About the property

Bedrooms 1, Bathrooms 1, Sleeps 3

Savour a Roman interlude at Roma Romantica, in a 16th century Historic Palazzo originally built by the aristocratic Mattei family 500 years ago, and carefully restored to its Baroque glory. It is in a perfect location at the end of Via Coronari, a quiet and chic street in the historic center near both the Piazza Navona and the wonderful Campo dei Fiori, Rome's famed Fruit and Vegetable market in the day and open-air cocktail party by night. You will also find an easy walk to all the major attractions in the center including Castel St.Angelo, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Trastevere, St. Peters, the Colosseum and more.

The apartment is a large and spacious studio with high vaulted ceilings, original and beautifully preserved Terracotta floors, and lovely moulded, built-in cupboards, evocative of its aristocratic Renaissance heritage. There is a four-poster queen-sized bed, with luxury mattress, plus a single bed for a third person hidden within the built-in cupboards. You will also find a small corner kitchen, a bathroom with shower and bidet, Wireless Internet, and a Nespresso automatic espresso machine. It is elegantly furnished with antiques, fine fabrics, and luxury linens. It is perfect for a romantic interlude, a cultural city break, or a family visit to Rome for a couple with a child.

Roma Romantica is in our unique collection of apartments in the historic center of Rome.

Amazing location and amazing accomodations

  • 5 of 5

Susan and Adriana maintain a clean, spacious, beautiful place for a romantic get-away or for a family of four. The location could not be better. It is literally a 10 minute walk from the Vatican and St. Peters Cathedral and located in a neighborhood with multiple restaurants, shops and entertainment. I will be returning to Rome frequently this year and will hope each time I can return to this apartment. I highly recommend this wonderful, quiet place to stay to anyone visiting Rome for work or site seeing!!!!!!

Owner's Response: We thank you for your kind review, and are delighted to hear that you will return. Two things for our readers to note is that the apartment is appropriate for a family of 3, our maximum permitted, and not 4. Also, one of the great things about the location is that it is on the historic center side of the river, and across the river Tiber, as you say10 minutes walk away, is the Vatican and St. Peter, as well as the Castle Sant' Angelo, across the beautiful Sant' Angelo bridge. We look forward to your return!

Charming and cozy, and a wonderful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Rome staying at Roma Romantica! The apartment is in a great location in walking distance of just about everything. It is cozy and just the perfect place to relax and refresh after long hours of sight-seeing. The high ceilings and charming decor is so inviting. Susan leaves a list of things to do and places to eat which is so helpful. We ate at Osteria del Pegno for our Anniversary dinner and it was just perfect! We took advantage of the Rick Steves books that were at our disposal and used the wifi to download his podcasts to use as guides throughout the city which were invaluable to us. We have wonderful memories of our time in Rome and we hope to be back someday!

A Delightful Studio Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is located minutes from the Vatican, and minutes from the Piazza Novono. The space is brilliantly organized so that everything is here that is needed. We have enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again.

Our greeter and go to person was available 24/7. We are happy to recommend this place to our friends!

Heaven in Rome

  • 5 of 5

“I cannot say enough about my stay in this beautiful apartment. It's a studio yes. But it's so exquisitly done that you don't notice or care! It's large and airy with soaring ceilings and window seats that allow you to sit with your morning coffee, your afternoon wine or proseco, your evening limonchello or sambuca, and watch the life in the piazza. My first time in Rome I stayed at the Hotel Cavalieri, a 5 star luxury resort. It is true luxury. But my time in Susans apartment outshined even that experience. I will never stay anywhere else!”

Fantastic Roman apartment and stay

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful delight to have a stunning Roman view so near the apartment, Castel Sant’Angelo shining brightly in the distance, seen just a few steps from “Roma Romantica”. The convenient location of the apartment is excellent, and it is a welcome haven inside. The high-vaulted ceilings and large French windows create such grandeur in a studio space. The bed was very comfortable, and WIFI was excellent. I walked in every direction from the apartment, and it was always a welcome relief to come back to rest - it felt like home. They even provided a rolling bag for grocery shopping if you make a trip to the local market - I thought that was a nice touch for "local living"! Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write . We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay here. Yes, it is one of Rome's best neighborhoods. We share your pleasure in seeing Castello San Angelo every time we return home. And of course shares the same sense of history with its high vaulted ceilings. Do come back. Best Susan

Great place in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is absolutely first rate from the location, to the ambiance, to Adriana who greeted us and got us settled in. Everything one could want for either a relaxed stay or an action packed tourist extravaganza is within convenient walking distances including restaurants, churches, shops, historical venues. We highly recommend it and plan on retuning in the future.

The location in the heart of Rome is simply the best. Live a real Rome experience. You are a short stroll to the Campo di Fiori where you can buy some of the most beautiful produce you will ever see. You are walking distances to all the major sites, to great boutique shopping, great restaurants and intimate trattorias. Walk to Piazza Navona, the Vatican, the Pantheon, hip Trastevere, elegant Via Giulia, the Forum, the Coliseum, and much more. If you don't want to walk, bus stops are nearby, and frequent bus service will take you anywhere.

The apartment is 100 yards from the river Tiber, and directly opposite is the looming hulk of Emperor Hadrian's tomb, subsequently converted into the Castel Sant Angelo to which on more than one occasion the Popes fled along a secret passage from the Vatican to find protection within its massive walls.

Wander through the historic centre's softly-lit streets in the evening and buy a fresh sorbetto from the notable 'gelateria' in Via Coronari.

Other Activities: More history, art , and beauty than you can see in a lifetime!
