About Barbara Hoyt

We live in Boulder, CO and are raising 3 children. We enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, camping and all things outdoors.

Barbara Hoyt purchased this house in 1998

Why Barbara Hoyt chose Homestead Hills

We built this home after the birth of our second child as a safe place to enjoy the outdoors, yet have a warm place to return with our small children. We have many happy memories of jumping off the deck into snow, enjoying hot chocolate by the fire, building forts in the woods and mountain biking out our back door. The combination of aspen, pine and spruce on the property was appealing - not knowing how much value the diversity would have when the majority of the pine were consumed by Pine Beetle.

What makes this house unique

With 3 acres to explore, but only minutes from stores and resorts the property is the perfect place to remove yourself from the hustle of life without feeling isolated. Our home is a place to use and enjoy - its functionality was built with families in mind and comfort is stressed over price tag.

Nice and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Being in the forest was beautiful. We saw a moose the first day and a family of moose the last day. The home is very spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed was there except wifi lol. Some of us had to turn in work and we couldn't give our location unless we were outside in a hotspot. But it all worked out. Very nice. Thank you.

We all very much enjoyed our stay at your home. The secluded location was great !

Overall the fishing wasn't that great in some of the smaller lakes around the area. But coming home to the cabin made our vacation very enjoyable!

Amazing views and spacious!!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the spaciousness of the cabin and the view was astonishing. It was nice to have a fire going at night to warm up beside. Enjoyed being able to step inside and remove our boots in the entryways. The only thing that would of been handy was knowing what spices, condiments, and cooking oil or sprays were available before coming. Thank you for the enjoyable stay and relaxing atmosphere.

lots of space

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room for our group of ski patrollers who were supporting the 2017 Stagecoach Classic. Beds for everyone and nicely stocked kitchen for preparing our fabulous breakfasts and dinners. And the fine weather was a bonus.

Fantastic property in the woods

  • 3 of 5

We celebrated Thanksgiving at this cabin. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood on a lot of property in the woods. It felt like we were tucked away from the world which was great. The fireplace was used every evening - the garage was well stocked with wood. The house had plenty of sleeping options - several bunk beds, including one for toddlers, and several full/queen sized beds. It was a quick easy drive down into town for any amenities we needed. There is a toy room in the basement well stocked with toys for all ages. My little boy especially enjoyed the three full boxes of train set accessories. We enjoyed using their sleds to go sled riding outside. Many boxes of puzzles to choose from.

While the kitchen was stocked with various cookware, many things are showing their age. Several nonstick pans had peeling Teflon, for instance. The bottles of hand soap in the bathroom were watered down so we purchased our own. A number of the kitchen chairs were wobbly and appeared to be on the verge of collapsing so we set them aside and used folding chairs when we ate meals. The linens in the home, overall, also show their age - worn, thin, and even tattered in some areas.
