Guestbook comments from the owner

We were so fortunate to have picked your 'Monet Suite' for our first stay in Hawaii. We felt very much at home in your lovely garden accommodation -especially after your warm welcome our first afternoon. Your location close to Kailua Beach was wonderful and we were able to find highway routes to all parts of the island quite readily.Should we return to Oahu, we hope to be able to stay with you againBruce and Mary (Toronto, Canada)

Wonderful location, doesn't get better!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Joanie's house in the Monet room! It was nicely appointed, comfortable bed, and plenty of towels. She made sure to provide an extra fan and cooler per our request because it doesn't have AC, and we prefer a cooler room at night. Being that it was January, it was cooler in the evenings and with the windows open and fans going we were comfortable. The shower has great water pressure, nice and bright and big. The bathroom itself is on the small side, not much room to put your things. We used the dresser right outside the door to put our toiletry bags. The mini kitchen has a small fridge with freezer, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker and some utensils. There isn't a kitchen sink however, so we had to use the small bathroom sink to rinse dishes. And the dining table is what we used for prep space. There is a nice private patio with a bbq provided outside . We also appreciated the outdoor shower to rinse our sandy feet and legs off. This room is great for a 2-4 day stay. If you're looking for a longer stay she has another unit that has AC, has a larger bathroom and kitchen. For a longer stay we'd rent that. Joanie is a delightful host, very helpful and gracious. She provides plentiful beach gear, cooler, chairs, towels, boogie boards, and even had a few snorkel sets. The location to the beach access is steps away, across the street to one of the best if not the best beaches in all of Oahu. Around the corner is the popular Kalapawei market for great coffee in the morning, and a deli for lunch to go. It's also really close to a few surf shops, and shaved ice store and the center of town is a 2 min drive. Buzz's famous steak and seafood restaurant is also really close by, don't miss the salad bar and Calamari dinner! We will definitely be back!

Great lodging

  • 5 of 5

A pleasure to stay here. My wife and I needed a place for 4 days after a week in Maui and this cottage was fantastic. A very short walk to on of the best beaches in the world! Joanie was very helpful. IK've stayed in Kailua a few times so no directions needed but she was more than helpful with any questions we had. We'd love to come back and stay here again! Hopefully for more than 4 days though!

Wonderful week in Kailua

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everything said about this place is true -- clean, quiet, comfortable, and a 3-minute walk to the beach. It's a great couple's retreat. You avoid the crowds and congestion of Waikiki, but Honolulu is just a short drive away. There's lots to see on Oahu, and Kailua is a great base to explore from.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay here. The room was very comfortable and clean and it was lovely having beach access just steps away. It is a quiet location with a real sense of privacy. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen nook was well equiped. Recommend!

Great Vacation and Fantastic locatoin

  • 5 of 5

This was our best vacation ever! The location would be hard to beat. We were so very glad we decided to stay in Kailua instead of crowded Waikiki. The property is just steps to the beautiful, uncrowded beach. And Kailua was pretty well centrally located between all the things we wanted to do. I will say that if you plan to spend lots of time in the room during the summer it gets warm without AC. This did not bother us much though b/c we left the room early in the mornings and only came back to get ready for dinner and then it was comfortable by bedtime. The room was plenty big and had lots of storage. The grounds are beautiful. You will love it here.
