Cabin is ideal for couples, anniversaries, and honeymooners. There is a hot tub on the wrap around deck that has beautiful ocean and forest views. Located within the Whaleshead Beach Resort and the nearby Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor and the Oregon Coast Trail. There is a brand new spa that just opened to take care of those sore muscles after hiking one of the many nearby breathtaking trails. There are queen beds in both the master bedroom and the loft. There is a queen pull out sofa bed. It is one small step up into cabin but a very steep stairwell to the loft. Ceiling is low in the loft. Not recommended for children because the loft has an open area small children could fall through.
We are located six miles North of Brookings, Oregon and just ten miles from the Northern Califonia Border.
Enjoy the view from the wrap around deck while relaxing in the Hot Tub. Or simply set back in the deck rocker and watch the many varieties of birds: wild turkeys, stellar jays, and quail to name a few. During the months of the whale migration you might get lucky enough to spot a whale or two. We have binoculars available for your search.
To book appts. at the spa please call 541-671-8751. Our guests enjoy at 20% discount.
We have a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans. A beautiful view of the ocean as you cook.
There is a coin operated laundromat on the resort property, but not in the cabin.
The Living Room has a queen size sleeper sofa, a recliner and big overstuffed chair. Perfect for lying around and doing NOTHING! (like our Cat). There is a 42" TV with DVD/VHS Player. Another TV is located in the master bedroom. There is a small library of DVD's and VHS movies and books available. Many board games, cards, and puzzles.
We live in Northern California. Jim recently retired from the CCC Board of Education, where he was an administrator/instructor of a drug and alcohol abuse prevention program.
Linda is an RN at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California. We have two children, six grandchildren and our new Great-Grandbaby.
Linda & Jim Sanford purchased this cabin in 2007
We accidently found Whaleshead Resort when we were beachcombing at Whaleshead Beach across the street. We saw some construction going on and decided to drive over and ask some questions. We fell in love with the place and started the rocky road of building our piece of paradise.
Oh the view is beautiful and ever changing. Whaleshead Beach and the many trails will take your breath away. A spa just opened at the resort in Oct of 2016. Appt. can be made by phone at 541-671-8751. I (Linda) and my niece just had a massage and facial there in October. We both enjoyed not only the fantastic massage/facial, but the ambiance was lovely as well.
I stayed here with my Husband for 2 nights about 2 weeks ago. We loved it! We didn't want to leave! The cabin is really nice, very comfortable, very clean and had everything we needed. The view is spectacular. The hot tub is fantastic. The hot tub is brand new and works great. We really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at night under the moon and stars listening to the ocean waves below. The location is really great. Right in the middle of the Samuel H. Boardman scenic corridor which is a gorgeous stretch of coastline with several short hikes to amazingly beautiful beaches. The cabin is in the Whaleshead Resort, which is like a little neighborhood of cabins nestled into the hillside overlooking Whaleshead beach. This cabin is almost at the top of the hill overlooking the roof tops of most the other cabins and seemed like it probably has the best view of all the cabins. It's quite private and very quiet (except slight road noise during the day from the highway below). We bought fresh fish from a local fish market and grilled it on the BBQ on the deck. It was wonderful. We had a really great experience and would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin last week for 2 nights. The views from inside the cabin and from the deck are stunning! The area around the cabin was very quiet and private. We chose the location due to our hiking plans for 2 days and were not disappointed in the least. A definite must do again rental!
My wife and I were looking for someplace to just "get away" for a week from the SF bay area, no hassles, no airports, just us and some hiking, scenery and comfort. We found a few places in the Brookings area and settled (providentially) on Linda's cabin, U20. It isn't quite a house, but it is oh so much more than the title "cabin" implies. It is comfortably roomy, and the photos do not really give you an idea of the spaciousness that the house plan provides, the bedroom is a little bit on the small side, but it is there to be slept in, and that fact alone allows for the square footage to be spent more wisely elsewhere; in particular the living room and kitchen and dining areas. The view over breakfast must be seen, to be understood.
It is furnished comfortably, the kitchen is stocked with all the necessaries, the WIFI is more than adequate (we were running two smart phones, an iPad and a Kindle Firestick for streaming on the HD TV with no buffering or delays).
The location of the house (if you were even considering renting anyplace else in the complex) at the uppermost level, literally puts it head and shoulders above the competition. The views of the cove below, the fog ebbing and flowing in and out of the valley, and the sunsets were all spectacular and in constant flux. Sheer heaven to sit with a glass of sparkling wine in the hot tub, or on one of the chairs on the spacious deck, and take a deep breath, realize you'd gotten it right this time, as you enjoyed the view.
There aren't a great many restaurant options in town, but there are enough; the fresh salmon available at the harbor fish store, the kitchen and grill make going out seem intrusive in any event.
The hiking along the Oregon Coastal Trail through Boardman State Park, give you some of the most spectacular scenery along the western seaboard, and Whaleshead, China and Harris beaches provide ample space to get that Robinson Crusoe feeling so hard to come by here in crowded California.
Top it all off with how helpful Linda was in making us comfortable with our decision beforehand, her useful information and suggestions, and the convivial and friendly attitude of the personnel at Whaleshead made this the perfect stay. I can assure you that we will be coming back again to hike the trails we missed this time and to relive the serenity we so enjoyed during our too short week. Thank you again Linda, looking forward to speaking with you again next year.
We loved our weekend at the cabin. I brought my Celtic Harp along and to play it on that porch with the stunning and peaceful surroundings was a dream come true. The cabin is well appointed and very clean, the jacuzzi under the stars a special treat. Couldn't have found a better place to spend my 60th Birthday.
we were there for our 50th anniversary at the end of July and just as we thought we had a wonderful time. Not only was Linda extremely helpful but we so enjoyed the hot tub and the unlimited TV available. Very comfortable and so enjoyed it! Would highly recommend the view and fully equipped kitchen. Thank you.
We reached the cabin late in the evening around 9 p.m. The staff
had already kept the cabin ready and directions were stapled to
the office door. (Office closes at 8:00 p.m). Everything was well
arranged and the staff were always helpful. Will come out here again
Probably for a longer stay. The only surprise was the steep incline of the
driveways inside the resort - did not expect that, but was no problem since we
had a AWD vehicle.
Great ocean view from the Living Room, Dining Room, and Hot Tub. Mountain & Forest View From Living Room and Deck.
Whaleshead Beach across Hwy 101
