Convenient

  • 5 of 5

Best features were the proximity to town and the funky casual ambiance of the house. Allowing a small dog was a huge bonus too. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Good place

  • 4 of 5

Couldn't get ahold of the manager but we showed up and walked in and everything was ready for us. I think she just respects your privacy to the max. Accommodating with rental too

Street is loud outside and the house will get very cold, but to me that was part of the rustic charm. Not the fanciest place you'll find but gets the job done.

Got my deposit back quickly.

Cute cottage close to the beach

  • 4 of 5

All the raving reviews are accurate - this is a very comfortable, well- furnished historic cottage that is very conveniently located. Its older construction is really not an issue, unless it gets chilly and you will quickly notice its lack of insulation (as you would with any older home). There are plenty of heaters here, so its not really a problem though. Everything worked well and was kept in good condition, despite what appears to be the original electrical wiring still in use.

Notably, its proximity to the beach could be a double-edged sword for some, possibly. Although it is so convenient to get anything you need only a short walk away, you will notice the noise and traffic that must make its way past your living room each morning and evening. It's not a big deal, but it may get annoying if you're here for some peace and quiet. The Von's Express store literally a few yards away is very convenient too, as are the many great eateries around town. We never even thought about using a golf cart here. Use the city shuttle or just walk instead.

Our favorite activity: the dolphin quest boat trip. We must have seen two hundred dolphins!

Perfect Catalina Cottage Experience!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to the island for 30 years, mostly staying on the water. But boats don't grow with families, so to the land we went. You can find plenty of nice cookie cutter places to stay at in Avalon, but you will never find an original cottage like this one! This cottage is a classic evolution of island architecture with half a century of memorabilia. There is plenty of space, lots of windows, great water pressure, well stocked kitchen, even a sewing kit. The living room (once a porch) has plenty of seating and feels like home. The cottage is right in town and it is easy to get to everything. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Ed and Bee for sharing your treasure!

1 block to your feet in the beautiful ocean. No really....

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband took our two boys 11 and 13. It was a trip of a lifetime for all of us. There is so much to do which I found to be a surprise. I love that you can walk anywhere you want to go. Just a relaxing, slower paced, easy going community. The water was warm (72), clear, and clean. Kids were asleep every night by 7:30 due to just having fun all day. We rented a golf cart for an hour and followed the scenic route to see as much of the island as possible. The views were just like the postcards. Just breathtaking. The locals were all so nice and helpful with our many questions. We have started saving for next year already!!!!!! Our cottage had so much island character. Skylight in the kids room, every cooking utensil you can think of so you can save some money by cooking at home. Bathroom was huge. No need for air conditioning because the island breezes kept everything nice and cool. Night life was filled with tiny white lights everywhere with lots of live music going on all around and a walk to Olafs for a waffle cone.

Exceptional Stay on Catalina Island

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on July 6th and departed on July 27th. During this time frame, we did everything we wanted to do on the island. Most importantly rested from a busy business schedule. Denise is a joy!! We had a concern with the cottage and it was fixed within 1 hour. Laundry was a blessing as we didn't bring lots of clothing. WiFi would have been great but we really weren't there to work. This was a vintage beach cottage, and everything in it was perfect. Walk to everything. Beach as close as you can get. Only concern was the "other" people who rented. Not to many people are quite. But after 21 days we understood the rhythm of Catalina Island. It's the best vintage beach cottage. You truly can not go wrong!!
