About Deb Meyer

I have been living and working in the beautiful black hills of South Dakota for 11 years. I believe it is the most beautiful place I've ever lived. The scenery and fishing is fabulous!

Deb Meyer purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Deb Meyer chose Black Hills

This is the best location for getting to all the sights and sits on over 4 private acres. It's very accessible, yet secluded. This is a rare log cabin because it is built out of solid oak logs which give a very sound and warm feeling.

What makes this cabin unique

Very accessible from the front yet very private in the back. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Beautiful secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable stay in your beautiful cabin while on our family vacation. It was very clean and had just about everything we needed. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us and plenty of room for the kids to play. We cooked breakfast and dinner every day and it felt just like we were at home. It is in a great location and we would highly recommend this wonderful cabin to everyone. Thank you for helping us make some awesome memories!

Beautiful vacation cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Castaway was one of the most beautiful and cleanest cabins we have stayed at.

We did not want for anything except a little warmer weather for riding, but the cabin is so cozy and the views are so amazing, we didn't mind staying inside! It was great having the 2 car garage for storing the motorcycles.

The cabin was perfectly located just minutes form all of the attractions we wanted to see.

The only thing I would say could use a little attention is the cookware, the smaller skillets are in need of replacement, and we could have used some storage bowels for leftovers, but other than that, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, peaceful and accommodating cabin. It is more beautiful than the pictures!!

We will consider this our only vacation home for our South Dakota vacations.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful retreat home.

Would love a reason to go back

  • 5 of 5

Not sure I can say enough good things about this cabin. It was extremely clean and modern. The furniture was all really comfortable. The beds were perfect and the linens nice and soft. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the cups, bowls, pots, pans, we could have needed. There were 7 of us (two couples) and we all had a bed with relative privacy. The TV's were big. We went to Mt. Rushmore and Cosmos and spent some time in downtown Rapid City. While I wouldn't say everything was close, the drive wasn't unmanageable either. The wildlife is incredible - we saw hundreds of deer, big hhorn sheep, turkeys, and even 5 magnificent elk! There wasn't anything we needed that we didn't have. The only downside is that my navigation (and my daughter's as well) took us someplace completely different and about 2 miles away. So that was a little challenging but we figured it out. Also, with so many of us accessing the internet, it was very slow. Other than that, it was a wonderful family experience and we hope to return some day. Great memories were made here.

Black Hills Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Our April stay here was wonderful. This home is located in an easy to find, convenient location that is close to everything in the Black Hills area. The house is wonderfully appointed with all the equipment and utensils you need to make this your home away from home. The living area is comfortable and inviting, the bedrooms are large, quiet, and very comfortable. Having the 3 sleeping areas on different levels provides exceptional privacy. The entire house was very clean and the bedding and towels are quality and clean. Deb has the décor of the house prepared so that it is fun, inviting, and feels uncluttered. This is a place I highly recommend for anyone traveling in the area and we will be back as soon as we can. Thanks Deb for sharing you home with us.
