Overview

Honokaa House Rental Photos and Description

Two-house deluxe complex with 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms situated on a 3 acre botanical garden with over 30 different types of exotic fruit trees and several hundred botanicals including many rare palms and other species—all labeled with their botanical names.

Situated in historic Waipio Valley, this unique property is known as “the place of first light” ka’o and provides unparalleled access to “The Valley of the Kings”.  The breathtaking landscape of the lush valley walls, traditional taro patches, palm and fruit trees, exotic fragrant flowers, and giant monkey pod trees transports you into another world. Walk two minutes to a sacred waterfall and bathe in it’s pure waters or stroll down an enchanting jungle canopy path to a secluded black sand beach. Or explore our dense botanical garden filled with unusual and exotic species and learn while having fun— our plant labels and descriptions will help you identify local and international botanicals. It’s all here for you and much more!

Enjoy all the comforts of home while surrounded by paradise in over 5000 sq. ft. of custom living space—with bamboo hardwood and natural slate floors, travertine bathrooms, granite counters, teak furniture, and our exotic lava-rock bath house—fully off-grid and fed by a waterfall. The two houses are connected by a breezeway that provides unusual privacy between the master suite in the lower house and the 6 bedrooms in the upper house making it ideal for two separate families vacationing together, or just great separation for members of the group.

Screened lanais and decks allow gentle Pacific breezes to pass through the houses while enjoying incredible views from the expansive bay windows and numerous skylights. Fabulous for star-gazing and bird watching, numerous streams and rivers run through the valley and create an unparalleled tropical adventure!

Our private guide will escort you into the valley and provide personalized insights into the rich history and lore of the valley and its traditions as well as the varied plant and animal life. Ask us for details.

Waipio Valley is truly a magical place.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the beautiful botanical garden retreat. It was so fun picking fresh fruit right outside the door for breakfast and snacks.

It is remote and very quiet, which makes it one of our favorite get a ways.

Thank you for sharing this tropical paradise!!!

Waipio Valley Hawaii Botanical Gardens Houses

  • 5 of 5

This was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation for me and my whole family, in this beautiful location. The two gorgeous houses easily accommodated eight adults and three small children. The botanical gardens are not only beautiful, but filled with delicious fruits to eat everyday. Our host, John, is an amazing person, who helped us in every way possible and showed sincere interest in us and our adventures. He brought us fruits, shared interesting historical and scientific facts with us, which made our stay so much more meaningful. I highly recommend this vacation accommodation to anyone wanting to explore the beauty of this paradise on Earth.

The Beauty of Old Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

As we rode through Waipio Valley we felt that we were experiencing a very spiritual and ancient place, one that had kept its original beauty and peacefulness. The lush gardens of the property were beautiful, full of flowers and fruits. It's a magical place, where you can relax and commune with nature. The accommodations were excellent, meeting our every need and exceeding our expectations. The 5 of us, two couples and a girl friend walked along the marked trail to the water fall and swam in the pool one day and the next we walked through the Valley to the black sand beach. Our guide and property caretaker was very informative and shared many stories of the Hawaiian people and the history of the Valley. I have already recommended it to friends and would return to step back in time. People of all ages would enjoy a stay here.
