If you are traveling to the Ottawa area, why stay any place else? In fact, we were so comfortable with our fireplace, games and all the space, we never made it to Ottawa. Welcomed by Tom with keys, a roaring fire, and area information, we enjoyed the first snowfall and walked along the old Chelsea train track. The kids came back and played in the yard, while I sat in a rocking chair by the window and watched. Someone had mentioned in a review that the bathroom was in bad shape. If the purpose of your stay is to lounge in the tub, no this would not be the place for you. But it in NO WAY detracted from our wonderful weekend. So glad we stayed here!
Cozy retreat on the doorstep of Gatineau Park
A peaceful retreat after a day of hiking Gatineau’s trails or exploring Ottawa. Everything you need is here and the wood stove provides a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We really appreciated a warm fire welcoming us to the cottage - thank you Tom! Perfectly located for outdoor activities, activities in Ottawa, and luxuriating at the beautiful spa Nordik. If you crave rest and relaxation for a get away you will find it here.
Run down , smelly, bathroom was disgusting the property was littered with junk.
To be fair I must say that kitchen appeared to be well stocked and the windows were new. Also I was not happy that the sight I booked on listed the rate in US - no where did it say that I was simply charged 35% more than I thought I was going to pay. When I pointed this out to the host they did offer to refund my money. Regrettably I didn’t take them up on their offer.
Unfortunately everything else was not what was expected.
The unit is smelly and there are plugs in air fresheners to mask the odour , it’s not very pleasant.
The bathroom is disgusting - the finish is coming of the tub, previous occupants toiletries left behind the caulking around the tub is dirty. ( notice no pics on the ad) The bath room door doesn’t latch never mind lock. The sofa is old and uncomfortable so there really is no where to sit comfortably. The appearance of the property is anything but a rural retreat. There is debris strewn about some of the debris is covered with tarps some not.
Dispite what the owner may post in response I have no axe to grind with them I was just simply really disappointed for what I paid.
Lots of room for 3 women, 2 teenage girls and a puppy. Beds were comfy and kitchen well supplied. The wood burning fireplace would be lovely in the cooler months. I didn’t think to look for air conditioning in the listing when I booked so it was pretty warm and humid so I don’t think I would stay again during a heat wave. Nice place though and very homey.
A must stay while in the Gatineau area!
Cozy, relaxing, rejuvenating and a good place for the soul.

Our site is a perfect balance of country life and city proximity - we are on a country property nestled in Old Chelsea (Glen Eagle section); a much desired location as it is easy access to nearby cities of Ottawa and Gatineau.
The unit is a newly renovated ground floor apartment attached to a 1925 house on a 1.2 acre lot with beautiful gardens and plenty of outdoor relaxation or play space. It is easy to get to in all weather and is bordered by a woodlot and a creek, so there is a lot of privacy.
Nearby, the charming small village of Chelsea is 5 minutes away by car, with lots of little cafés, fine dining and the luxurious Nordik Spa. Yes, this is the Chelsea that inspired Joni Mitchell to write "Chelsea Morning"!
The same 5 minutes will take you to the fabulous Gatineau Park - with hiking, biking, beaches, zip-cording, and so much more!
A mere 10 minutes by road is downtown Gatineau and it is only 15 minutes to downtown Ottawa, both home to all kinds Canada 150 celebrations! Gatineau hosts the Canadian History Museum, Lac Leamy Casino and lots of other attractions.
