Even more room and updated than expected. Great location close to town and restaurants. Owner was available and very helpful before and during the stay. Would definitely stay there again.
I would strongly recommend the property, Chatham Bars Carriage House. There are different layers of experience here. You drive up and the first impression is a dilapidated building next to a large graveyard. After calling the owner, you drive around to the other side, which looks much better, and go up to the second floor living quarters, which are spacious, luxurious and elegant. Because of this, we were happily surprised and glad that we had rented the place.
Having said that, the marketing headline of the place, "Walk to Chatham Main St, boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and night life" is simply not true. It is in walking distance of the post office, a small grocery and CVS. Everything else is a short drive away. The title, Chatham Bars Carriage House, seems to be taking advantage of the name of the famous resort, Chatham Bars Inn, a few miles away; the property is well inland, not near the Chatham Bars, which are sandbars off a famous beach. Downtown Chatham, a few minutes drive away, is one of the very nicest places on Cape Cod and proximity to that is certainly a major positive for the apartment.
The apartment was spotlessly clean except for one chair cover that the previous tenant had smeared with some cream cheese or something. Overall, that qualifies as spotless. The living room and dining room areas are large and luxurious, and the cozy sitting room is also luxurious. The kitchen and bedroom are spacious and very well equipped. My only quibbles: The main closets were blocked off for the owner's property and only an inadequate half-closet is available to guests. For this price the owner should provide minor amenities like a box of kleenex tissue and a soap for the shower.
Susan, the owner, is friendly and helpful. Again, we are glad that we rented her luxurious apartment and we would recommend it to others.
We had a great stay at this property! The apartment was so well equipped with anything you could possibly need, the owner was responsive, met us on time and even checked in during our stay to see if we needed anything. The property is so close to downtown Chatham which made it easy to walk to dinner, shops, bars, etc. I highly recommend staying here!
We loved this carriage house!!! The furnishings and appointments are beautiful and there is great attention to detail. It is exceptional! I have stayed places before where I was very disappointed even though the photographs looked like it would be OK and, so, I am always a bit uneasy until I have gotten there and seen the place for myself. I am particular and care about where I sleep. It is part of the memory of a vacation to me. As soon as we walked up the stairs, my friend said...."this couldn't be the right place...look how nice it is and how big it is".... We loved it! There is a separate and cozy TV room and I slept on the sofa there and found it to be very comfortable and workable. My friend took the bedroom.
The owner seems nice and was very responsive and seemed to care that we have a good time in Chatham. We liked Chatham better than any other town on the Cape and we so pleased we chose it. Town is a short walk away and there is a very nice grocery store and pharmacy within an easy walk. We also walked to the local bakery each morning and one of our favorite restaurants of our trip was in Chatham and, also, within walking distance....the name is Delmar.
We strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay somewhere memorable and that allows you the space and feeling to just "hang out" on the afternoons you want to really relax.
A beautiful well equipped apartment. Comfortable and in walking distance of town, we loved staying there. Susan was very helpful and available for any questions. I would stay again!
This is our new "home away from home" in Chatham--this year being our second time staying in this upscale rental. Susan is extremely accommodating and her rental is luxuriously appointed. An open kitchen, beautiful dining room and living room and deck for grilling make for perfect relaxation. The bedroom is gorgeous, the bed is very comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and the central air is much appreciated on a hot summer day. It's located a short walk from the center of town and the bike routes, which eliminates the need to park down-town. And it's so quiet and peaceful. No crazy traffic or loud neighbors to deal with. We found the nearby Seaside cemetery to be lovely and tranquil. There's a lot of history there, if you have time you should definitely take a walk. If you're looking for a pristine place with lots of room and a fantastic owner, look no further. We can't wait to come back! A true gem!
The Carriage House is located one street off Main St. Chatham. Walk to the Cape Cod League baseball games, the Cape Cod Bike Trail and community tennis courts and playground. Property abuts historic Seaside Cemetery where Bobby Hackett is buried. Restaurants and Beaches are just a short walk, 5 minute drive. Oyster Pond for swimming, fireworks and sunsets.
