Great quiet location and beautifully renovated “cottage” in out of the way Bailey Island.
This may be a cottage location, but it has the amenities of a small home. It’s a well appointed, bright, open concept, beautifully renovated cottage with wifi, TV, and satellite music as well as a great outdoor deck with a gas BBQ.
We had only visited Bailey Island for a couple of hours before and loved the area but had not stayed here. Our only noticeable neighbours in October were 6 wild turkeys each am!
We explored Lands End (shop and beach), Johnson Beach and the cove behind it, The Giant Stairs, Seaside Creations and Mackerel Cove where owner Carl keeps his boat.
We also ventured to South Harpswell, seeing lobsters loaded into a truck, the Reversing Falls and more. During the week in mid October however, some restaurants are closed weekdays or for the season.
We enjoyed the photo album showing renovations and representing the care and pride owners Carl and Leslie have in this home. We were also delighted to meet Carl, a very interesting man. They have created a binder of maps and local restaurants and points of interest in the area.
We hope to return and explore more of this beautiful and somewhat remote part of Maine!
Overall experience was great. Great place to stay
The house was very well taken care of. Nice and clean. Amazing location. Instructions were well posted and easy to read and follow. Only complaints was that the heater was rather noisy. And thought it kind of strange we had to provide our own sheets and towels. It wasn't a big problem for us because we didn't live too far away. But anyone traveling to visit maine by plane might not have space to pack such items. Over all though a very nice private place to stay with all the amenities of being in your own home!
We rented this house for the month of September and couldn't be happier with our choice. This newly renovated house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. When they say just bring sheets, towels and food....thats all you need to pack. We loved the location being so close to great restaurants, the Giant Stairs and Mackerel Cove. We will definitely be returning to this hidden gem on Bailey Island. Thank you,
I Could Live Here
Great little place. Newly remodeled and very clean. Well equipped with all your basics. Quiet with a nice view. Owner readily available in person or by phone. You are at the extreme tip of the island and there is not a lot out here. The town of Brunswick is nearby if you need to make a grocery run.
Take a 20 minute drive to Erica's Seafood over in Harpswell. This was the best casual fish/lobster shack we came across during our week here. The owner does provide basic cable tv. There is wireless internet in the house. It can be kind of sporadic at times. People don't come here for the internet. They come to chill and relax. And this place is all you need to do that in comfort.
It was great!
I submitted already 2 reviews. It was great!
This place was perfect for what we needed. Right next to my brothers wedding. Very clean, spacious, and modern. I had my parents bring out towels and sheets which worked out, otherwise bringing out these items would have been a little tough for flying travelers. The owners are super nice, ran into Carl. Thanks for the great spot!
