About The Owner

My Husband and I have travelled extensively. When, one day we sailed to Vancouver Island, we were captivated by the beauty of this entire area and knew that we had found a gem. We felt incredibly fortunate that we really stumbled on this stunning Island and knew that this is where we would love make our permanent home.

The Owner purchased this estate in 2006

Why The Owner chose British Columbia

Ollie and I walked through the gates leading onto the property and we were immediately aware of the charm that this property offers. IT TRULY IS SPECIAL.

What makes this estate unique

The beauty and uniqueness of the valley allows us to live in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farms producing fresh local produce where the honor system is still often used. We are in the perfect location; with easy access to Victoria the capital city of British Columbia, a short 15 to 20 minute drive. Or if we wish to explore this magnificent Island the Pacific Marine Circle Route is the perfect one-day drive. Including visiting West Coast beaches and parks, world famous ancient forests and mammoth trees… with interesting and quaint places to see along the way such as “Point No Point” for tea with a stunning view, French Beach, China Beach, Port Renfrew and the fascinating Botanical Gardens the trailhead of Pacific Rim Park, Cowichan Lake , the list is immense.

After a day of sight seeing and discovering new places to return to the peace, beauty and tranquility of Heathwood is a treasure we never take for granted.

Victoria and the South Island region is home to many exceptionally talented chefs who turn local products into memorable dining experiences. Taste the amazing foods from the region, fresh produce, Pacific seafood, fine wines and ales at the restaurants in the area or bring the delights you find home to enjoy in your “home away from home” – Heathwood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Gorgeous in every way!"

I was in the area for a workshop and this property was such a dream at the end of the day. Highest quality linens, gorgeous views, fully stocked kitchen along with quiet made my ten day stay easy and enjoyable.

The hosts, Jacqui and Ollie left no detail unaccounted for. I was warmly greeted and provided every amenity I desired. the WiFi worked perfectly, good grocery stores in the area, along with beautiful furnishings. I highly recommend this property to singles or couples.

Amazing property

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (including 2 teenage boys) enjoyed our stay at Heathwood! Jacqueline was there to greet us and made us feel right at home. The house was very clean, comfortable and cozy. As a busy and tired mom, I enjoyed the plush towels, decadent bath products and the soft king size bed. I also enjoyed my morning cup of coffee on the patio with the hummingbirds, butterflies, and beautiful flowers. The cottage is perfect for exploring the island and is close to several wineries, fruit farms and adventure sites (fishing, whale watching, zip lining, and hiking). We were sad to leave and plan to return soon. Thank you for your hospitality!!

Peaceful & Serene

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we walked in our suite we were enchanted. Everything was so lovely and impeccably clean! Beautiful antiques, comfy king bed with beautiful sheets and bedding and a well stocked kitchen. What more could we have asked for? Oh, and I should mention the abundance and luxuriousness of the towels! Loved the rural setting, the horses and of course the graciousness of our hostess and host. Can't wait to go back. In fact, we've already made our plans to do just that!

Our family of four (including 2 young children) had a wonderful stay at Heathwood. Jacqueline and Ollie are impeccable hosts and the property is gorgeous - the pictures don't do it justice. Heathwood is also a great base to explore this beautiful area of Vancouver Island. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Dear Heather, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay here with us at Heathwood. Ollie and I particularly appreciate this as we know how busy you are looking after a baby and a two year old. Although we do not normally accept such young children to stay with us, you made it an easy decision to say yes. You were so willing to rent the equipment to enable us to all be comfortable. Your little ones are delightful and so well behaved. We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon. Very Best Wishes Jacqueline and Ollie.

Relaxing and Comfortable

We stayed for 7 nights at Jacqueline's place. If you want a lovely place to stay away from the rat race this is perfect. Close enough to everything but feels like you are miles away from anywhere. Jacqueline is also the perfect host. Thank you.

Sunrise Suite, Heathwood

  • 5 of 5

The Sunrise Suite is exactly as described and photographed...elegantly appointed and comfortable. The decor is relaxing with colour coordination throughout and the beds insured a good night's sleep. Art was abundant and there were many furniture items of antique interest. The premises were spotless and a bottle of wine awaited us on arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee and other amenities. Our host was very gracious about providing not only a cane but a walker to help me navigate indoors. She also gave us the names and contact info of nearby fruit tree nurseries. We had dinner at Nautical Nellie's in Victoria and the food and service were excellent. We will certainly recommend the property and owners to others.

A Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Heathwood Estate Sunrise Suite was a delightful place to stay for a week on Vancouver Island. The apartment is beautiful and the owners were lovely. You also get to gaze out over the horses grazing in the field and enjoy the beautiful gardens. It is handily situated for taking trips to Victoria and the surrounding coast and there are wonderful restaurants around with magnificent views to enjoy as you eat. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we hope to return in the future. I can recommend this property as a wonderful place to stay for couples or families looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay.
