Derek Webb purchased this estate in 2012
If you are looking for a very private estate that is legal for large groups, this is your spot. The property is used for destination weddings many weekends an corporate and health and wellness retreats during the weekdays. With this, your get the use of 20 private acres, incredible swimming pool, and gym. This is an tranquil location above the congested Napa Valley but only minutes to the historic village of Calistoga.
This is a very different experience than a normal resort or VRBO house rental. SSS is a boutique resort nestled in the hills above Napa Valley. This private property has been meticulously restored to it's historic grandeur. It is available only during the weekdays for tranquil occupancies.
My wife and I hosted our daughters wedding at the Triple S Ranch/Napa over a 3 day weekend this past October 2016. The venue setting is spectacular, set high in the hills above Calistoga. There are westerly views which afford nice breezes. The setting is historic and beautifully restored by the owner. The Victorian house and cabins are extremely comfortable accommodations, and the vintage Barn and adjacent cabins make for an amazing authentic country California setting for an event weekend of any kind. Our guests remarked on the unique nature of this beautiful setting. The Friday night welcome party for 110 utilized the authentic pizza oven and outdoor redwood tables and chairs that seat 150. The patios were utilized again on Saturday for the wedding cocktail hour, and our event was in the beautiful upper barn replete with a massive original western bar. Our guests felt as if they were being taken back in time.
For those who do not mind the extra work of bringing onto the property all needed rentals and catering for one's food needs, this property will not disappoint. The property must be seen to fully appreciate all that it offers, including redwood trees and a 100 year old black walnut tree. Ken and Midge
I've hosted yoga retreats in Tahoe at Resort at Squaw Creek and various other beautiful location. The Triple S Ranch was far and away the most perfect location for our yoga, hiking and meditation retreat. The charming, authentic decor were delightful for our guests. The beds were delicious! High quality bedding, darling accommodations! The kitchens were perfect for creating and plating our gourmet cuisine. We transformed the barn into a yoga studio and gym. With the fireplace going and chandeliers twinkling it was a work out experience like no other. Our group required some complicated extras and Derek delivered in every promise. We cannot WAIT to return in July 2016!
We got married in August here and it was amazing! Our guests were so impressed by the beauty, uniqueness and general atmosphere this venue provided. Derek's vision has really come through and the way he has redone this property is spectacular. I can't wait to get our photos back and remember it all again! Derek always responded quickly to our questions and worked with us to try to provide what we needed. There are many ways to use this property and Derek allows you to do just that. It is great how much furniture is already provided - all of it beautiful and great quality. We had a rehearsal dinner/ welcome cocktails and brunch on the patio and the reception in the barn. We managed to fit tables for 170 people in the barn and outside on the deck, and still have room for dancing. It was a bit tight but nice that it worked out!
The accommodations were perfect- charming and rustic, but with the comforts of a 5-star hotel- seriously so comfortable! and we loved having friends and family be able to stay with us the whole weekend! The bunk house was a big hit with our friends, and for us, being able to retreat to the quiet, peaceful and beautiful main house was great.
Be sure to think about fridge space needed for catering needs/desserts, all your food and beverages- we had a hard time fitting it all in. Another piece of advice, make sure you have an army of friends and family on clean-up duty/ dealing with rentals, etc.- it took much longer than we thought and was a lot of work! Unfortunately, since it is in a residential-ish area guests have to leave by 10:30 and music needs to quieted down, we understand why, but just know this isn't the place where you get to party all night with everyone.
My main complaint was that we couldn't stay for a week- 1 weekend was way too short! We didn't even get to take advantage of a lot of the amenities, like the wood burning oven! A few suggestions: trash cans in each bathroom of big house (ours didn't have one, but I think other rooms did), different colored receptacles for recycling and trash on the patio/ barn/behind the bars, having a working ice machine would be so nice (I believe this is in the works)- we spent a lot of time acquiring ice. What an amazing venue- it
Last summer my daughter and her fiancé went looking for a venue to hold their July 2015 wedding in Napa or Sonoma. They found Triple S Ranch and immediately called us to say it was just what they wanted with the caveat that it was currently under renovation and SHOULD be ready for a July wedding! My husband and I traveled to CA to visit the site with them and could see the potential and the vision owner Derek Webb had for Triple S and we crossed our fingers and signed on!
