If you're really flexible, patient, open minded, tolerant, partially deaf, and comfortable with crumbs/stains/clutter, then this is the place for you. Enjoy.
wow world traveller! if you are so worldly why be oh sooo frugal and stay in such a slummy place!! what you have written is utterly untrue and disgusting! at the very least you should have left and asked to be refunded!! too bad I just saw your review!! oh don't forget to mention that you stayed at the most exclusive and expensive part of Boston's Back Bay!!!
And this review is not for my Listing in Worcester the 3 bedrooms home!
really nice and, with a few modifications, could be great!
This is an airy, pleasant, and comfortable rental that shares a bath with an adjoining studio. Lots of light, nicely furnished, and in a great location in Back Bay. Easy access to the T (5 min walk to Copley, 10 min walk to Back Bay) make this place ideal for a visit to Boston without the need for a car. A lovely little market was just across the street, a large grocery store (Star Market) was about a 10 min walk away, close to the Back Bay T station, and there was a CVS on the corner. Claudette was quite accommodating, even though my arrival was delayed until quite late in the evening (nearly midnight, travel delays).
I really enjoyed this place and would have only a small set of recommendations that would take this place from quite nice to great, based on my experiences renting through VRBO: I would add a small set of American-sized coffee mugs to the kitchen, along with a full-sized kitchen garbage can, and a small cutting board; provide a booklet with all the critical info (Wifi p/w, location of the building's garbage cans, check-out procedures, and maybe some recommendations for nearby restaurants); and check the cleaning of the kitchen area and shared bath, as these were a bit below what I've associated with VRBO rentals, though not anywhere near as extreme as described in an earlier review.
Otherwise, this place was really nice, and I will definitely consider it again when I have to return to Boston.
Thanks Michael. I take your suggestions into consideration and appreciate the respect you showed to my home.
Michael is a considerate and respectful guest, I welcome him again.
For those looking at the three bedrooms home, this review is for studios in boston.
BEWARE, this is not a "studio," it is a room for rent. Although not mentioned in the primary description, this room comes with a shared bathroom. If you look very closely, you will notice in the bathroom section some small printing in grayscale that denotes that rather important fact. Needless to say, it was a surprise to my wife and I, as well as to the other travelers who rented the second studio during our stay, but then departed after only one night.
My wife and I have traveled fairly extensively and have never before been so disappointed with our accommodations. When we first walked in, we immediately noticed the place was cluttered with personal belongings including pictures of loved ones, clothing, and a variety of trinkets. The next thing that was immediately apparent was the lack of cleanliness. The stove looked like someone took a rag and just smeared grease all over the top, the oven had food still inside it, the refrigerator was dirty and about half full of food, the freezer was so full we could not fit any food if we wanted to, and the counters were so dirty it took about 20 Clorox rags to clean them. Probably the most disgusting thing is the bed sheets were dirty and full of hair. There was also only one pillow, even though it is advertised as accommodating two persons, and the two bath towels that were left for us were dirty and of very poor quality. They were also the only towels in the entire place; not even paper towels were present.
We called the owner Claudette to inform her of the dirty sheets and she advised us to go into the adjoining studio and get some spare sheets. We did that, but those were also full of hair. Instead, in an attempt to make the best of it, we walked down to the local laundromat and washed the sheets and towels ourselves. We then went to the store, bought some cleaning supplies, and cleaned the place so that we could at least feel somewhat comfortable.
The bed was of average quality. It appeared to be not too old, but sagged significantly in the middle. The couch was old and dirty and the throw pillows were stained. There was a closet, but it was so full of the owner's belongings, we could not store anything inside. After a couple of nights of staying, we were awakened at 4:30 a.m. to a barking dog. Turned out to be the owner's dog that she dropped off in the other studio. When I complained about that, she replied, "that's what dogs do." Needless to say, we left early.
I have welcomed you into my home. It is not a hotel. You want a hotel you should have rented a room there. You complained about the sheets, I showed you where other set is. and I even arranged for H keeper to come over at 10 and redo everything...
You have disposed of pictures, removed decorative things, removed the tray you see on the table and placed it in the red armoire. The red armoire, the same one which contains two extra pillows, extra towels, bed sheets and french soaps. You're talking about stained pillows? those pillows are about three months old. I Paid , like everything else in the studio, and yes it is a studio, quite a bit for them. The white closet, the one where you threw the comforter on the floor!! is where I have workout machine. You could use it for your clothes, but you don't need to, considering you have a tall chest with 8 drawers, with french soap in each one. The red armoire, chinese style, with 10 hangers, extra pillows and towels, plus pillow cases, and the 5 feet long black chest. This is the one that you cleared of personal items as you call them. You've removed a tray with pens, sticky notes etc...which was on top of another chest which funnny enough contained more linens. I don't know where that is. .You complained about not having an empty fridge...I explained that it has condiments for guests to use. you removed a shelf and you left me with a box of beer.... that plus the two trash filled trader joe bags you left me in the studio..and a dirty bathroom sink :) you have disposed of brushes and new sponges... you have no right to throw anything out. you've re arranged the place and messed up my entertainement center..you complain about the dog, but what you don't say is that you knew I drove into town at 1 am and had to run to the emergency room at MGH because my friend just got hospitalized.... you don't say that my neighbor from upstairs actually kept the dog until I came back at the end of the day...even though you knew that....dogs do bark, yes...just like everyone else they express themselves. you complained about the noise, you're in the city, you hear cars, people, and animals. It's a busy street in the best part of town...you want luxury you should pay more and stay in a luxurious place. What I offer is a beautiful place, tastefully decorated, clean, affordable and in the best part of the city. Guests stay with me year round. this writing of yours is just untrue I had to respond.
Please note, this is not a listing in BOSTON! and the reviews are actually for a studio and not this listing :)
All the comfort of home and the convenience of the city.
This is locate din a very quiet neighborhood, minutes away from downtown. The train station is a five minutes ride and major highways are less than a mile away.
