ate on the lanai, relaxed in the spacious rooms, and enjoyed the two most beautiful beaches I have ever seen: Hapuna and Mauna Kea. Swimming in the ocean here is an indescribable pleasure enhanced by the amenities of the excellent hotel complexes.
We definitely hope to return.
For my 70th birthday all the family including six grandchildren spent a week there in two condo houses. The houses were new and comfortable with all the facilities we needed. We fully enjoyed a brief stay in heaven.
We spent 5 days in this condo during our vacation to the Big Island and Maui. This place is the best of all possible worlds: the condo is spacious and very private in a quiet area overlooking a golf course but it's also part of the Mauna Kea resort so you have all the comforts of home with all the amenities of two nice hotels.
I was initially concerned that the condo would be too far from the beach, but the location is great. The view from the exceptionally-large lanai is incredible and it's only a 2-minute drive to the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel where you can valet your car for free while you enjoy the day at the pool and at spectacular Hapuna Beach (maybe the prettiest beach in Hawaii).
The condo complex is pretty low-key; the units are located in small, two-story buildings designed to sort of blend into the surroundings. No concrete jungle feel, like in parts of Maui. If you can't spare the 2 minutes to drive to the hotel, the complex has its own amenities center with a nice pool, hot tub, fitness center, large indoor sitting area and even a book exchange. In the evenings, after a day at the hotel pool and beach, we would come back to the condo for some awesome star-gazing - you won't believe the number of stars!
The condo itself is open and spacious, nicely decorated, and well stocked - everything you want and need in a vacation rental. The property managers are extremely helpful. Our first morning, the coffee maker wasn't working, but we just called the office (all the important numbers and details are provided at check in) and 10 minutes later, someone arrived with a new coffee maker.
Some suggestions for restaurants and activities: Island Lava Java in Waikoloa Village (worth the 15-min drive for the cinnamon rolls and b-fast sandwiches), the Shops at Mauna Lani (a bit closer with other good eating options, including a vegan restaurant), Volcano National Park (how often do you get to walk across a volcanic crater?) and, if you want to see some amazing coral and pretty good fish, try snorkeling at Captain Cook monument.
We were so sad to leave this place. My husband joined us in Maui, where I spent most of the time saying things like, "you think this water is clear? You should have seen the water at Hapuna Beach," and "you call this a view?? You should have seen the view from the lanai at our Mauna Kea condo."
It was truly a wonderful place!
Lovely, spacious and comfortable for our family of six. It had everything we needed.
My family and I spent 10 days here recently. We were met by the very warm and friendly property manager and felt right at home. The condo is very comfortable and large with all necessary stocking for an easy transition with 2 small kids. We visit Hapuna and Mauna Kea yearly and this was out first condo rental so we were a little nervous. It was perfect and we were very happy there. The beds were really comfortable and we loved seeing the early morning light change over the golf course and water. We spent each day down at one of the hotels so didn't make full use of the private pool and exercise area but did visit once and enjoyed the pool. The other folks at the condo complex that we met were very warm and friendly and we definitely felt the spirit of Aloha. The stars were really gorgeous at night since there are so few lights around. I'd suggest this home to anyone.
Watch Humpback whales breach from December through April while relaxing on lanai.