We can happily report Derek Webb's renovations far exceeded our expectations and everything was done to perfection. The patios turned out to be so beautiful we changed our original plan to hold the 6 pm wedding reception dinner in the barn and instead had it outside for our 160 guests! It was magical....after dinner we ALL danced to a live band in the barn that provided plenty of dance floor space for everyone. We used Triple S's lovely rustic cocktail tables and leather furniture in the barn and on the porch for those resting their dancing feet! Two beautiful and spacious bars (one upstairs in the barn and one downstairs that opens to the lovely patios) make the venue so functional, allowing you to use the property is so many different ways.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner in the barn Friday night and it looked so beautiful-- it was a perfect way to start our memorable and special wedding weekend at Triple S!
The property cabins housed the wedding party, friends and family--they were all beautifully renovated and the beds were extremely comfortable with lovely down-like pillows, linens and blankets. The peace and quiet was just what we needed and we were charmed by the crowing roosters each morning from a property nearby--they did not wake us up!
The bride and groom, and two other wedding party couples stayed in the COMPLETELY renovated Victorian house. Each room is beautifully appointed and the bathrooms so lovely! It was the perfect place for the bride and her attendants to get ready while the groom and groomsmen did the same in one of the larger cabins! The wedding ceremony was then held under the shade of a large walnut tree--a perfect setting indeed.
Triple S owner Derek Webb was a pleasure to work with and we would recommend this venue for anyone looking for a beautifully rustic but elegant setting for any special gathering or wedding!!
My wife and I were married a the Triple S Ranch last month and the property was everything and more of what we wished for. We signed our contract in the Spring of '14, which was 1+ yr before the property was ever completely renovated. While it was a bit of a risky decision because it is hard to know what you'll get until it is actually complete, Derek (the owner) did a fantastic job describing his vision for the property and the final product did not let us down.
My wife and I did not want a generic wedding venue and the Triple S Ranch could not be more unique. From the ironwork to the vintage signs to the shutters, every detail of the property was well thought out and executed. Derek is a collector and the majority of the unique details on the property were pieces he had collected over the years. For those considering renting the space for a wedding, we highly recommend. There are very few properties in wine country that have as much flexibility as the Triple S Ranch. Every other property we considered had very strict limitations on the property (from what wine you could serve to which vender you could use.....and the list goes on). The Triple S Ranch is a blank canvas so if you want to make your wedding one-of-a-kind, you have the flexibility to do so.
The only con we would mention is the communication at times was not the greatest. While we understand the focus was to get the venue up and running, there were times where there was a communication breakdown. There were a couple examples where we were told about things after the fact or were told about things only if we inquired. For example, there was a cabin that was to be built on the property. It was never completed and we were never informed until we visited the site a few weeks prior to our big day. Derek had thought he informed us, but that conversation never occurred. Derek apologized and refunded a portion of the property fee. I am sure a lot of the "kinks" have been resolved as the venue has been up and running for over 2 months now and by no means did it leave us having any regrets.
We have so many positive things to say about the Triple S Ranch that there isn't enough space for a VRBO review. We understand the price has gone up since we signed our contract for the wedding weekend, but we would still argue there is great value to booking the property and it is worth every penny.
We couldn't have envisioned a more perfect spot for our wedding. The property is gorgeous and it was amazing to have it all to ourselves for the whole weekend with our family and closest friends on site with us. While the property was still being finished when we had our wedding, Derek and his wife bent over backwards to make sure it worked for us. There isn't a more beautiful spot for a ceremony than under the walnut tree, the barn made for a perfect reception, and the patio was gorgeous for a Friday welcome dinner and Sunday brunch. We couldn't recommend it more highly.
The property is perfectly located in the hills above the Napa Valley. It is very private, yet only three miles to the historic village of Calistoga. Calistoga is the most quaint town in the Napa Valley. Within a few miles of the property there is: Safari West, hot air ballooning, the Petrified Forest, the Geysers, state parks for hiking, and a multitude of wineries, restaurants and spas. This is a refuge !!!
