Newly renovated in 2013 and upgraded again in 2015, Harbor Oasis is a rare find with in-town convenience yet a private tranquil setting directly on the ocean. Located down a quiet lane in picturesque Southwest Harbor - a classic Coastal Maine fishing & yacht building community on the 'Quietside' of Mount Desert Island. Just minutes to some of Acadia National Park's favored spots including Beech Mountain, Echo Lake, Flying Mountain overlooking Somes Sound, Wonderview & Ship Harbor Ocean Trails, Seawall Picnic Area on the Ocean and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Easy walking everywhere in town and less than 5 minutes to the Island Explorer bus stop for free shuttle service all over MDI and throughout Acadia National Park. Bustling Bar Harbor, should you tire of the tranquility of Harbor Oasis and the beauty of Acadia National Park, is just 20 minutes away with many shopping, dining and 'people watching' opportunities.

Could not have been more happy with our stay. Wonderful location in Southwest Harbor. Walked to Town every morning for coffee and fresh backed goods. The views were awesome, the family and I loved watch the tide coming in an out everyday. Was there for 4th of July, and witnessed the fireworks that were awesome. In Arcadia you have to drive to most locations for hiking, biking or swimming and although Southwest Harbor is a little drive from the main entrance, there were many wonderful places to explore close by that are part of the park system.
As others wrote about, the cottage is perfect, everything you would need is provided. We (2 adults, 2 tweens) eat often at the cottage, breakfasts, lobster boils and grilling. Washer and drying was a huge bonus. Will stay again!
We've stayed on Mt Desert Island before, but never on the "Quiet Side". After our week in the Harbor Oasis, I don't think we'll try anywhere else. The cottage was lovely - clean, comfortable, and convenient. We loved being close to the water, and being close to the center of town. Getting around to all our favorite parts of the island was very easy. The owners are friendly. Their inn is just up the street.
We stayed at the Harbor Oasis for a week. It's a well-equipped, tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean home. The location is great: right on the harbor with a lovely water view, quiet yet a short few minutes walk into town, and yet not a long drive to the main entrance of Acadia National Park. The owners are nearby running an inn: warm and friendly and easily accessible for assistance.
Very nice, close to town center yet private with a great view, Clean and well maintained. Can hear traffic outside from main road but not inside. After a while you don't notice it and in any event the view compensates particularly from the gazebo where it is quiet. Owners Pam and Brian very helpful.
Restaurants: would recommend eat a Pita for coffe and lunch, Sips and Red Sky for dinner. Best water trip: Island Cruises from Bass Harbor.
We've stayed at the Kingsleigh Inn before and this property is owned by the innkeepers from that place. The location is perfect. Great views of Southwest Harbor from windows, the deck and the new gazebo. It's off the main street but still close enough to the center of Southwest Harbor to walk everywhere. Kitchen has everything you need to cook meals if you're tired of eating out. Rooms are sized just right and the bathroom has a radiant heat floor and an infrared lamp for those chilly Maine mornings. This year we stayed for only a week. Next year maybe it'll be for two weeks.
This is the perfect cottage and location to sit back and relax, with great restaurants a walk away, a beautiful view of Southwest Harbor and wonderful, welcoming proprietors (Pamela and Bryan). From the moment we arrived, we knew we made the right choice. The Harbor Oasis is close to all that the MDI and Acadia Park offers, including hiking, kayaking and the more gorgeous scenic views of pink granite.
The kitchen was outfitted for as much cooking as we would like and everything was very clean (thanks Sabina). The new gazebo was great for evening cocktails. Both bedrooms were spacious; and the open floor plan with the kitchen and living area was bright.
Pamela and Bryan are experienced and friendly. They are obviously hard workers but make hosting visitors seem like a piece of cake. We would definitely return.
This is The area to be if you're interested in saying on the "Quiet Side." You might also want to check out the Kingsleigh Inn, right around the corner from the Harbor Oasis cottage.
