Great property, wonderful hostess

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this property immensely. This was our first trip to the Cape and we appreciated the Central location, and walking access to shops and restaurants. The property was clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable. The hostess was easy to reach, very accommodating and quick to respond to questions, supply requests, etc. We would stay here again.

Very Nice. Highly Recommended.

  • 5 of 5

I concur with the sentiments expressed by the other 5 star reviewers. This is a very nice, clean, spacious, and well-located apartment in Chatham. Susan's customer service was great, as well. Only problem with the visit is that it induces unrealistic fantasies of early retirement and moving to Chatham! Looking forward to returning.

Perfect Location! Beautiful Carriage House!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at the carriage house! It was the perfect location for walking into town and biking to area attractions. The carriage house itself was beautiful, clean and very comfortable to stay in. It obviously had been completely renovated and was furnished beautifully. Parking was easy and we actually never used our car once we were there! We enjoyed sitting on the porch over looking the cemetery watching the beautiful sunsets. It was a very quiet location, but still so close to town and Main Street. Susan was very welcoming and checked in with us to see if we needed anything. She is very accessible if she is needed (but we didn't need anything!) Absolutely would rent again. Thank you Susan for an amazing and relaxing getaway! Can't wait to come back to Chatham!

Great apartment close to Main Street

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 10 month old, and I stayed at the apartment over Labor Day weekend and had a great time. The apartment had lots of space, a beautiful kitchen, and great deck! We were close to Main St. and in driving distance of many great spots in Chatham. Susan was also very responsive. We had a great stay!

Luxurious, a little different from ad

  • 4 of 5

I would strongly recommend the property, Chatham Bars Carriage House. There are different layers of experience here. You drive up and the first impression is a dilapidated building next to a large graveyard. After calling the owner, you drive around to the other side, which looks much better, and go up to the second floor living quarters, which are spacious, luxurious and elegant. Because of this, we were happily surprised and glad that we had rented the place.

Having said that, the marketing headline of the place, "Walk to Chatham Main St, boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and night life" is simply not true. It is in walking distance of the post office, a small grocery and CVS. Everything else is a short drive away. The title, Chatham Bars Carriage House, seems to be taking advantage of the name of the famous resort, Chatham Bars Inn, a few miles away; the property is well inland, not near the Chatham Bars, which are sandbars off a famous beach. Downtown Chatham, a few minutes drive away, is one of the very nicest places on Cape Cod and proximity to that is certainly a major positive for the apartment.

The apartment was spotlessly clean except for one chair cover that the previous tenant had smeared with some cream cheese or something. Overall, that qualifies as spotless. The living room and dining room areas are large and luxurious, and the cozy sitting room is also luxurious. The kitchen and bedroom are spacious and very well equipped. My only quibbles: The main closets were blocked off for the owner's property and only an inadequate half-closet is available to guests. For this price the owner should provide minor amenities like a box of kleenex tissue and a soap for the shower.

Susan, the owner, is friendly and helpful. Again, we are glad that we rented her luxurious apartment and we would recommend it to others.

Owner's Response: As my add states, this property IS the Carriage House to the original and existing Chatham Bars Inn. According to MAP quest a .9 mile, 3 minute drive to the actual front door of the INN. The property is closer to the Railroad Depot, as the horses and carriages were kept here and vacationers picked up at the Railroad Depot and driven off to the Chatham Bars Inn-as the roads were back then less that 1/2 mile. Railroad curator and murals downtown can verify this. The Railroad Depot is now a free museum. This IS a restored Carriage House in Chatham's Historic district. The property had been restored and preserved according to strict Historic District guidelines-renovations engineered and architecturally designed. A 200' long building with original horse barns- the entire building has new roof, new siding, and new windows, and new decks- Lots of effort and consideration has going into preserving this gorgeous building. The apartment IS within EASY walking distance to Main St. First store on Main St. is .35 of a mile , 7 min walk-I believe my add says 10 minute walk. Approximately 3 NYC blocks. Not a problem for most guests. Also, this is a 1700 sq. ft. apartment, (for less than the price of a room) that is completely stocked with amenities- paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper, spices, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, sugar, salt, pepper, napkins, coffee filters, dish soap, DW detergent etc...and closets. I take tremendous pride in my building and apartment rentals-all of my 5 star reviews tell the story best.
