Had a enjoyable stay at the cabin. The cabin was clean, conformable and peaceful. We were able to observe deer in the yard on a nighty basis.
In driving around we saw beautiful autumn foliage. There were numerous places of interest to visit it the surrounding area. We had a very enjoyable time.
My wife, our 14 year old son, and our 11 year old lab spent two nights in the cabin this weekend and loved it. We arrived right at check-in time and found everything in perfect order and exactly as advertised. The cabin had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The property is beautiful, just as the pictures show.
We made 2 trips to Draper for dinners at the Mercantile and highly recommend Chef T's amazing fare. I don't watch the show, but apparently she was runner up on last season's Hell's Kitchen. We also rented bikes from them. We're in okay shape and found that a 2 hour rental was more than enough time. We also walked the dog on 3 different sections of the park trail.
I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who is looking for a quiet place (there is some dog barking in the valley but that ended by 8 o'clock both evenings) with access to the New River Park trail at the Allisonia boat ramp only 5 minutes away.
The cabin was cozy, clean, and well-appointed. My dogs, Domino and Scrappy enjoyed the open space to run and explore. We walked a few miles on the New River Trail each morning -- really breathtaking -- and I kayaked in the afternoon, taking in the wildlife and mountain scenery. The cabin was just a couple miles from both, with multiple access points to both the trail and the river. Evenings I read on the front porch swing while the dogs played and watched the neighbor cut, turn, and bale hay across the little valley. Temps in the low 80's during the days and mid 60's at night in Mid-September made for a perfect vacation.
Be aware, if you are dependent on your smart phones, that e-mail and internet access didn't work in this hollow, but I was able to make calls and message on my Verizon service. I was able to connect with the cabin wifi for the first day, but was then blocked because the bill hadn't been paid. I almost marked down one star for that, but decided it was a blessing in disguise that I couldn't respond to work e-mail.
We'll be back
We had a great stay in this adorable cabin. It was clean and had everything we needed. We saw deer in the yard every morning. It is remote, but close to the new river trail. We are so glad the cabin is dog friendly! Our two Golden Retrievers loved it there!
We had a wonderful time. The bike trail was great. We revisited 2012 graduation memories with our son from VT. Celebrated 30 years of marriage.
I found this cabin looking for a weekend getaway for my girlfriend and me. I emailed with a question for Paige and she immediately responded in a friendly and helpful way. It is comforting to know you get a quick response from this owner when you have an issue, particularly out in a remote location like this one. I got concise instructions after booking and our arrival went smoothly. The place was clean and ready for us, with the AC running keeping it cool on a hot August afternoon. The location is great. Close enough to a few houses that they can be seen in the distance, but far enough away from everything. The sunset we watched from the front porch our last evening there was like a painting. The location of the cabin is remote so pay attention to the written directions if you don't have a good navigation app for remote areas. There are a couple of decent grocery convenience stores nearby (15 mins), and I found the Draper Mercantile (about 25 minutes away) to be a very nice place to get a very tasty meal in their dining room. They happened to have live music the Saturday night we were there and the band was pretty good...although I forget the name. In any case, we will definitely be staying at this outstanding cabin again. I would recommend it to anyone. The roads and driveway were good enough for my girl and I to comfortably ride our motorcycles on it, so any vehicle should be able navigate there unless there is snow.
