|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Master bedroom with bath, 2nd bedroom with queen size bed, 3rd bedroom with bunk beds (also have toddler bed if needed). Living room has 3 sleeper sofa's which will sleep 6. The kitchen and living room have cathedral ceilings with skylights. The living room features a tv with satellite, stereo and dvd player. It has a wood burning fireplace and there are also games and movies for your convenience. The kitchen is full and completely functional with a large country table which seats 8 comfortably. Out the kitchen door, it opens up to a large screened in porch which overlooks the water. We love having our morning coffee there. The screened in area is large enough (has a large table) so you have the option to eat outdoors as well. There is also a cooler on the screened in porch for your use. Outside the screened in porch also has an open deck in which grilling is perfect. Under the house, there is a patio area in which you could eat, read, or relax in the hammock. There are corn hole boards and bags for a friendly game. Or take the canoes, kayak or tubes out for a float. Go fishing or swimming right on the property. At night enjoy the large firepit with a fire for smores or cook your meal of hot dogs on it.
We are the Bruce Family. David and Kimberly Bruce-the owners of Bruce's Bend. We have 3 children. David was raised just one mile from the property and is very familiar with and loves the area. I was born and raised in New jersey till 1999 when I moved to Virginia. We both love to hike and be outdoors. Our children also love to hike and do all the outdoor activities that we hope you get to enjoy when you visit. We look forward to meeting new people who share the same love of the area.
Kimberly Bruce purchased this house in 1999
David grew up just a mile down the road from the property. He had visited this house and knew the prior owners and told them that if they ever wanted to sell to let him know. Fortunately for us, they decided to sell and contacted David about purchasing the house. We love the house and plan on retiring here. We have had to move for a job change at this point and thought why not let others enjoy our home while we cannot.
David was in love with the house from the first visit. The view from the couch gave the appearance that the creek flowed directly under the house. We absolutely love the screened in porch. We love sitting on the couch in the screened in porch and have our morning coffee. The house has many great points--firepit, creek view, big side yard, patio area, deck overlooking creek and much more. The screened in structure out front is the origional camp that still remains. It has a fireplace which is a good place to sit back and relax or hangout on a rainy day or evening.
Thank you so much for reviewing our home. We love it all too. We hope you will come stay again soon.
Amazing views! We felt that we were in a Fall heaven when we had breakfast in the enclosed deck. The cabin has everything you need and others in the area do not get close to it. Kimberly was very responsive and gave me all the info that I needed. Can't wait to go back! We love this place. <3
I have so many good things to say about my stay here that I could not possibly fit them all into my review or you would be reading a short novel. Fist the owners were wonderful and very accommodating with a very quick response any time I contacted them. The location is perfect, the house is beautiful. Its a perfect mix of a rustic cabin with a little luxury. The kitchen was fully stocked, there was so many games and movies to choose from. Also provided was numerous equipment for outdoor sports. It was nice having these available on the property instead of traveling to go rent a kayak or tubes. My favorite place in the house was the screened in porch. There was plenty of firewood provided for the indoor and outdoor fires. The photos do not do this place justice. The rooms were very spacious. I cant wait to go back here and spend another weekend, we did not want to leave. The only thing I will advise is that the three sofa beds in the living room are not comfortable at all, therefore I would not suggest having a large group of people stay here at once. All in all this was my favorite vacation rental ever!
Bruce's Bend was a great location for our Girls' getaway weekend. The cabin is beautiful and offers everything needed to relax and enjoy the creek and beautiful surroundings. We loved canoeing, kayaking, tubing and sitting around the fire pit - the fact that wood is provided is an added bonus! The kitchen is fully stocked and spacious although we are most meals on the screened porch. We would definitely return to this fantastic home. Thank you for sharing it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bruce's Bend. The house is beautiful and comfortable and it has great amenities! The Wi-Fi was very slow (luckily we brought our own jet pack!) and we could only get about six cable channels while we were there. We thought we'd recommend putting a light at the back stairway...it was pretty dark there at night; there's a light there but it doesn't shine on the steps themselves. Also, ceiling fans in upstairs bedrooms would have helped to keep upstairs cooler. All in all, we had a great time and would return!!! Thank you so much!
My family has been staying at a different mountain rental every year, looking for one that fits all our wants and needs. We are city people who want to be outdoors and away from the crowd, and Bruce's Bend is it! We will return! The canoes and kayaks with access to Craig's Creek is a real plus, along with the special permission to bring our dog. Plan to bring all your groceries to save time. Also, make sure everyone in your group can climb stairs.
Thank you to the gracious owners for sharing their place on Craig's Creek. What a fantastic location and just perfect for my family of six (ages 13,18,20,21 and 50 something). We took full advantage of what Bruce's Bend had to offer...canoeing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, hiking, reading on the back porch, s'mores by the fire pit....and much more. My youngest son went swimming at least once every single day. Our dog, had the best time of her life and enjoyed her vacation as much as anyone. We enjoyed the openness of the kitchen and living space, as we love to cook and visit while doing so. Many good times were had sitting at the large farm table, eating together as a family, playing games, cards, talking........etc.
I want to express to you why Bruce's Bend was truly a REAL Blessing to our family. What you don't know is that my father had just passed away approximately two weeks prior to our selected vacation date and we had just celebrated his life and passing in his funeral service the Saturday prior to arriving. We all were a bit worn physically and emotionally. The house...the surroundings....the family time...the peace....is what we all needed at that exact time! I believe....that God in His awesome mercy and grace orchestrated the timing! Bruce's Bend comes highly recommended, it is an excellent place to go and celebrate life! (In it's many shapes and forms). Our family is grateful for the all the special memories of our stay. We would love to return soon!
The property is in the mountain/creek area. Craigs Creek runs across the property. It is perfect for a peaceful yet full family vacation You can swim, fish, canoe, kayak, tube, cook out, campfire, bike, run, or simply relax and read a book.
