About Anita Sangiolo

We are the proprietors of An English Garden Bed & Breakfast on Inman Rd. in Dennis Port. Joe is an MIT graduate, class of 1951, and for 30 years was vice president of a firm that specialized in the design, manufacture, and installation of geodesic radomes. You may have seen one these huge 'golf balls' in your travels, as they are part of a world wide landscape . Anita is a retired professional actress, having played many major rolls on the Boson stage. She has also done commercial and voice-over work. We are the proud parents of 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Weston, MA was our home for 40 years, but now we call Cape Cod our home.

Anita Sangiolo purchased this house in 2013

Why Anita Sangiolo chose Dennis

From the front door of our B&B we can see the back yard of Birch Hill. When this charming home came on the market in December 2012, we immediately purchased it. We poured heart and soul into making it a desirable rental house with the goal of creating a family/ child friendly home.

What makes this house unique

The location is superb ... on a quiet street just steps away from the beach. We are mid-cape. Day trips can be planned to Province town, Chatham, Hyannis, Plymouth Plantation and the Ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

We live just around the corner, and are always there for you. We invite you to come, relax and enjoy all the charm that Cape Cod has to offer.

College Graduation & Family Reunion. 9 adults very comfortable w/ room to spare!

  • 5 of 5

Earlier in the week our son graduated from NYU, where five of us made our way to Cape Cod on Friday the 19th. Four of our adult New Orleans family met us at the home on the same Friday, where we spent a week of fellowship, eating, joy, fun, playing tourist, eating, exploration of the cape, did I mention eating and reuniting. Joe and Anita are wonderful hosts and the house was a perfect backdrop for our needs.

Two sisters stayed in the downstairs room with 2 double beds. A brother and his wife stayed in the downstairs master, while upstairs two married couples stayed in the upstairs master and other room with a double or queen sized bed. One person in the final room which has bunk beds and a twin bed. All total 9 adults, very comfortable. Many laughs and games took place around the big table. In between rain drops, we actually got a fire lit and had a smores night. The basement game room came in handy for ping pong and pool.

The location in Dennisport affords easy walking to shops and restaurants in Dennisport. West Harwich, Harwich and Chatham are just a few minutes away by car. Being almost centrally located in the cape, the trip to Provincetown was still close by, while the trip to Hyannis and Sandwich were also easily accessible.

All in all, I will strongly recommend this home as it serves it's purpose for a vacation. The private beach is about a half block walk from the home where many of our party enjoyed the beach at all times of the day and night.

Rent this home, get to meet Joe and Anita and just have a blast with your family and friends!

Just right!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the cape house ! Very roomy and spacious. Plenty of room for 10 plus people. Lots of space to spread out. Loved the back deck and backyard. Owners were very pleasant to deal with, and very quick to respond to emails during the booking phase. There was no need to contact them during our stay. Everything was there, plenty of kitchen supplies, we even had a clambake and they had lobster crackers ! Great spot, would highly recommend!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family .there were 10 adults and 3 children. We needed a place near Harwichport so we could attend our nephews Wedding. We stayed 5 days and hotel rooms just wouldn't have been comfortable . Anita and Joe were very lovely people to talk to and available whenever we needed something.

The house was as described. They had linens, towels ,even some beach ones.Beach chairs ,umbrella and sand toys, unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate so we couldn't enjoy being so close to the beach. But we could see the water from the 2 living rooms. 4-bedrooms are good sized ,the fifth had a bunk and a twin bed but a little smaller, and each room had a tv. ..A pack n play and high chair also available if needed..4 bathrooms so no one had to wait. The game room in the cellar had a pool table ,ping pong, fooseball, air hockey . Our grandchildren were to little to enjoy ,but the men tried them out. A good size yard with a fire pit , a large deck and an enclosed screened porch. The door on the screened porch needed to be fixed ,.The screen had torn away from the wood ,I think the wind and rain contributed to that, which I'm sure will be fixed for the summer renters.

All in all I would definitely recommend this house .It is close to restaurants ,beaches and site seeing.

Owner's Response: What a nice review. The property was described almost as though we had done it. I want to comment on the screen door. I just began my 90th trip around the sun on June 1. One of the pleasures I still get is fixing things. I discovered the screen door problem as a result of the previous guests who were celebrating their college graduation. I didn't have time to fix it then, but I thought this would be simple for me to fix because I had a the roller tool that is normally used for screen door repair. However, I had difficulty with using the tool to force the rubber insert around the frame. I thought I could use a thick chisel and hammer it in. This led to an ideal tool for amateurs. I modified a 1-1/4 " flat drill bit By grinding the center point and the ends to produce a 1-1/4" flat surface at the end of the drill bit shaft. It was a simple task to use this tool to tap in the gasket with a small hammer.

a worry free family IS possible!

  • 5 of 5

Just back from our first family vacation, 8 adults and five toddlers/babies (3, 2,1, 10 months and 8 weeks old)! Having never rented a home for a vacation I was a little apprehensive..We were renting a home in an area that we had never been to (Cape Cod) and only going by photo and the owner's description (which was spot on!). We arrived a bit early on check in day as we had heard about the "Cape Cod terror traffic" and wanted to be ahead of it. Living on Long Island's east end We are all,too familiar with the trecherous summer traffic....well...Cpae Cod's did not "disappoint" us. We met Anita at her own lovely home and she could not have been more charming...put our mind right at ease that we had made a very right choice for our first vacation home rental. Anita told us we could park our vehicle at the house and go to the beach as the housekeepers were not yet finished cleaning..understandable. We did that and also "got the lay of the land". Once in the house we breathed a wonderful sigh of relief...the description was that and more. so much room for the children to enjoy and the adults could easily get around without anyone or anything getting in the way! The backyard was very welcoming...plenty of seating and enough backyard for us to set up our outdoor movie screen, which we enjoyed watching movies under the full moon glistening off the nearby water.....heaven! A very large gas grill is provided that allowed us to cook outdoor easily for our large crowd. The outdoor shower was a blessing getting the little cleaned off from their days on the beach, which they loved! A nice finish to our busy days was sitting outside around the firepit toasting Marshmellows and probably enjoying a few more beers than we should have, but hey! It's vacation! The entire family loved the fact that we could all sit at the same table for our meals...that was very special..lots of chatter and more laughter. The beach was a very short walk, making quick trips back to the house a snap. Anita and Joe provide everything you may need, beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels, beach's there, don't worry. We were a short distance to the very popular "Sundae School" ice Creme parlor, which we frequented. Leave your car at the house, it's a very enjoyable walk. So, if you're thinking about renting a home for you Cape Cod vacation,,,,,get off the fence and call Anita and Joe. I guarantee you'll be VERY lad you did!

Spacious and attractively furnished.

  • 4 of 5

A nice location not far from the beach. Attractively furnished with good sized bedrooms and reception rooms. The dining room and its table was perfect for Christmas. Only one quibble -the kitchen needed updating and its equipment was more suited to summer vacations than cooking and dining at Xmas. Would nevertheless recommend the property.
