Waterfront Tranquilty

  • 5 of 5

Our purpose for this visit was to search for a home in the area and experience the local lifestyle. We couldn't have asked for any better. The home was clean, spacious and comfortable with beautiful views of the water. Kayaks and equipment were available to use right out the entry. The house was completely equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable about the area and always available in case we needed anything or had questions without interfering. Our stay was so busy with house hunting that it was nice to come back to a place we felt was home like. The home is clean and very nicely decorated and furnished. It is centrally located to the main roads, town and beach area. The owners provided local information for dining and activities. By the way we found our home and will be relocating to this area. Thanks again to the owners for being such wonderful host

Great Location, Easy Kayaking Access, Mixed Rental Experience

  • 4 of 5

Our family stayed at this property for 4 days. The location is terrific--this is the last house on the canal before King's Bay, an easy paddle to some of the local springs and around the bay, and a 5 minute drive to restaurants and stores. In mid-March there were manatees everywhere, including in the small canal by the steps to launch the kayaks. The included kayaks are a HUGE plus and it was easy to put in/take out just steps from our door. We used them every day. The layout of the rental includes entryway, kitchen, dining area and living room/sunroom on the first floor. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, a bath with a shower, and a jack-and-jill bath with a shower/tub. The master is huge and comfortable with a nice sitting area. There's a large porch that runs outside all 3 bedrooms that has views of both the canal and the bay. It's a beautiful place to enjoy the scenery (as long as the bugs aren't biting). Be sure to bring flip flops to wear out there, though, because the boards are uneven and loaded with splinters. Over all, the property is a little worn, but a bargain for the price and very clean. Wifi works great and the owner was responsive and helpful.

There are a couple negatives to consider for this property. The most important one for anyone looking to rent in warm weather is that there is a window air conditioner in the living room and no other a/c. Even in March the bedrooms were very hot by mid-afternoon and in the summer they'd be stifling. Perhaps the owners add more air conditioners in summer, but there were none during our stay. The other issue is one of privacy. When we returned to the property after a few hours out there was a note on the door that the owner had gone through the property in our absence with an insurance agent. This was a big breach of trust for us. I was available by phone and text the entire time and would have appreciated being informed *before* someone walked through the rental where we'd left all our personal belongings--though it'd be better if they didn't do it at all. Lastly, there seem to be two other units on the property. One of them is a separate portion of the house that faces the bay and you hardly know it's there. The other adjoins the kitchen and living room of the rental and you can hear everything from that unit (so I assume the people in it hear you, too), and somebody has a drum kit over there. They only played during the day, but if you like to nap, it's a big surprise.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry you were uncomfortable during your stay. You are correct, there is a window AC unit in the living room which is meant for that room alone. However, there is also central AC throughout the property. The AC switch is in the pantry area right above the bench. I am sorry you did not see it. I do wish you had made me aware of your discomfort. Had you done so, I would have changed things to your complete satisfaction. Regarding the invasion of privacy, we were affected by the flood of Sept. 2016. As a result, the walls and the floors, etc. had to be replaced. Thankfully, everything turned out great. But, we had to have an insurance agent inspect the property to ensure that all repairs where made. We have NEVER had to enter the rental property while it's been occupied. We did have to do so on that one day. There was a miscommunication between the agent and I. I did not know he was coming on that day. Because my sister did not have your contact information, she did not contact you before hand. However, my sister was sure to shadow him EVERYWHERE he went. Nonetheless, I do so apologize for not having contacted you before hand. It really was simply just a result of miscommunication between the agent and myself. Regarding the patio, since the flood, it has been very hard finding qualified, experienced and available handymen. However, we have FINALLY found a very qualified, experienced handyman who will be redoing the outside deck. By the way, on VRBO I have THIS property listed as a townhouse because we do share walls. We have had many guests stay here and none have ever complained about being able to hear sounds from the other side of the connecting wall. My sister lives alone and she is a very quiet person. Nonetheless, I do so wish you had told me that you were having troubles napping. Had you done so, I would have done everything possible to make you comfortable. We strive to ensure that ALL our guest needs are met and that they are very comfortable during their stay. Thank you for visiting us and we hope to see you again.

Ladies Getaway vacation

  • 5 of 5

My 3 girlfriends and I stayed for a week. It was beautiful, wonderful, relaxing. Getting up every morning and having coffee on the deck watching the sun come up was awesome. Then at night sitting out on deck having a glass of wine and just relaxing, couldn't of ask for more. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. One night we were making dinner and needed a bigger pot and she came right over with one. The place is large and clean. I would highly recommend to my friends. And will definitely be back again. It was exactly what the 4 of us needed.

Dolphins galore!!!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place to stay. Everything was as described and so much more. Neat, clean and charming. The owners were very friendly. Our first day here, we witnessed dolphins during a feeding frenzy. We saw six of these beautiful creatures right outside our door. We were able to swim and Kayak to three sisters and then for lunch we kayaked to Charlies. What a wonderful time we had. Beautiful place beautiful location!!!!

Winter Fun 2015

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I rented this property in January for 2 1/2 months. It was all that the listing stated & more! The owner's were wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. The home was wonderful and very roomy with lots of storage space. Although we did not use them, there were several kayaks available. There was a small gas grill which we used several times. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning to the beautiful Kings Bay right outside your window. We were able to see manatees in the bay but also in the canal right outside our door. We even saw dolphins in the canal. The birds were amazing. We were able to take in many festivals, a trip to EPCOT & a trip to the zoo in Tampa. They were only 1 1/2 hour trips from the rental! There are several nice restaurants to choose from. Crackers is great and has outside dining. Cody's Roadhouse has great food & atmosphere! We highly recommend this property. What did we most enjoy about our stay? EVERYTHING! Even though the property owner's lived on site they were not "checking on us" on a daily basis. Just a great relaxing time. We are already looking forward to next January when we will be there for 2 1/2 months again!

The rental is perfectly located on the open bay, with clear views of the sun rise, and sun set. On the West end of the property is a canal leading to an open fresh water spring where you can watch manatees and dolphins traveling through. While you might feel as if you are on a remote island in the middle of the ocean you are only a short drive from all the cities finest shops restaurants and attractions. Crystal River offers various manatee tours, wildlife tours, snorkeling tours, and boat rentals, but you might not ever feel the need to leave especially since this property has 4 kayaks available for daily rental at ridiculously fair rates!
