About Debbie

Bob and Debbie Brinker

Debbie purchased this house in 2003

Why Debbie chose Lake Nantahala

WE BOUGHT THE LAND ON THE LAKE WHEN WE SAW HOW CLEAN THE WATER WAS AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. WE THEN BUILT THE HOUSE OURSELVES TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF THE VIEWS! WE ARE TRUELY IN THE MOUNTAINS-BUT ALSO HAVE GREAT VIEWS OF MOUNTAINS. THE STARS AT NIGHT ARE THE BEST! QUIET AND PEACEFUL-WHEN OUR CHILDREN WERE YOUNGER THEY PLAYED ON THE HILLS AND IN THE WATER. A CHANCE TO CONNECT AGAIN! WE LOVE IT AND YOU WILL TOO!

What makes this house unique

THE STARS AT NIGHT.

WATER OUT YOUR BACKDOOR. CLEAN AND REFRESHING.

OPEN FRESH FLOORPLAN WITH LARGE WINDOWS FOR VIEWING THE BEAUTY.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Deb,

Just wanted to thank you for the pleasure of renting your beautiful cabin on the lake from July 6th to the 13th.

I did read some of the reviews on this cabin and one person said that the pictures of the cabin are nothing like the real thing. That was so true. When we first arrived and opened the front door the view just blew me away. There were a total of 11 of us( 6 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 1 to 13 years old ). There was plenty of room for all of us and plenty to do in the cabin with the ping pong table, chess and checkers table right by that gorgous window facing the lake, tv, games and wifi(which was a surprise because I thought you were not set up for it). We had a blast swimming in the lake and using your canoe and kayak. We also rented a boat from Dave for a day and that keep us going all day. I liked renting the boat from him because he delivered the boat right to the dock which was very convenient and his price was reasonable. We found the tree swing on the lake and the kids(young and old) loved it. The only minor problem we had was the house phone service was on and off a lot, but I wasn't expecting that to work well because of the mountains.

Thanks again Deb and please use this review as you see fit.

Relaxing and scenic!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed first week of August 2017. What a beautiful location! We had 2 families (4 adults and 4 children). We spent most of our days in the lake and then evenings sitting by the outdoor firepit. No luck fishing which was a bummer. Water temp was very refreshing. There were 3 kayaks and 1 canoe provided that got plenty of use. There is a rope swing on the island that is to the left of the house when your back is to the house. You can easily canoe or kayak over to it. We rented a pontoon boat from Lake's End Marina. They were very friendly and we considered it money well spent. If you have a boat, make sure to travel up the Nantahala River because you'll truly feel like you're a thousand miles from anywhere. We pulled the kids on tubes behind the boat. We went to the Nantahala Outdoor Center one day. The whitewater rafting was a blast. Make sure to buy all your groceries on your way in. The closest grocery store is quite a journey (>40 mins). For something small that you may have forgotten, you're best bet is to go to the small store at Lake End's Marina. If you have small kids, be sure to stop by The Preserve at Little Choga. Its a little farm with a variety of animals that is about 10 min from the house. It's only $5 a person and my kids loved seeing all the cute little animals. Ping pong table was in good condition and it got lots of play. Approx 100 steps from top deck down to lake. A little exhausting but we'll worth it. Only minor needs about the house were that it could use a few more kitchenware items like a casserole dish, mixing bowls, and large knives. Everyone in the group hated to leave and we would definitely stay there again!

Owner's Response: So glad you had a good time. I will bring up the kitchen items you suggested as we did have a casserole and mixing bowls but sometimes they get re-located. We hope you all had a safe trip back home. You are welcome back anytime. Thanks Debbie and Bob Brinker We are on our way to the lake for the Eclipse as we are in the path of totality!!

The property and home were exactly as described. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to visit again. Clean, great space and the view was amazing! The owner communicated wonderfully and helped us with things to do and places to be able to grocery shop. Thank you for sharing your home!

Peaceful retreat on the water

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thouroughly enjoyed our stay in this home on the lake. There are some other homes around, but it feels very secluded, super quiet and peaceful! The decks are great with some really impressive stargazing opportunities. I''m sure the summer there is a blast with the lake! The home is really well laid out for a family with kids or even two families. All the rooms are really spacious, there is plenty of relaxing space on each level and the kitchen has all the essentials. There are some puzzles, DVDs and VHS tapes (:-0!!) with some real classics in there. Grill is well- maintained and easy access to the kitchen. The fire pit area is really nice - sadly, we didn't get to put it to use due to some weather issues and other plans, but there was firewood provided. Overall, I would say the photos of the house don't do it justice! I would definitely recommend trying to take everything you might need on your way in and stay put if possible, as it would take quite a while to get to a grocery store, etc due to the very windy and steep roads. We did this and were really glad we didn't have to leave. No quick runs for beer here! Not a bad thing, just a thing to be aware of if you aren't too familiar with the area. We would definitely stay here again, no question. Thank you for opening your lovely home!

Wonderful!

What an incredible house and view!! We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday here with family and it was the perfect place for unwinding and enjoying each other's company. The fire pit was great at night and we enjoyed floating on swimming noodles during the day. It was just right!
