About Barbara Hoyt

We live in Boulder, CO and are raising 3 children. We enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, camping and all things outdoors.

Barbara Hoyt purchased this house in 1998

Why Barbara Hoyt chose Granby

We built this home after the birth of our second child as a safe place to enjoy the outdoors, yet have a warm place to return with our small children. We have many happy memories of jumping off the deck into snow, enjoying hot chocolate by the fire, building forts in the woods and mountain biking out our back door. The combination of aspen, pine and spruce on the property was appealing - not knowing how much value the diversity would have when the majority of the pine were consumed by Pine Beetle.

What makes this house unique

With 3 acres to explore, but only minutes from stores and resorts the property is the perfect place to remove yourself from the hustle of life without feeling isolated. Our home is a place to use and enjoy - its functionality was built with families in mind and comfort is stressed over price tag.

Wonderful location

  • 4 of 5

We were very pleased with the house and location, and it was very roomy for our family group of 8 adults and 7 children. We didn't even need all the beds!

Although the furnishings were not real nice, and the microwave didn't work, we had a great time. The dining room chairs were somewhat wobbly, and the bedding looked like garage sale items. It certainly didn't spoil our vacation, but it's worth a mention.

We LOVED seeing the deer and small animals, and watched a fox chase a rabbit just behind the house.

We would certainly consider the house again.

Relaxing family friendly cabin

  • 4 of 5

The property is in a great location. Close proximity to the YMCA, Granby Lake, and Grand Lake. The cabin was a little dated but very large and suitable for large families with kids of all ages. It was wonderful having a washing machine and dryer available and a full kitchen. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would come back for sure.

Nice quiet location between Granby and Winter Park. Cono was large and can accomodate a large group. Would definately stay there again and would recommend to others.

Great spot to relax with good friends

  • 4 of 5

It was the perfect little getaway for our group. Had a ping pong table which entertained us while we were actually in the house. Good location with spacing between neighboring houses. Easy access to winter park, granby, granby ranch or whatever activity you'd like. It was about 20 minutes to winter park, 20 to the hot springs, 15 to granby ranch. We had a lot of fun at this place. Only downside is that we could not find a grill! Good thing you can cook ribs in the oven! Thanks for having us Barbara!

What a great place for a family retreat. Beautiful views of the mountains and lots of room to play in the snow. Absolutely relaxing and a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This place was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

This place was everything we'd hoped for and more. It was a beautiful secluded setting yet easily accessible to shopping. We saw mule deer out the front window daily and a gorgeous view of the mountains. It was very clean and had all the necessities and more. We enjoyed our evening campfires with an amazing view of the stars. The owner was so friendly and helpful. We had ten adults who slept very comfortably. It was easy to get to Rocky Mtn Natl Park, Bertha Pass, Mad Adventure rafting, and other great viewing and hiking areas. Hope to get back there in a couple years. Can't thank you enough for a fun and memorable vacation with my family. It was exactly what we wanted. Thanks Barb for sharing your home with us.
