Enterprise House Rental Photos and Description

A large three bedroom house, 200 metres from the sea, in the Enterprise area

Driftwood is a pretty 3 bedroom Barbadian house, built in a colonial style and surrounded by a very lovely tropical garden with fruit trees including a huge mango tree which is visited by a family of monkeys each morning! Driftwood is 100yds from Freights bay, known as the best beginners surfing spot on the island. The house is also a few mins walk from Miami beach which are well loved by families as the white coral sands and gentle waves are perfect for swimming. There is also a great old bus on the beach which serves rum punch, soft drinks and delicious local snacks on picnic tables under the shady Casuarina trees. At Driftwood house there are polished wooden floors, a fully fitted kitchen, study/TV room and large living room with a beautiful wrap around veranda overlooking the garden. All the bedrooms are equipped with AC and have overhead ceiling fans and the house is made of a tropical hardwood called Greenheart which keeps the house cool on the hottest days.

There are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, 1 en-suite. There is also great tv room/study with a sofa bed and chairs for watching movies and tv in the evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a large American style fridge with a crushed ice and cold water dispenser. At night sipping drinks on the verandah, listening to the tree frogs and looking at tropical garden in the twilight is a great experience and the early morning visit by the mango tree from the visiting family of monkeys is not to be missed!

Note: we also have a very pretty 1 bedroom apartment with its own balcony and separate entrance which can be rented at the same time. Please ask for details.

About Dagny Bain

We are an English family originally from Barbados who have lived for many years in Portugal. We have two young sons who love returning to Barbados to surf, swim and spend time relaxing with friends and family. We like helping to make our visitors feel comfortable and at home, so we have a wonderful manager called Margaret, a Barbadian who has been in the tourist business for over thirty years who welcomes our guests to the house and makes sure they have everything they need for a fabulous holiday. She is a font of knowledge for the best places to swim and sightsee and tips on where to find great food and nightlife locally.

We take great pride in making sure that Driftwood is properly equipped and well managed so that our guests have a fabulous, stress free beach holiday and want to return over and over again.

Dagny Bain purchased this house in 2010

Why Dagny Bain chose Christ Church

Driftwood house is in a lovely unspoilt part of Barbados, close to the sea but in a quiet and safe residential area on the South coast. Dagny (wife and mother) grew up in Barbados and knows the island well - searching for the right property took some time but we knew as soon as we saw the house it was exactly what we were looking for - big enough for visiting members of family yet cosy enough as a romantic getaway for couples. Its close enough to the beach for children to walk there by themselves and the surfing spot at the bottom of the road in Freights bay keeps teenagers and young people happy for many hours.

What makes this house unique

A visiting family of monkeys comes for breakfast early most mornings, they sit on the stepping stones in the garden under the mango tree, to eat the bananas that hopefully you´ve left for them the night before...

The house is just 100yds from the sea and a short walk into Oistins town alongside the beautiful turquoise blue Caribbean sea

Guestbook comments from the owner

`Driftwood is one of the prettiest houses we´ve rented in Barbados, it is stylish and comfortable and we felt completely at home sitting on the verandah in the evenings. The garden with the huge mango tree is wonderful. A real gem.´

"Driftwood Revisited"

  • 5 of 5

Our "Driftwood" staycation was a great way to have family (folk in from the UK and Bermuda) all under one roof for much needed family time and creating new memories this summer. The only disappointment with the property is that the mangoes were no longer in season. Dagny and I share the same great taste in earth tone furnishings and so "Driftwood" always tends to feel very much like home away from home. The time spent on the wrap around and in the garden is never enough!!! You can tell when folk have a great time because plans to "go out", don't manifest and the group was sad upon leaving. Another great stay, Dagny!!!! Thanks for everything.

Family Get Together

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Driftwood for 10 days and had a wonderful time. The back porch was the hang out spot, we loved it. Our Family was a group of 10 so we rented both the attached apartment and the main house. The rental process was extremely painless thank to Dagny, she responded back to all question within 24 hours. Margaret, the Manager was so helpful, she would always call back within the hour if you left a message. She came by the house just to meet us and to find out if everything was going ok. The entire staff was very helpful.

The house was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a well maintained rental and helpful staff. Plus you have the added bonus of walking distance to a beautiful beach.

Beautiful house very well located

  • 5 of 5

Driftwood is a beautiful colonial house in a very quiet location, Margaret the Manager is very helpful and always available for any questions you may have. The house is a 5-10 min walk down the coast road from Miami beach and Oistins so the location couldn't be better. We didn't hire a car as we like to walk and get to know places, the neighbours are also very friendly we would definitely stay there again.

Great house, good location.

  • 4 of 5

The House was VERY nice. We had a family of five for a week and then 2 grandparents and we fit nicely. The house was safe even for the toddler. The grounds and staff maintained it well, and amenities were comprehensive......and WiFi was strong. With three kids, the walk to Miami Beach is a bit frightening, but we had a car. Surfing each morning at the end of the street (150m walk) in Freights Bay with the turtles was unbelievable. Great shells in the morning on the beach as well!

We had a wonderful stay.....thank you!

Lovely house-as per photos

  • 4 of 5

Property was excellent. While there were screens on bedroom windows the ocassional mosquito found its way in. Wife developed Zika towards the end of the stay. I would recommend spraying the bedrooms before retiring. The kitchen was well equiped and considering the prices in restaurants certainly was an advantage. Barbados is for a Canadian a very expensive destination. Prices in restaurants and groceries are 50-100% more expensive than large canadian cities. This property though, was good value for the money. I will not likely be returning to Barbados any time soon, but if I were, I would certainly consider staying at Driftwood again.

Driftwood is in a quiet, road, on the coast called Enterprise 100yds from Freights bay, known as the best beginner surfing spot in Barbados. Miami beach which is loved by families is just a few mins walk along the coast. The peaceful walk has spectacular views of the turquoise blue Caribbean sea. A two to three minute drive by car or a short walk takes you to the lovely little fishing town Oistins, where fresh fish markets, supermarkets, bars and souvenir shops are located. On Friday night Oistins has a great `fish fry´ which is loved by tourists and local alike, with some of the best food on the island - not to be missed! The popular, St Lawrence Gap is also close by with its lively night life and numerous excellent restaurants. Grantly Adams International Airport is 10 drive minutes away.

We have recently had air-conditioning fitted in all three bedrooms. AC costs 10$US per day per unit or 25$US per day for all three as the bedrooms all have ceiling fans, which many guests prefer to use - the AC option is really an extra as the house is made of a tropical hardwood which keeps the bedrooms cool on the hottest days. We also have a lovely separate 1 bedroom apartment for rent that sleeps 2 people, please contact us for details.
